I've tried out the Dorian, Iron Bull and Cullen romances with Cullen's being my favorite. My only issue with DA:I is the same I had with DA:O... the romance I enjoy the most is the one that requires my character to be female. Once... just once... I'd like to see a dragon age game romance where a male character can romance the masculine semi-awkward white knight/prince charming type of male npc. DA:2 was just blah in the romance options all around.

Dorian was a believable character and his romance was satisfying but he's just not "my type". Iron Bull's romance was interesting and quite funny at times but just felt like it was missing something. Romancing Alistair with a mod to allow males to romance him was the most satisfying DA game romance experience I've had. I wish I could have experiences like that in more games that include romances without having to mod them.

Overall though the romances in DA:I were good and Cullen's felt like the best of the bunch to me.

I rolled a male so I could romance Cassandra. I romanced Sera with a Qunari . Working on a Solas romance now. Also romancing Cullen (I'm a bit scattered so I often have different saves running). So far, I've enjoyed all of them. Romancing Cullen lived up to my hopes. Eventually, I want to try all the romance options. Honestly, it's not THE reason I play but I'm always glad they include them. But I still want an actual Dwarf love interest. You can flirt with Harding, but it's not a full blown romance. There have been enough requests, maybe Bioware will see an actual Dwarven LI will be successful.

Oh god I hope not, Solas had a far too high opinion of himself, who does he think he is breaking off the romance with the Inquisitor? I am the Inquisitor, the Herald of Andraste, I should be the one to say when the romance is over not some elven hobo.

LOL @ Elven hobo.... so true.

I'm not romancing Solas in DA:I ever again because of that. All that freaking work, dealing with his moodiness, for nothing.

I'm currently romancing Cullen and he's MUCH better. I don't know how it develops but so far its leaps better than Solas.

I thought the Solas romance was really good. Character is very well written, beautifully acted and the romance feels like it ties in nicely with the main story and so much of the lore in the game. Definitely my favourite so far. I also have characters running through the Cullen and Blackwall romances, and they're both pretty good - but to be honest, I keep having to resist the temptation to make more female elves :3 I'm surprised I like it so much, since I'm a sucker for a happy ending, and because he has less content than the others. Witch Hunt style DLC would be nice, but I'm not holding my breath.

Also, while I think Dorian is a wonderful character (and I'll make a guy at some point to do his romance), I'm very okay with him being gay. I think it's fantastic that there are exclusively gay love interests in the game :) And it doesn't impact my choices at all - if I want to romance him, I can, I just have to RP a bloke to do it.

Dorian is an awesome friend too. And he'll flirt with you, and play along, so long as you both know nothing will come of it, it's fun. If I ever made a character with zero plans to romance, I'd have that with Dorian exclusively. He flirted with my male character when I started my Cassandra run through and I have to tell you, it was tempting to drop the Cass romance to try Dorian's but I will eventually.

Also, I'm enjoying the Solas romance even though I know it won't end on a happy note. He's really an interesting and layered character if one cares enough to look. I do LOVE (seriously, I am not being sarcastic) that people can get so into their characters they are personally upset over Solas breaking their character's heart. It's not a bad thing, honest.

Sera is my favorite for the female Inquisitor, though Cullen deserves an honorable mention and Cassandra for the male.

Expand upon the Sera romance in DLC. Easily my favorite.

Out of curiosity does Sera have special dialogue options for a Qunari? Or is it like the IB and redheads?

She has a couple. I don't remember what they are exactly.

I've only romanced Cassandra and Sera.

Cassandra's was nice, nothing special. It was nice to see there was more to her character than her sense of duty. Non romance wise all you really get is that she likes smutty books.

Sera's was silly and funny if you were a Qunari. I feel like it stayed true to her character. Only weird thing was after doing Cassandra's I was confused as to the "dating" thing with Sera before the actual commitment happened later. Truthfully I liked it better this way over "OMG we had a few conversations and its true love!!!"

In comparison though they all (and even in DA2) fall flat compared to Morrigan's in Origin, which is hands down my favorite DA romance. I felt like it added so much to her character, plus (and I know she wasn't) it was almost as if she was created specifically for my Warden. They were freakin' soulmates.

Downside on all things romance, again, its one sided where we see why they like us but really we (our character anyways) have no reason to fall for them.

