Sera " whats the old Inquisition Motto again"

Cassandra " ugh i dont want to repeat it "

Sera " Come onnnnnn"

Cassandra " Into the darkness Unafraid "

Sera " Around the corner chocolates are made "

Cassandra " Maker preserve us "

or

Solas " something elven"

Sera " Fart noise "

Thats Sera in a nutshell , she has the mentality of a child , which explains why she can be so stubborn at times, kids always think they know more than they actually do, if you can manage to see see her for what she is then she wouldnt get on your nerves as much.

It is, actually. Solas is pretentiously speaking Elvish to a group which does not speak the language and Sera ridicules him for it. She does explain herself, you just didn't quote it.

How many times is that now? Maybe I should make a macro...

I know she does explain herself , but thats my point , a grown up in that situation would say " excuse me ?" or " i dont understand " but Sera being Sera responded in Sera fashion , thats a lot of Seras i know :-)

I personally don't hate Sera.  However, she's completely insane and it's a shame that the first lesbian companion isn't a bit more satisfying.  I can't for the life of me figure out why anyone would want to date someone like that.  She'd probably stab you in the back if you did something to **** her off.  (It probably wouldn't even have to be something bad even)  Meh.  I feel like she's there as a joke character, and most of it isn't even that funny.

I love Sera precisely because she lives in the moment; she's fun, she's flippant and she doesn't let you get mired in all the politicing and forget how to enjoy yourself.  I'm not fond of crude humor, but you have to put up with a little dirt on the wrapping if you want the whole package.  (And that's who Sera is, a dirty wrapping around a box full of those scary snakes and exploding things and balloons, and noise makers, confetti and a sex toy inside.)

Because she's fun and wild and unpredictable; the type of person who'd pull you out of your everyday doldrums and remind you what it is to live.  No sitting around and being bored for Sera, she's the embodiment of living energy and mischief; she'll get you in trouble and you'll love doing it.  Dating Sera would be like being on speed, the danger is - she might burn you out eventually and when you crashed she be off to find someone else to have fun with.

I would, and have dated women like her. I'd say exactly like her, but she's a lesbian, and wouldn't date me. However, we could go to the bar and hang out, which would be cool too. I don't want a dainty little flower girl. I like a girl that can take the initiative when it needs to be taken, and can take care of herself. I prefer women that speak their mind, no matter what I may think of what she has to say. I especially love it that she's in a video game.

I actually got that impression from her while playing, myself.  It's kind of the reason I feel like even if I do end up liking her character at some point, I could never really romance her.  Kind of why I could never bring myself to romance Merril either.  They just seem too child-like in my personal opinion.  *shrug*

But that's the problem. People complain about mages being dangerous, that's nothing compared to having a character like Sera running around murdering people left and right because she has the understanding of a child. At least mages are able to choose to use their magic for good.

I always flip a coin for gender when I play these games, and the toss got me a female Inquisitor. I also wound up human, but I did the Sera romance, and it is very rewarding. It contains some of the most touching, and some of the funniest stuff in the game, so far, except maybe Cass and the book thing.

Sera is like Rikku from FFX (no, not the horrible FFX-2 version you chud).  Only instead of being this well-written, plucky, charming, adorable blonde haired woman....she's an unlikeable, self-race-hating, tumblr personified, walking pile of refuse who has no redeeming value in her personality.   So...basically, the antithesis to Rikku. If you're going to write a character like that, you better be damn sure you give SOME reason to like her in SOME way.

Whoever wrote her didn't.

Not quite. Rikku was written to be the bad kind of fan service by making the viewer think that a 15 year old girl is an ideal sexual fantasy.

At least Sera is in her twenties.

Also I prefered FFX-2 over FFX because I couldn't stand most of the male characters in FFX and the story in FFX was a disjointed mess.

Red Jennies are not assassins, they don't just go around killing targets... unless the person(s) is/are a huge threat to the society or were casually murdering people themselves.

The Red Jenny in Kirkwall has Hawke take out gangs. Sera kills someone who attacked the Inquisitor and was a pretty nasty guy according to Sera (she is not a liar or deceiver, she is completely honest), and she kills someone after he murders his servant.

She is not some crazed killer... at least no more than the Inquisitor or any other companion is, other than Iron Bull who takes great satisfaction with killing.

Sera usually pulls pranks, like pies in the face or missing items or creating great embarrassment for someone. Killing is not a focus, but sometimes done on the side when she feels it is justified. She doesn't mindlessly kill, though, she does have reasons, usually along the lines of the person was destroying the lives of others, not because Sera disagreed with a comment.

just like you never quote how Solas speaks to her in elven because ''some elves can understand the rhythm of the language even if they don't know the vocabulary'' as in : he's trying to be nice and bond with her, and she goes *fart noises* as usual.

I'm kind of curious for people that dislike Sera so much what character they like as a contrasting point of reference.

I liked Cole and Solas. In DA2 I liked Merril and Varric, in DA:A I liked Justice and Sigrun, and in DA:O I liked Morrigan and Sten.

edit: Actually forget Solas, Dorian is much better

Well so like what's the difference between Morrigan/Sten and Sera? Both are outcasts, move at a different speed, have erratic tendencies to kind of go on impulse (at least compared to other DA characters)

The rest though are kind of opposed to Sera philosophically so they don't surprise me.

You should remember, too, that when you go to prank Leliana and the only thing you see is her locked box full of personal things Sera actually avoids that, stating it's not okay to mess with someone's personal stuff.  So while she's a firecracker and can be childish, there are lines she does not cross when it comes to messing with friends/companions.

And again: Sera has a very specific mad-on for elves acting elfy because she doesn't consider herself any different from humans for being one, which she voices literally in the very first conversation you have with her if you're an Elfquisitor or have Solas in your party.

Imagine, if you will, how an American of Yiddish descent and agnostic atheist beliefs would react to an Israeli-born Rabbi's attempts to talk to them in their supposedly native language. Her cultural intolerance is the crux here, it's good character-building.

I have actually, I just can't be bothered to re-quote it every single time someone fails to understand that exchange.

Solas is full of it. He's being Elfy and pretentiousness, which Sera (and right thinking people everywhere) hate and Sera calls him on it. Does he back down? No, he doubles down and cranks the Elfy-pretentious all the way up to 11 with that "rhythm of the language" drivel. Sera explains:

Solas: Ar dirthan'as ir elgara, ma'sula e'var vhenan.
Sera: *fart noise*
Solas: Excuse me?
Sera: Excuse yourself, whatever you said and what I did, same difference to me.
Solas: I'd hoped, well, our people can sometimes feel the rhythm of the language despite lacking the vocabulary.
Sera: Uh huh? Know what else is good? Words that mean things. Like these, "words."
Solas: Fenedhis lasa.

Meh, so Elfy.

I do get the feeling there's not a huge overlap between Serahaters and Occupy protesters.  ;)
