Yeah DA:O was the king. In every regard.

Its in every regard its the best DA game by far. And while DA:I have some good sides to it and as a standalone game is really good - its just not as good or deep as DA:O. ITs bigger in many regards - but quite hallow in just as many regards.

As for the combat.

The combat was not "action packed" hallow excuse of combat. It was not "Press a button and something awesome happen" but it was deep, polished whit combos and sinergy. Massive tactical options and interesting upgrades and skills.

So yeah for me DA:O is still the king. I actully replayed DA:O a month before i got DA:I. I modded the living hell out of it and enjoyed it to high hell. And it was felt just as engaging and deep as the my first playetought.

Yeah the replayability in da origins is high due to many class combinations. It amazes me that every time I choose something different in dialogues and not because I'm curious but because I feel different.
In my 3rd play I'm going heavy modding as well.Young weyne high priority ;)

I'm pretty sure you'er trolling...No way any sane person could call the boring ass gameplay off Dragon Age Origins a masterpiece. You're allowed to like a game without making up how great it was. I swear to god in 10 years these same people are going to be talking about how good Origins was when were are playing virtual reality games where you get to fucken be your character..."boy the environment and immersion of Dragon Age Origins...that was something special boy i tell ya"

so you're more inclined to play flashy games with beautiful graphics but broken features instead of games with decent graphics and well functioning systems? i don't know what to say...

Remember this when people say they prefer the real RPG simulation mechanics of original RPGs rather than the button spamming of action RPGs. It's not old, it's not outdated, it's not dull and boring - it's just different. It's OK to have games that aren't action games.

"Real RPG simulation mechanics"? What were they simulating?

I honestly prefer it, yes it was a bit slow, but the animations for weapon use where at least within nodding distance of how things work, and the magic felt..well magic, not like choosing an ammo type.

Yeah, agree.

As slow as combat was, it felt real and proper.

And if you guys feel that shooting crap from the staff is what mages do (which is actually completely similar to archers, up to question... why would you even use an archer in DA2/3), I rest my case.

I wouldn't say mediocre. I would say: "Different from what I was expecting them to deliver to me." What's wrong with different? Nothing.

There is nothing wrong with different. There is a lot wrong with mediocre.

Gameplay-wise, DAO really is better. Personal opinion, of course, but DAI combat is horrible, and I've already made a topic about the flaws of its open world exploration.
I've played lots of games, and DAO doesn't even make to my top 5 favorite list. I can go all fangirlish over Demon's Souls, but when it comes to DA...I can be fairly subjectively objective.
