Thanks for posting that interview! I love Bioware even more after watching that. Full disclosure: I have had a couple drinks (kind of like dragon ****** just no iced tea or ice or dark rum ;-p  ... I don't mix crap (ie. ice tea) into my booze, I ain't no alchemist). I don't think that actually matters though because I would feel the same. They must have so much fun and I can't help but feel good for them. They should let us see them with their guard down in a relaxed state more often, it is very refreshing.

Yeh valuables is just the new name for junk, there is a video with Laidwaw  that somewhere, possibly the twitch stream with AWR but I am unsure.

That says something about the devs and game when they call the junk valuables.

Do they call DA2 and DAI valuable I wonder....  :P

Found it.

At about 9:18, he starts talking about it.

They changed the name of junk to valuables because of complaints about it being called Junk. I don't think they really understood the complaints tbh but there you have it.  :P

You mean the complaints were about that stuff being completely useless? Well, this time it isn't, actually, some items are worth quite a bit and the items in the valuables section sometimes account for about half of my profits when I sell my loot. It adds some variety to the loot instead of being all useless equipment.

Also, "valuables" is actually correct. Junk is the stuff you pay to get rid of.

If you look over the other "valuables" most have no description, while others do. My guess is: The ones with descriptions were allotted for quests that were removed from the game, but the item for that quest (such as Golden Horn) were never removed. Probably do to the developers forgetting to remove them.

I've seen this happen quite a few times across several games. Items are found within the game leaving players to wonder what they are for only to find out later it was for a quest that did not make the final cut.

I personally think these junk items, (description or no) should have never been placed in the game to begin with. Waste of resources to create such pointless crap.

If you check the DA Wiki it will tell you it is safe to sell and it is not related to any quest in the current game.

You can sell it. The description is just misleading. I also ended up keeping it in my inventory thinking I'd need it later on. Not so.

Every now and then, you find stuff with descriptions, which have clearly been keepsakes of deceased people - or are now, but your own. At least that's how I treat it. They may have no gameplay value, but hey, this is supposed to be an RPG, right?

If I find stuff, like the silver ring from a peculiar jewel case in a house in Fallowmire, of which I read in another document, all inhabitants had been locked inside to starve to death by the rest of the village in a futile attempt to stop a plague from spreading, I keep it. Same goes for the primitive plant brooch in "infantile handwriting" found at an empty camp (with toys lying about and clothes still hung up to dry) next to an active rift.

The game isn't dark very often -which is why I am ALSO hanging on to "Too Many Trousers"- but I'd feel bad for selling those things.

Just in case anyone is still searching for the answer to whether or not you should sell the "Golden Horn", the answer is an emphatic "YES!"

The Golden Horn is a loot item that is found in a chest at the Ancient Baths in the Exalted Plains. Here is the link to the WIKI confirming it. Even though it has "flavor text" like other quest related items, it is safe to sell!

Hope this helps!!!

Some of the things you need aren't so obvious.  Sold off malachite only to find you need it for a requisition and OF COURSE it's not marked as anything valuable.  Grr.

What does that have to do with this topic you necro'd?

The fact that valuables can also be valued materials? I thought it was a good point and valid post. But then I never get the outcry against old ("necro'd") posts anyway.

I found the info useful and helpful. Cheers.
