She's good with a bow.

I didn't hate Sera, but I didn't like her either. Honestly she was somewhat of a non entity for me even though my character ended up befriending her. I honestly thought the cookie story was very...stupid. Her heart is in the right place but she's so childish it hurts. I think I get it, she's sort of like Peter Pan except in the real world. She only knows so much and doesn't want to learn more and she deals with life with those limited tools at her disposal even if its not the right tool for the job, she is going to make that square peg fit into the round hole anyway, by cursing at it and possibly with an arrow.

This is how I feel about her too. She is just erratic. Sure it is a fun enough character...however, me as a player, GREATLY Disapproves. Not much else to it. I don't find myself liking to accommodate her at all. She can shove off.

The problem is, I like her for her Archer Skills. Sure you can trick out Varric to be an Archer too, but Sera seems better in my opinion. In my next play through, I will be the Archer and I won't even take Sera along at ALL!

Or right, depending on your PoV.

I enjoy having Sera around though she has moments where I want to shake her.

I disagree that Morrigan, Oghren, Zevran and Shale don't develop.  Dorian and Solas im not sure about.

However, i do agree that some people are vastly overstating the importance of characters changing. It's okay for a character with flaws to remain so.

With Morrigan, I find that the only thing that truly changes about her is her opinion of the Warden, depending on how much you agree with her. I don't recall there ever being a moment in the game when she may reconsider her position on anything or suggests that she may be wrong. She's still the same person that disapproves of giving certain people too much money for something, opposes saving the Circle mages rather than annulling them, or opposes destroying the Anvil of the Void, even knowing exactly how golems are made. Morrigan is very much set in her ways and does not really change, and if you simply don't want to take the chance to leave the old god alive, her friendship with you will not stop her from abandoning you before the battle.

The only thing that truly changes about Oghren is that he becomes a Grey Warden, but unlike Morrigan, he actually tries.

I'm still mad someone even tried to compare her to Isabela.

Sera's a terrible character (at least in the form we got her, rather than the concept) but the song is lovely. (All the songs are lovely for that matter, but it's one of my favorites.)

I enjoy that the Inquisitor can disagree with her without breaking it off, then tell her to shut up and still gain approval. "Charmer"

I think I twigged her character pretty well when I chose the 'I can choose an evasive answer too' option, came up with a witty retort and got the answer 'wot ?'.

Then you must be doing something differently. Because all I did was support mages in my first playthrough and got pissed when she stuck an arrow in my face and that was enough for her to hate me.

How dare you not like an arrow in your face. Don't you understand that she is a scared little girl and needs to point her weapon at you to make herself feel better about things she don't understand. *sarcasm*

I supported the mages but didn't get the arrow thing. Do you actually have to be a mage for this to happen?

idk, I got the arrow in the face after the Mythal Temple quest. My Inquisitor is also a Mage. But I conscripted the mages in that playthrough.  Does she give everyone the arrow in the face or just mages?

Isn't the "arrow to the face" tied to your decision regarding the Well of Mythal?

it happens if you use the Well instead of Morrigan.

Yeah I let Morrigan go at it, and in Sera's dialogue, she'll say something to the effect of better her than you.

Every character has their flaws and then their redeemable qualities, Not Sera she's just flaws upon flaws.

HA, she approves of you telling her to shut up? That's my gurl.

Might have to try that line.

The "arrow in the face thing" is when Sera is worried you have been possessed by a demon and is trying to provoke a defensive reaction from said demon by threatening it with her bow. Characterizing it as Sera shooting the inquisitor in the face with an arrow is just, well...  let's be polite and call it "disingenuous and inflammatory hyperbole".

Oh, for the love of- I wasn't attaching anything bad to the act, I was just trying to answer a question.

I wasn't attacking what she was doing, I was just tying a possible connection to the act and what might cause it.

I wonder how much nationality comes into this as well.

Sera's mannerisms and personality are a lot like the bratty British teenager-hipster subculture that anyone who lives in London runs into all too often (complete with the plaid pants, loafers, and purposeful tattered shirt), so what would seem 'fresh' and 'different' to people elsewhere is a reminder of people who can be rude and antagonistic for no reason in town, complete with a smug sense of superiority about their lack of knowledge.
