....

I'm just going to drop this hella cute Sera screenshot right here:

How can you possibly hate that adorable ball of hyperactive hilarious fluff? <3

And that hair can be taken care of with certain cowls (that really enhance her look).  But she is still a dangerous immature brat.

I wonder if this was a conscious decision--to make the most capable fighters difficult to tolerate in conversation.  Vivienne is a better asset on the field, and even worse than Sera in conversation.  The best tank in the game is also the most reprehensible companion.

I don't hate her.  However, when playing through as a Dalish, it gets REALLY hard not to boot her from Skyhold.  Like, from the ramparts.  Seriously, WHY would anyone want to hang around someone who belittled your culture in such an insensitive way?  If you romance Solas, she takes a full on shot at you during exploration banter.  I'm actually surprised that after the Arbor Wilds you don't see them fall over the railings in a full out brawl.  At that moment when you talk to her as a Dalish (romancing Solas or not), she loses all sympathy.  This is my experience though.  Considering what a harrowing experience it must of been, you'd think she'd show just a TINY bit of common sense and let it be.  INSTEAD, she takes the opportunity to spit on your culture.  As a Dalish, I'd have a hard time finding a reason to keep her.  If you are romancing her, she comes off as abusive.  Such a threat can only be answered with a break up.

Now, that being said, if you AREN'T Dalish, she just comes off as kinda childish and annoying.

Though, as others have said, in real life, few people would tolerate someone like this.  I agree.  However, this is a game, and not all tropes are bad, so since keeping her doesn't actually lose you allies, you might as well keep her.  She's good support from a distance, and comes in handy against dragons.  Though really Bioware needs to give US the ability to prank her.  BIG TIME.

I find the fact that Sera is the only companion you can kick out anytime funny. Almost as though the devs realized she'd be a divisive character .

However, I like sera

I think due to the Banter bug I wasn't able to hear what she has to say for the most part, so I ended up liking her, although I preferred Varric as my main rogue.

But when I was able to listen to most of her banter in youtube .... no. She's an annoying ******.

Well, I've already shared my love for Sera and my disagreements with her earlier in this thread.

Ya, I really like Sera. Although, I like Vivienne more.  :)

It's weird, I didn't get any disapproval or negative speech about letting the mages be full allies the second time through (did big time the first time). She doesn't treat me like I locked them up, though. So if it's a glitch it's a very weird one.

You are suppose to get a -20 greatly disapprove if you side with the mages. She also greatly disapproves the Templar ally.  If you disband the templars, you get +20. She does like the wardens.

The biggest problem is that she is a bit immature. I still manage to keep her in the party and get her personal quest done.

Nothing better to do, yeah?  So they mess about with dead things and try to look clever. Urgh!  Not right!  Dead should stay dead!

I thought she was funny and well-written.  I like a unique character.  Yep, immature, but I was born old so she probably does me good.

I made a F/Inq/Elf/Mage so, of course, I had to do the romance.

True, I'd never date someone with her personality in rl; however, I also don't shoot electricity out of my boobs in rl either.

I don't hate her, but she reminds me of today's generation sometimes with her lack of manners, not caring about others feelings on occasion and brutal bluntness that's downright vulgar. However, once you get to know her and understand her past, she's really sweet and I just fall in love with her in a platonic way. Lol

Well, I dated her as a Dalish woman, who was a lesbian.  I think Audrey Hepburn said, "A man is more interested in a woman that is interested in him, than a woman with nice legs."

A lesbian elf is more interested in a lesbian elf who is into her...and when you play the relationship and question her a couple of time after Briala turns up and she tries to bed you immediately...you don't sleep with her and you ask what's up...turns out she's insecure in your relationship, into you, and doesn't want to be treated badly.  Some nice writing, but you have to RP or just risk her getting pissed at you.

And her whole can't believe in Mythal denial, isn't too much like my phobia of Southern Baptist Christians...I grew up in the religion...I fear it.  I can see why she might fear the Dalish, especially if it is true, you can prove it and the Maker is a fake.  That's her whole religion right there.

I'm not my Inquisitor, but in that play through I tried my best to have it close to my personality.

Yep.  Good bit of writing, that one.

Not as good as the Isabela romance, but DA2 your gf is less reactive.  I like the fact that she almost broke up with me over something that she felt strongly about, as opposed to Merrill overreacting b/c I wasn't ready to settle down right then (DA2).

Probably, should have just stuck with the 'electricity out of my boobs' line, but I really wanted to respond to this, because I thought the writers did a fair bit of good writing on it to make it believable.

Edit: Sorry stuck my response in the quote...didn't think the original poster would appreciate that very much;)

I thought that line was funny.

I get it.  My moms family is from back South.  My dads family is Irish.  Wanna guess what we DON'T talk about? :P Still, I get what you mean.  That what I like about the series.  You do get to put your own spin on it, and your reactions can be totally different from another.  I never completed that route with my Dalish.  Qunari was different.  Not big philosophical differences.  LOL.  Kinda like life itself.

I liked the DA2 Romances a bit better.  Especially the rivalries.

And I've done that a ton of times.  The Edit button is my friend!

It's not complicated, really. She's erratic, stubborn, close-minded, easily irritated, refuses to consider alternative ways of thinking, etc.. I really enjoy her character myself, but she's a pain in the ass and even she's aware of it.

Pretty much this. Some find these traits endearing or interesting--I have no idea why--it's like getting a rock stuck in your shoe. It's annoying and painful.

Sera sucks. I wish there was a "punch Sera" option in game. Of all the companions, Sera is the one who most deserves a hard, swift, and disfiguring punch to the face. If Sera was worthy of the effort it takes to actively hate someone, I'd pay someone to draw a graphic picture of her getting nailed to the cross, and post it everywhere.

Oh no, apparently only punching men are ok, not the other way around. Poor Solas and Dorian. Because uproar. As a woman, i'd also want to punch Sera, but since I can't, I just skipped her totally on my second pt.

Thing is, in the DA universe, the spiritual plane of existence is objectively observable, as is magic.  In our realty, the whole thing is strictly a matter of belief.  Rejecting the spiritual as a fantasy for adults is understandable here.  There, I can only think of it as neurotic denial.
