Ahhh, yeah, I can see how someone who hadn't played the first two games might be a bit lost at the Dread Wolf reveal. Heck, I knew all of the lore and that still caught me off-guard.
 
And I highly recommend doing a Solas romance maximum-lore run. Makes me feel like an archaeologist, just wandering around and noticing all of these ancient elven ruins and mosaics all over the place. Playing an elf who gradually begins to learn the truth about her people just feels so much more meaningful. In fact, it's Inquisition and Solas's character that really made me invested in Dragon Age's setting and lore. Before, I'd always been more of a Mass Effect fan because I'm more into sci-fi than fantasy, but this just gave me a whole new perspective on Dragon Age.

As much as I dislike solas, if he gave you a deeper appreciation for thedas, then that makes me happy.

(Still hoping for DLC to kill solas)

As a straight male I romanced Cassandra and Josephine with two different PCs...I've chosen Cassandra as my canon romance though it was a hard choice, Josie is adorable.

Requests for future romance? Please, if we have a gay in our team can he act like a straight dude (Like Ser Barris, I love this guy)? Or just at least someone who doesn't seem gay when you talk to him for the first time. 

And I don't hate Dorian, people. He's a funny guy! Always had him in my party.

I've done romances with Blackwall, IB, Cullen, Solas, Dorian, and Josie so far (next Sera then Cass).  TBH I have a hard time choosing my favourite, but if I had to rank them it would be- Cullen, Solas, IB, Dorian, Blackwall, Josie (though I think the Josie romance would be higher if I wasn't playing a dwarf.  The first kiss animation looks awkward, because of the height difference) and the scene on the couch my fingers go through her chest instead of around her shoulder because my arms are too short). That being said, there wasn't a single romance i haven't enjoyed.

Cullen overall is my favourite.  It's a great romance.  Then I guess I would select Cassandra by a nose over Josie.  Cassandra surprised me.  I thought I wouldn't like her character but she became a good friend at least in almost everyone one of my playthroughs (so far).

He just wants a gay (not bisexual) character or companion that doesn't have the traditional characteristics of sass and exuberance commonly present in gay characters in the media. 

 

Dorian is a really well-written character with a lot of depth, but I would be mildly disappointed if the next potential gay companion in DA's fourth installment had a similar personality.

 

I mean I would like it if he was more like Cullen or a male version of Cassandra. It's about time we got a gay knight in shining armor.

My favourite romance is Cullen and The Inquisitor. What I would *really* and truly like to see though is a reunion between Cullen and The Warden and then see what might transpire there.

I do have a soft squishy spot for Cullen/Amell. I like how that was touched on in DA:I. Made me go "aww".

As much as I want everyone to get what they want, I would laugh if the gay kisa is in a monogamous relationship that isn't the protagonist

Yeah. I guess being mentally tortured and watching friends die at the hands of demons might do that to a person. I get the impression he was a bit soft hearted naturally and it nearly broke him. Luckily, he was able to get past that after several years. Poor man.

It's hard to pick a favorite, but I'll have to say Dorian's. Cassandra and Cullen's romances are fantastic too, and I'm really starting to like Sera's (non-elf) romance. It's so adorable how she makes doodles of herself and the Inquisitor. And I love that they actually laugh and joke around during the romance scene.

Cullen could go insane in DAO ending slides and Leliana is back from the dead. I hope this wouldn't stop them from bringing Michel back if they wanted to.

 

I really liked Michel and he seems to have an interesting backstory. I've also wanted a chevalier companion since DAO. For a game that is set in Orlais it's really strange that we don't have any actual orlesians in the party.
