If the Bottom Line demands it do you think there will come a time when the PC platform is completely abandoned by Bioware?

I'm not worried at the moment. Should it happen, though, I will simply stop playing games. I'll break my fingers trying to use a gamepad and I don't want an extra machine just for gaming. Gaming is fun, but it's not my life.

Really, wouldn't miss this?

I sure would.

Yes, because the "bottom line" always demands making less money, instead of more. Isn't that how all businesses work? /sarcasm

It wont ever happen, consoles are evolving to become mini PC's currently. In the end will only be left with PC's but will have the more choice in what kind of PC whether tower/desktop/tablet/laptop and then also living room console case sized PC's. My prediction is consoles will also become modular in time, the architecture and components are already blending into the PC market more and more over time right now within the consoles. The question about whether EA will continue to market to PC will be nothing more than OS based choice and not hardware in the future. So the question then becomes will they continue to sell on Sony OS, Microsoft OS, Steam or Linux OS etc.

EA's refusal to deal with Steam might make them think PC isn't profitable, but they just don't realize that Steam is essentially the console of PC gaming. Origin isn't going to compete with it, ever. It will take a massive changeup in their management though for them to ever come around.

This is silly. PC gamers aren't that stupid; if EA has a game they want to play, they'll use Origin

If the bottom line demands it? Like if making a PC version would cause the company to go bankrupt?

I should hope they do. Though I do find the hypothetical a little weird.

I don't think that PC gaming is dying but It's lucky for us to get AAA cross-platform titles.  As long as the market for PC games is large enough there's an incentive for them to keep putting them out.

I found the control scheme didn't effect me on S&S Warriors that much but I think with two-hander warriors and DW rogues it's easier to let the computer play them.  So I'm stuck with Archer or Mage or do another S&B warrior if I want to keep playing until they patch in auto-attack.

I actually don't want auto-attack since I like the controls the way they are.  It's fun learning a new control scheme but yeah I'll wait to play a two-handed warrior until the patch with auto-attack comes out.

Origin is damn close to malware/trojan levels of intrusion tho.. I really wish I didn't have to have EA spying on me like this.

As long as console game sales make more money, than pc versions of games are always going to be an after thought, but I don't think they will ever completely give up on that market. Expect a lot more ports coming your way.

Hmm, forum ate my post...

I found the same issue with Steam. It inserted itself into my Startup, and spied on what games I had installed, w/out my authorization. Spyware is spyware, if we're going to call it that, and it doesn't matter if it's EA or Valve.

Since the PC version is selling quite well... why would they?

I've seen a lot of criticism about the controls and technical issues, which is all valid, but which is also something BioWare is quite clearly working hard to fix - they even have their own official topic about these issues. I get that the technical issues and weird controls are an issue, but every time one of these doomsday threads pops up, the legitimate issues get drowned by this damn storm in a teacup knee-jerk reaction and its end-of-PC-gaming mentality.

I mean we console players also have a host of issues, but you don't see us raining doom and gloom on the forums, do you? (Despite the fact that people have been prophesying the death of console caming for... just about as long as PC gaming has been declared to die any moment now, actually.)

So let's all take a deep breath, chill, and have some cookies while we wait for the patch (which will probably nerf the KE, *le sigh*, but sacrificed must be made for the greater good).

All of us on PC know of the awkward controls, bugs and etc. It has been said before; poor console port but not much to be done about it regardless.

What is potentially more interesting is a time when marketing and sales indicate that the PC market is no longer worth any attention whatsoever, or at least the juice is not worth the squeeze. I could see this coming, no matter how much PC gaming contributed to BW's success in the past.

I am and shall always remain a PC gamer so I guess if that ever happens I will have to stop playing BW games. Speculation of course but interesting to consider.

All of us, is it?

Well, others have already called you on that incredibly unfortunate use of phrase.  I'll mention that I now finesse the Pc controls just fine, and I suggest those that can't quit complaining about it apply a tad bit more effort on learning how to play the game.

Alos, this wasn't ported to the PC.  The version were developed simultaneously.  The similarity of the UI is proof of nothing other than that the devs sought to create a UI that was good for all versions, so they didn't have to build two.  An unfortunate choice imho.

As a rather humorous aside to this, did you notice that when they did the video stream to demonstrate the m/kb controls, they really didn't do a lot of anything? They spent a lot of time talking about it, but very little time actually using it. The most "vigorous" workouts they gave us? They were using a controller.

Now I can play either way, but really, a controller does make the game much easier to play. So much so that my cat figured breaking mine would be a good way to get me off the computer... Silly cat.

Consoles is the cancer of gaming. The removal of PC games marks the end of the era of real gamers and will usher in the dark age of gaming. Consoles encourages less intellectual games which are overly simplified and lack depth. With the average age of gamers hitting 30+, the fall of the PC empire would be proof that poverty and noobs will be what the Tevinter magisters were to the golden city.

PC gamers are the Grey wardens, and Console players are darkspawn. We few who stand against the darkness. 10 dogs can kill a lion etc.

Note: Simply my opinion.
