I'm not a big fan of the Dalish, but Is there any particular reason I should reroll a Qunai or Dwarf, or have my Dalish characters abandon her faith just to romance this dumb selfish cow.

The problem is not the Inquisitor or Dalish's beliefs, the problem is Sera need to get over it and be open-minded. She doesn't have to agree with the Inquisitor, Solas, or any Dalish elf who's proud of their own heritage. She can be the faithful Andrastian who believe in the Maker, but she needs to realize that everyone has right to their own beliefs and she lived in the world where various culture, races live together. If she's going to force you to abandon your own faith or she'll dump you, and in case you firmly defend your own right to your beliefs then she's not only dumps you, but decide to end her friendship as well then she's just selfish, terrible person who's waste of companion slot.

Funny, because I find her worse than self righteous, arrogant snobbish Dalish.

I disagree with the get open minded because a lot of our companions aren't.

They at least have the tact though to be respectful for the most part (unless you get them to full hostile). Meh.

I think she really is worse than the arrogant Dalish she hates inside her mind.

before i got my hands on DAI, i held off on making assumptions about each character until i got to know them, but from the little teasers, sera was the only LI i was interested in at the time.  i usually absolutely love my first LI's in each game, but sadly, sera was the first who just wasn't it.  i'm not sure exactly what it is about her that i just don't like.  sometimes i find her comments funny, but more often than not, i find her behaviour childish and rude.  i rerolled not long after getting skyhold to romance dorian instead (who i had 0 interest in at first, but quickly absolutely fell in love with him once i recruited him, i simply adore everything about him) and now i'm romancing solas, but i'm still desperately trying to like sera.  sera is the first bioware companion that i just didn't like :/  sebastian was my least favourite companion, but he still had some redeeming qualities and despite being a bit of a pleb sometimes, he's not that bad.  i just can't say the same for sera yet and it kills me because the DAO and DA2 companions were like one big family to my wardens and hawkes.

wait seriously? First she dumps her over the ruins and then they can't even be friends?

Seriously?

What a waste of space.

HIstory is a burden. Sera refuses to carry it.

She's the one who made the ultimatium.

I mean at that point, refusing to even remain friends...I couldn't be bothered keeping her in the Inquisition at that point. If someone's willing to stop being your friend over something that minor then you weren't really friends in the first place.

It kind of depends. Kai Leng is a character lots of people hate, but people hate him for the wrong reasons.

All reasons to hate Kai Leng are the right reasons.

Hence Sera choose to laugh at the Inquisitor's face when she learn about the meaning of Vallaslin. Talk about rubbing salt into fresh wounds.

I had the same problem I liked all the companions in DAO and DA2 and the Mass Effect games (even dudes like Jacob) but Sera is just unbearable I never like kicking a companion out I feel like I'm missing out some good content but for Sera I had to break that rule I also tried liking her but she lost me at her personal quest

Thank god all the others are awesome at least -minus Sera the DA:I cast is great

I don't think I'd ever be able to romance her as an elf, especially after seeing this.

Whatever bad experience she had with other elves, she now associates with the Inquisitor. She's afraid of suffering abuse.
It seems she can't understand there are some people who accept each other, regardless of personal beliefs or religion.

Having the same view of the world or the same background is not a guarantee that the relationship will be a happy one or run smoothly.

Yeaaah I did Sera's personal quest. Her losing it after 3 investigation options? She had to go.

My PC is going to have to deal with some unsavory people that's just his job. Someone in his crew losing their goddamn minds because of it was unacceptable. If I could've told her to bounce right then I'd picked it. Alas I had to wait til Skyhold.

Also the threat was really the last line. Sera I have a spymaster who could crush you.

It would be ironic if she actually had a relationship with a noble woman in the future.

Actually, she DOES. And in Inquisition, if romanced by a Trevelyan.

This situation reminds me of Soris and his marriage to a wealthy Fereldan lady in the Origins Epilogue. Seems he was an elf born like Sera, but unlike Sera, not limited by prejudiced views of social classes. After all, people are people. Right? Sera?

Not really. After all, her beef isn't with nobles per se, just nobles that abuse their status.

Which the PC can do.

How many common born soldiers does the PC climb over to his/her rise to power? How many spies do you send on assassination missions that are caught? How many soldiers die so you can get a schem or a weapon or a favor from some other noble? All those war table missions aren't just helping the downtrodden.

She pulls a prank on Josie for her own amusement, even though she has never done anything bad to Sera or the little people. How dare you Sera!

As id she weren't enough of a twit. I play male Inquisitors so, never romanced her, thankfully. I'd have found a way, even if it meant cheating, to kill her for good. I don't like her anyway, and that breakup just adds to her closed minded, overly simplified wish of how things are. She refuses to think that things are not always simple, and there are things you have to accept on faith. She cares nothing for what others think or feel, it's all about Sera and, that makes her a selfish chit with a good measure of stupidity.

In fairness, I don't think the bucket of water can really exist in the same context as the Red Jenny shenanigans.

I got it after doing the war table mission where she wanted the soldiers to march.

I find it funny that Sera is the only companion that you can kick at any time its like Bioware knew she would get on people's nerve.

Yeah, but how much of that does she actually find out about? You can abuse your power, but she might not know about it all. My Inquisitor didn't, but there it is.

I highly highly doubt the war table missions are a big secret. I'll give you the assassinations but the sending Cullen's soldiers to X, Y and Z? Or having Josie work with some noble for a better end for the Inquisition? No. And even then there's still judgements.

She is working for potentially a noble like all the others. It's very human yes. It's also very hypocritical.

Hell she joined my human male archer who made no secrets of his nobility. She didn't ask him did he care about the little people. She just said she'd be useful and asked to join up. He saw a useful tool and allowed her to tag along.

Actually, it does, but it requires dialog with Sera to find out the context of the pranks, and well, you know how it is, people can't be openminded enough to listen to her, they just pick dialog options. Of course, over the course of the last 60 pages this has been pretty well covered. I'm to the point where I'm not going to bother with explaining it any more. I'm just going to nod and smile at all the Sera-esque behavior in the thread, condemning the Sera-esque behavior.

So she stuck to her convictions which is slightly less agonizing than romancing Merrill while also raising her rivalry stats by denying her help with the Eluvian? Why do the elven characters always have to be so needy?

Yes, Sera is annoying on a whole new level because she poops on every holy and magical belief in Thedas. But she's young, impoverished, grew up around the 5th Blight and saw the Mage/Templar war happen. That doesn't guarantee a good attitude from the downtrodden. She's worse than Scully in X-Files but only because she's dumber than dirt and wishes to remain ignorant. Welcome to a fantastic medieval world.
