I believe that people who dislike Sera are just intolerant or narrow-minded. I like that she sort of makes fun of everything having to make sense. Maybe you can see that as the writer not giving a damn and just writing whatever, but I thought it made her a fun character and I think there's something truly relieving about her nonchalanty towards having "proper conversations"

a very silly post..
So what just because I hate like her I'm intolerant and Narrow-minded? Lol
Talk about being a fanboy

But as for narcissism, I don't really see it.

No, not at all. Having known one or two people IRL that are that way inclined, it's not a word I think is at all appropriate for Sera. I think Viv is the closest to being a narcissist and even then I'm not certain.

I dislike her because she is close-minded, that's it, and statements saying we are close-minded for disliking her are as foolish - to be kind - as saying someone killing in self-defense is no different than the person who sought to harm them. I do not care if someone dislikes magic but at least give me a reason beyond 'it can burn things' because that is no better than being against arrows because they can pierce things, and whilst she likes to say she can control the arrow, she does not control who steps between it and the consequences of her actions. If someone like her wanted to resort to the breach as a justification for their anti-magic beliefs, it would merely demonstrate they are not at all concerned with the nuances of the situation. Such sentiments are what created the conditions that helped lead to the breach, yet she remains obstinate.

And her complaints about elves living in the past further my disdain. Elves have every reason to complain about their current affairs, especially when humans had a hand in their downfall and benefit from elven history being destroyed and the remaining distorted to suit their purposes. Shutting up about it will not change the past just like it will not redress the ignorance humans have cultivated. She complains about elves lamenting what she does not care to understand.

Her fighting for the 'little people' do not make her more tolerable. There are better people with the same intentions.

I'm of two minds with Sera. She immediately got on my nerves with how she couldn't get over the "hilarity" of her taking the soldiers' pants. It got a chuckle when she first said it; my personality is similar in that, if I feel they can't beat me even in numbers, I'll prank them hard because they're not enough of a threat for me to bother taking their weapons. But "breeches cuz breeches... it's funny cuz breeches" made me want to smack the crap out of her... even more so when she avoids answering any question on what makes her valuable beyond "I haz weapon" and getting pissy because the leader of an army wants to know what you think makes you valuable.

I take her around as my archer because I've had my fill of Varric from DA2 and I find her entertaining when she's with Blackwall and Vivienne. She's a personality best taken in moderation while being a very good person to have at your back in terms of ability.

Ah yes. The high and mighty "intellectual" analysis novels detailing how horrible and stupid of a person Sera supposedly is, back in full swing. ;)

I really wish people would type in Sera slang though, then I wouldn't feel like sleeping half way through reading them.

I could say the same thing you know. Don't be blind to her positive aspects. ;)

As for flaws, I don't really care. Nobody is perfect and it makes her different, interesting.

People can hate Sera all the want, my issue is with the condescending high and mighty attitude they give off when presenting their opinions. What's ironic as those who call Sera out for being close minded and practising the very same attitude.

If you are taking Sera and accepting her flaws as they are and not trying to rationalize them into somehow being wonderful character traits, then you are not blind, and the post you quoted is not relevant to you.

He did not say he wanted everyone to be perfect, did he?  No, that's just a strawman you erected to justify you liking a thoroughly unpleasant character.  You are saying that since no one is perfect, it's OK to like someone who is thoroughly grotesque.  This, of course, is another logical fallacy known as a false dilemma.

Grotesque? please..watever you are smoking I want some !

I accept sera as she is and I think the butthurt in this thread have gone beyond the 90000!! Its extremely ridiculous , over a character that you can refuse to let join your inquisition at any time .

I didn't like some companions , fenris and Anders and Carver . But I didn't go on BSN and moaned for 84 Pages about it . I just don't take them with me . I can't stand any of them , they are all a bunch of whiner but I didn't go and demand that they change the charachter or have them killed (even though you actually can for both fenris and Anders)

It doesn't make sense , and the haters I find are a bunch of hypocrite the lot of them . There are far worse companions in the DAI(and the previous Games as well) and I don't see the same hate pointed toward them .

So here is a honest question: Where is the Hate Thread for Solas , BW , IB , Vivi , Cass , Josephine , Leliana , Cullen ?

There it is; a prime example of what I was referring to when I spoke of "high and mighty condescending attitude".

She is grotesque to you and perhaps many other people on this thread. However, I don't find her grotesque at all. I find her bluntness and honesty refreshing, amongst a sea of two faced, boring hypocrites who agree with you in dialogue but then go on to "disapprove".

So yeah, Sera doesn't use big fancy intelligent sounding words when she talks, and if she doesn't agree with you she will chew you out, but at least she is honest, and real.

You're entitled to your own opinion, but don't express it as pure fact. It is not set in stone that she is grotesque to everybody therefore it's a "logical fallacy" or "false dilemma".

In fact, most of the people on this forum should have a neon sign stapled to their heads that says "Logical Fallacy". Where is the *LOGIC*, in going on to these forums every day obsessing over a fictional pixel character?

If you want to blame somebody, blame BioWare. They created her. It isn't like she is some real life human being who magically inserted herself into a video game dead set on pissing everybody off who has a stick up their butts.

If there is one thing I love about Sera, it's how she manages to bring both "neo-conservative" types and "SJW" types together, uniting them and exposing them as one in the same, just opposite opinions.

I love Sera! :D She's great. I love her personality. Like protecting the little people, ya?

Thinking of the ones who get in the way of nobles. Like that baker.

She's good in combat too. I always bring her, along with solas.

Her romance is fun and hilarious. Especially playing as mage/ elf inquisitor.

Far too easy as a qunari, I'd say.

I think you can like or dislike her according to the kind of character you are playing.

During my first playtrough I played a character which didn't suite her at all, a diplomatic, intellectual one which always tried to negotiate with everyone and often acted according to political behaviours, didn't trust in reforming or revolutionary ideals and used to spare prisoners in judgment to make them Inquisition Agents. I tried to romance her the same but her personality was so far from mine that I began to dislike her at all. It turned out so awkward that I had to backtrack my playthrough because I realized that there wasn't a single chance that my Inq could like her.

Several playtroughs later I rolled a very naive and pragmatic character, sometimes even cinical, who didn't give a *** about nobility, politic, customs and habits. Get along with her at that point was the most natural thing, at the point that falling in love with her was the most logical consequence and the romance felt so.. right and natural!
