OK so here we go I got guess. The 25% applies to initial weapon eq damage before your stats tick in. Better weapons will improve it while using bad weapons as high stat character will decrease it.
It makes sense hence description. I am also pretty sure about it surpassing armor due tests posted above where FD damage on armored target had no difference in damage increase vs non armored target. So 25% is applied to raw weapon number. This means it scales with your weapon only, calculated before stats , and surpass armor.

In conclusion, Poison is decent for archers in general, and for bosses in general. The upgrade, however, is only useful for builds that focus on auto attacks. A dps increase of 3.5% for a Long Shot is not worth 2 points and 1 ability slot taken!

Glad I got that sorted out. 2 more points to use elsewhere on my archer ;)

I might do some test on different armor later. While It may be true what you say, it bugs me i have gotten around 18% damage increase on all 3 tests. It should be more varied, or closer to 25%. It could be RNG, or it could be because armor takes 7% of the damage. I am uncertain how much armor Dragonlings got. Any place to check that?

If there wasn't an 8 skill limit, I'd say it's totally worth getting but since there is, it's not worth your time at all. Sadly, many skills end up hitting this category.

problem is the 8 skill limit. I think PW is not bad but when i have only 8 slots then i have to prioritize. Hell even if i had 2 unkeyed slots would be nice so i can dump mark of rift and mark of death on them.

Btw does mark of the rift work on dragons IE does it do damage to them?

So worthwhile for autoattack damage. Wish poison could tick while sleep effect is in place, that would be interesting...

Anyway, this ability is a good example of how the 8 slots restrictions really downgrades the usefulness of such modest buffs. (Compare to Warrior damage buff for the entire party.)

.The inclusion of abilities like poison weapons really makes me lament the presence of sustainables. I can't even comprehend why they were removed and the game taken in the direction of a poor man's action rpg.

First thing first: The dragonlings got 19 armor.
Second of: I wanted to test the poison itself. It got me rather confused! Poisoned Weapons, 25% weapon damage every second.

Bow: 85 weapon damage
Theoretical damage: 25% of 85 = 21,25 damage per second.

I also noticed the first shot done after stealth hits harder. The average poison-after-stealth was about 90-100. So the first poison hit is affected by the stealth damage modifier. This makes me wonder: Is the damage modifier affected by other sources of damage multipliers? Such as Horn of Valor, or the Mighty Offense Tonic.
Something is just off here!

Yes, they are affected and they crit. They crit if you have Mercy Killing and attacking sleeping target.

Poison damage crits and multiplied in same fashion. +25% weapon damage in Infected Wounds is not, it calculated directly on your Weapon damage for autoattacks and is just another +25% WD added to your ability final % WD multiplier.

PW is better on archers since they can spread, only thing that their poison hits much less because it bases on WD damage, and 2 dagger damage is > 1 bow .

So the conclusion is that pw sucks? Good to know I'd always assumed it's 50% damage but 12.5% is not worth one of the action slot. I've been playing a suboptimal build all this time.

It not sucks. It is good for builds that feature flask of lightning, spinning blades, leaping shot, and useful on archer to spread dots generally and any build which features certain load of auto attacks (crit builds, mainly mercy killing ones) since poison get multiplied and aa damage also is 125% WD with PW upgrade. It also surpass armor, by the way. When your target have hi damage mitigation but vulnerable to poison it is great idea to compensate mitigated damage by not affected poison one.

Wait, bow does more damage. A dagger can do 117 weapon damage, but a bow will be up to 145 or something. Bows have higher weapon damage, so things like hidden blades or shadow strike will hit way harder with bows.

daggers are up to much highter damage. Same level daggers do much more damage than bows.

Did this ever change?

If not, a good reminder for anybody!

(Math might be off. I can't remember. The conclusion is the same regardless though!)
