I don't want people to hear every sound I produce in my living room. Not even friends. So I unplug it when playing DAI.
Push to talk much needed in the upcoming patch.

I just mute everyone. If you mute, you are muted for them.

Is this just for PC or is it for Xbox as well? I've muted several people and always wondered if they can hear me bitching still :')
The mic plug in for the xbone is so freaking huge and ungainly, when plugged in to changes how you have to hold the controller, for that reason I am rarely plugged in.
PC Boom mic with an on/off switch FTW!
patching to the beta origin has a thing in there that allows you to use push to talk, but it ONLY works in origin chats, the game still forces open mic.
its great that my computer is in my frontroom....

... What i whas typing.. xD... My origin beta has a push to talk since last update.
And that's why I got a mic that has it's own mute button.
Thats nice and all Silvershroud, but some of us are using 3rd party communication programs, and thus cannot mute our microphone due to one game's lazy design choices.
It's horrendous that a PC First game (lol, not that anyone believed that PR mombojumbo anyhow) does not have a push to talk option enabled. We can't even turn the damn feature off!
I've played a few games where people are using 3rd party voice chat and don't know the rest of us can hear them. Or people who are having a conversation with someone in the same room and it doesn't seem they are aware the mic is open. Most of the rest are chewing or coughing or have positioned their mic inside their lungs.
I would really like a PTT feature!
I'm currently disabling my mic when I play, but it really needs to be fixed.
I like to talk with my friends on Skype when I play. I shouldn't have to choose between not talking or having everybody in the game be able to listen in on my conversations(or doing something ridiculous like having to mute everybody every single game).
i have a mute button on the cord. I leave it muted unless I really need to talk
My headset has a control node on my desk so I mute it there... but I still miss being able to Skype. I can understand having that as a setting since ME was AWFUL at detecing mic activity, so mad, wow. It also encourage communication....
...but it also means listening to cooling fans. Traffic. Roommates doing dishes. Conversations. Sassy remarks people make about the game. Swearing at OP enemies or terrible loot. Muttered complaints about another player being a dumb***.
Overall, it doesn't seem worth it. They should at least provide a PtT option.
I unplug my mic everytime i play DA:I.
Its a bit odd of them to leave out such a feature considering ME3 MP had a push to talk option, and seeing as the development team of ME3 MP worked on DA:I, not sure how they missed something like this.
I don't turn on my mic preamp. I'd love to have push-to-talk.
Who doesn't have a mute button on their headset these days? x.x; every PC gaming headset I've ever bought has had one, and on xbox one they always come on them

Just install a virtual device (like CABLE), set it to default and point ts or whatver you use to your physical device.

Why would you use headsets?
I use a cheaper Turtle Beach headset. About 30 dollars, Canadian. It has the same features as an 80 dollar Turtle Beach headset I used to have. It has an on/off switch for my mic, and it has adjustible Audio volumes for both the console game volume and the chat volume. (It's usable on PC with the chat volume affecting everything.)
Honestly, seeing this stuff offered at only 30 dollars, I can really say you're just getting ripped off if yours don't have these features.
14 Euro headset w/o switch here. I never came across an online game without a ptt feature yet. I would have bought a mic with switch if I knew beforehand that DAI would miss ptt, but I also would like to talk to some friends on TS while playing.
Somehow I don't hink they will implement the ptt feature. Considering all the bugs and complaints I don't think it's a priority for BW.
Considering you specified living room, I'm assuming console player.
... so... what button on the controller is not in use for anything? Especially one you can press in the middle of a heated battle?
Of course they won't implement it. There's no room, to.

I would like to bind ptt to my ^ button (left of the 1 button), which would not be possible right now even if the game had ptt because it opens the console. Or maybe to a mouse button (I have five).
I just mute everyone. If you mute, you are muted for them.
Good to know, thank you.

I will give it a shot.Thank you.
