I've got a question regarding on how you get this sword. I know the sword is dropped by Samson during the Main Quest, but I'm also wondering if it is also dropped by Calpernia who takes Samson's place if you side with the Templars.

This being the sword in question for those who don't know it by name.

I'm currently on my 2nd playthrough as a 2 Handed Warrior and want to get my hands on this sword but I sided with the Templars. Does Calpernia drop the sword as well or will I have no way of getting the sword this playthrough?

There is no schematic for this sword its unique it only drops from Samson and honestly there are better swords in the game than this. Sulevin's blade is most likely the best you can get it after you loot a dead body in Emprise Du Lion and complete a war table operation, the masterwork sword you loot from the tombs in Hillsing Wastes is also superior to this.

Well that's very disappointing as I would have liked to make a Meredith wannabe.  Thx for the info though.

makes zero sense that if you side with the templars you get a staff

but if you side with mages you get a sword?

I was interested in this one after I've heard about knight commander armour being available in the game.

If you side with the templars, you kill the guys who use staves. If you side with the mages, you kill the guys who use swords. It's pretty straightforward.

No way to get by siding with templars?

Can anyone post screenshot of this sword from in the game perspective?

I think what he means is that people who use swords side with templars, so why do they give those who sided with the mages one of the best greatswords? In the same vein, what use does a templar Inquisitor have for a staff? Sure you have mage companions, but I think we all agree that Inquisitor comes first.

The poster understands that. S/he's just thinking from a logical story sense rather than a logical gameplay sense.

And further more, the Inquisitor and Hawke are not the same person. Why does they have to be the same class, or share the same viewpoints? Why does a warrior or a rogue have to support the Templars? Why does a Mage have to believe they'd be better off without Templars? Several non-mage characters support the disbandment of the Circle and at least one "important" mage in Vivienne support the Circle model.

As a mage I sided with the Templars, so the staff drop was highly appreciated :)
