Inq: So, who should drink from the Well?

Cas: Let Morrigan take the risk.

Inq: Ok, Morrigan have at it.

*Cassandra disapproves*

Oh **** you too.

The woman is impossible to please. I took the mages as allies, she didn't like that. I didn't have Celene assassinated, she didn't approve of that. I gave the Wardens a chance to redeem themselves, she really didn't like that.

Okay so this time I'll do what she wants since I can ask her first and this is how she responds? High-maintenance girlfriend much?

Hmm... I remember in my playthrough that Cassandra approved when I let Morrigan drink from the well. I might be mistaken though.

Yeah, don't get me started on her forming the Circle again after I do all I can to ensure the Mages will be free. I was hoping Anders would show up at the end of the credits and blow up another Chantry tower lol.

^ Put Leliana in charge; she dissolves the Circles, tho I admit I did find Viv's vicious retaliations very....satisfying if she takes the throne.

But yeah, it's annoying when a companion goes "do this" then gets mad when you do it. Like...what do you want?

I never got disapprove when I let Morrigan drink from the well, and I had Cass in my party at the time. It may be bugged.

Cassandra gains approval if you drink (oddly enough).  I didn't have her with me, so I didn't get any dialogue with her as to the pros and cons of drinking.  I'm guessing she doesn't want a wild card like Morrigan to have that kind of power.  It was Blackwall, Solas and Varric with my Dalish and while two of those don't care, Solas disapproves (I think he even gets angry with you) for drinking from the well.

Heck, once I heard *paraphrased* you're Mythal's b*tch if you drink that stuff, my Dalish (who definitely believed in the Creators) bowed and said "After you" to Morrigan.

Hahah, I guess I'm just power mad because the second he said collective knowledge of the Dalish my Dalish Mage whipped out a straw and was like yes please.

It must be a bug... if she gains approval if you drink and disapproval if Morrigan drinks...

I remember she specifically said to let Morrigan drink from it if anyone is going to drink.

Its apperantly a bug tied to romance.

Companions who are romanced will dissapprove if you drink from the well, but they approve if they aren't.

I have to ask, do you not talk to Cassandra at all? Seriously if you pay attention to anything she says its pretty dam easy to figure what she is going to like or dislike.

This is why Cassandra, while being a decent follower and companion, will never be a good love interest for my Inquisitor.

She practically dislikes everything he does....

Taking the indirect approach ? Disapproval.

Don't believe in Maker ? Disapproval.

Allied with Rebel Mages ? Disapproval.

Prevented Celene's assassination ? Disapproval.

Gave Grey Wardens a second chance ? Disapproval.

Let Morrigan drink from the Well of Sorrows ? Disapproval.

However....

Give her terribly written smutty literature as a gift ? Greatly Approves.

Sigh...

Talk about being a shallow woman... Some people see that as cute and endearing but I find the fact that she greatly approves this but disapproves pretty much anything and everything else to be the quality of a shallow woman...

*Disgusted noise*....

Cassandra loved my Inquisitor and I was a non Maker worshipping Dalish mage who freed the mages, but just acting responsibly about the power you've been given goes a long way toward gaining her approval.  Being sympathetic as she discusses her doubts about the path she's on and dealing with the grief she feels over the loss of Justinia works well too.

She's not shallow, she just has strong opinions (and is the first to admit she's disgusted with herself for liking Varric's smutty book).  It's like a 'guilty pleasure' she can't put down.  It doesn't detract from her characterization, I felt it added to it, giving her a little more interesting depth. Just because her opinions don't coincide with your personal agenda doesn't make her 'shallow'.

If you disagreed with that, nothing wrong with it.  Not every character will be liked by everyone, but my experience with Cass was very different.  Inside of 5 minutes into the game, I loved her strength and her courage and her conviction.

Well, perhaps not a bug then. After all, it makes sense for your love interest to disapprove you taking a hazardous course of action.

She doesn't dissapprove if you don't believe and she doesn't dissaprove if you prevent Celene's death. You only gain approval if you let her die.

Cassandra is pragmatic, but also has some strong opinions. If you just listen to her then you will know from the get-go that she was in favour of the circles, although in a more relaxed variant. She wishes to reform the chantry and its institutions, not dissolve them. So obviously if you let the mages be independent she disapproves. Celene is a spider and Cassandra wants a warrior on the Orlesian throne (the duke) because she believes him to be more useful to fighting Cory. The Wardens are a liability and dealt in blood magic and demons, so they're too much of a wildcard.

I romanced her in my first game despite getting the mages as allies, keeping Celene on the throne and conscripting the Wardens. You just have to please her in other manners. Be pragmatic, compassionate, understand her views of the Maker, that sorta thing.

Not if you unharden her.  She then persuades the opponents to follow her.  There are positive outcomes for any of the 3 possible Divines.  And strangely there are dissidents in all 3 outcomes.  Which is really surprising in Cassandra's case.

Huh. I wonder, however, if it's not a bug, but WaI? They are expressing their feelings about what the consequences may mean to the romance, after all. Something that, other than "Mythal's ******" we don't know.

I have to ask, do you not talk to Cassandra at all? Seriously if you pay attention to anything she says its pretty dam easy to figure what she is going to like or dislike.

I have to ask, did you actually read the topic at all? The issue was that I asked her opinion, did as she said and she still disapproved. Wether or not it's dam easy to figure out how she reacts at all other times is dam inconsequential to the fact that she disapproved to me doing as she said.

Again, to clarify here, the issue is not that she disagreed with most of the things I did before, that's just context, the issue is that she doesn't like it when I do as she says either which then led into the joke about her being a high maintenance girlfriend.

All of which should have been pretty dam easy to figure out if you'd paid attention to the topic you were responding to.