I romanced Cullen and Solas. I liked Cullen and his romance a lot. But Solas was amazing. I've really been wanting a more academic, intelligent, nuanced character as a love interest and, other than being light on actual romance content, he was perfect, heartbreak and all. And the fact that he also ended up being this really interesting figure from the game world's lore? Even better. I just hope we can at least get some closure (or maybe a happy ending? Please?) in a DLC Witch Hunt style. As for future games? More smart men please! Also, enough with tragic endings. Drama and hardship are fine, but a lot of us women are a bit over the whole having our characters' hearts broken, thanks.

Faveorite? None. I tried both Cass and Josie and of the two I find Cass to be more my style; but not by much. Josephine was a little too tame for my tastes.

As for what I'd like to see in the future-- I'd like my new PC to romance Bethany Hawke or Lace Harding in DA4. If Hawke and Tallis return I'd like some resolution for them aswell. The same goes for my HOF and Leliana.

I can't remember everything she says but she's very ... interested. When she first meets the Inquisitor for instance she says "You're well built!" and it's rather adorable.

Honestly, I was prepared to hate Sera (and at times I wanted to smack her) but I love her character. There's so much more to her. Really the same could be said about a lot of the companions though.

Just wanna say that I think Cassandra's romance is one of the most passionate and beautiful ones Bioware's written. I guess taste differs and while it was a bit too heavy on formalities and ideals with the flowers and candles and poetry (that is part of her character though) it felt right in the way it was handled and I like her responses to snarky Inquisitor too. Surprisingly I think it's the last scene that is the most touching one as well as the flirty moments before the actual sex-scene. The sex scene is good too, but it's not the most interesting part of the romance but I do appreciate the tasteful nudity though.

Iron Bull's is also surprisingly touching even if it is mostly meant to be funny, no matter whether you're straight or gay.

I don't like Dorian's because the gay aspect of his character was handled a bit too much in a SJW way and it puts a dampener on what I think of his romance.

Sera's good too, but it's all fun and games, but Cullen's I really like because like with Cassandra I think his romance really adds something more to his character, and it plays into his personal issues with having lyrium addiction. Thumbs up to whoever decided he should have a nightmare after the romance scene. It was perfect IMO.

Josephine's is terrible IMO. Too fangirly and disney-like. It was straight back to DA2's awfulness.

I've romanced Cullen, Solas, and Dorian so far. I loved all three, but Solas is my favorite. I'm romancing Sera now, and I'm really enjoying it so far. I'm going to try Cassandra's romance after this one. I think Solas will remain my favorite though.

Cullen romancers were fortunate to get the chess scene and the lake scene, in addition to everything else. DA:I's romances could've used more scenes like those in general, where the IQ and LI are separated from Inquisition-related matters or nefarious, angsty conflicts, and are instead just two people getting to know each other and slowly falling in love.

I swear to the Maker I am not trolling.

But Sergeant Kylon makes me laugh every time I play through those side quests in DAO. I would adore it if he came back as a companion, and even more if he were a romance option!

So far I've done Solas, Cullen, and half of Blackwall and Iron Bull's.

Solas is the best one, by far.

Blackwall's is just too in-your-face depressing. Like, I feel you have to either be really into him (which his looks and personality don't really do for me) to not back off after ALL his warnings - or else you need to just want to experience sadness/anger/disgust.

Iron Bull's was just kind of boring for me.

Cullen was pretty hot at first, but also got boring. Probably because I can't bring him anywhere, and nothing really came of his lyrium addiction.

Solas kept me interested the entire time. Hopefully we get some closure though. if it gets that, I'd say its the best romance Bioware's written.

I wonder how old he was. It's been well over 10 years since Origins already.

*snip*

Playthrough 2: Cullen; boring, predictable.

- He just doesn't "fit" my Inquisitor, which is odd considering they're a pro-templar Andrastrian - feels like the romance was aimed at a pro-mage mage character who has Cullen give up on lyrium - which this Inquisitor is not - really wish I had romanced Josephine instead as that would have at least fit the nobility side of this Inquisitor.

*snip*

What class did you romance him with? I've run his romance with all three classes and to me there's nothing special with being a mage. Yeah, you get some extra dialogue, but you also get extra dialogue as a warrior, especially if you spec into the templar line. I actually prefer to romance him as a warrior since it has an absolutely great dynamic.

I guess it's safe to say that my fav romance is Cullen, hands down. I love that it's simple...two people meeting and falling in love in the most unlikely of places. I found that rather refreshing. It has just enough cuteness, fluff, and angst...along with a bit of naughty hawtness.

I'm currently working on Blackwall and Iron Bull as well. I've seen them play out on youtube and they both look pretty solid.
