Funny thing is I found that I understood (most) things Cole said but couldn't understand a damn thing Sera said, lol (with the exception of the cookie sceen)
Same here.

I'm a little confused by this demand for "Character development."
It is de riguer in modern literature that a character develops. I'm of the opinion that character development is usually overworked. The author should to some extent get out of the reader's way. Give enough character development to guide, but not so much that the reader is shackled or even rebuffed.
everyone deserves love! Even Sera!
She deserves arrow to the knee or even better to face
Viscious, much? She deserves arrow to the knee or even better to face

Judging by her face and her way of behaving, it seem she got hit by boulder to the face at a young age.
I don't mind her being hard to please, I just wish she didn't say "innit".
To be fair, she's not ignorant to the plight of elves, she just isn't interested in the assumption of racial kinship or the "us vs them" paradigm that comes with it. She dislikes Dalish arrogance and self-righteousness (You'll notice that when she uses "elfy" she's usually referring to the Dalish or something similar). One of the things I like about her is that she doesn't actually stereotype people much, despite what some posters would have you believe, she judges individuals. Cassandra and Josephine are both nobles, yet Sera gets along with them just fine. Dorian is both a noble and a Mage, but they get along famously. As to the mages, she may not like magic but she REALLY dislike the rebel mages because they've run roughshod over the little people in their position.I actually think she's pretty funny, particularly in her banter with Solas (considering he's smarmy and self righteous at times, I like how she'll say something completely irreverant just to ****** him off) and Vivienne (ultimate clash, though poor Sera is defeated each time).
She's just hard to please if you're a reasonable sort, mainly because she's ignorant to the plight of elves, the bigger picture or anything with mages. She disapproves a lot (effectively making her the elven Morrigan, only not very intelligent) which can annoy some folks.
I have seen Sera get a substantial amount of hate. I just want to know why you hate her. Personally, I love her. She's crazy. I like crazy.
its her Personality she is the Atypical 20 something most people hate who they are and people see them self's in Sera so they hate her

Fortunately, we have BSN users to tell us disliking a character is an indicator of deep underlying personality issues.
Thanks, BSN! ![]()

I do have a masters in Psychology so i know a thing or two XD
Aw, come on, you got off easy. I was seriously considering a restraining order earlier in the thread. How's that even work on a forum? "You're not allowed within 10 threads..." or something?
It's called the "ignore poster" functionality. ![]()

<...>Only reason I didn't kick her out was because it would have felt like kicking a retarded child out into the street.
I find it interesting that so many people say they can't understand what Sera is saying and somehow decide that this means that she is stupid.

I find it amusing people are comparing Cole/Sera.
Cole spoke in beautiful alliterative poetry. Sera just farts out her face.

It's most likely a combination of how she acts on top of the way she talks.
Well, as someone pointed out earlier, the writers weren't lying when they said that she's a "love 'em or hate 'em" type of character. As a player, I think she's a cool character. My dwarf couldn't stand her, but I know my male warrior is gonna want to adopt her. And go find her some cute Qunari gals for her to go cuddle with.
I find it easiest with some of the more divisive companions to try to see in terms of how my character would react, rather than basing it upon my personal feelings. Not all of my characters feel/act the same way.

No. It's not. Clearly this thread is too long for you to read it all so I'll recap briefly. Some characters are called "dynamic characters" and change significantly through the story: Ebenezer Scrooge, Luke Skywalker. Some characters are "static characters" and don't change significantly: Atticus Finch, Tom Sawyer.
Dynamic is not "good", static is not "bad", both kinds of characters can be excellent.
No, you can't do that. Some of the people that post here are just hilarious in both how wrong they are about things, and how devoutly they stick to it. I'd be depriving myself of some comedy gold if I did that.
Ignore is for sissies. Embrace all of it.
Gotta get the workz done sometiem; gamez and interwebz cost teh moneyz.
Also, every time I see a reference to Clockwork, I think how brilliant McDowel was/is.

I hope you weren't being serious.
