I find it much longer than that.

Didn't they just mean that the main-quest took you 20-30 hrs?

Yep, they said if you just played the main story straight through it'd take around that length of time. I'm sure everything else there is to do adds a significant amount of time to the game.

It's a shame that internet forums only ever seem to be used by people that have something negative to say. Trolls, or people who are simply determined to take a dump on an otherwise well recieved game - they always seem to make their voices heard.

A bit of constructive critiscism is totally fine, and the best way to iron out problems. But most of the crap I read here is people whining and ****ing. Kind of hard to take anything that is said seriously and real negative issues of merit are simply swamped by all the childish whining and trolling.

Either way, I plan to enjoy Mass Effect 2 for what it is. No amount of negativity is going to change that. No game is pefect and most people can accept that fact.

Wait, so you are complaining that this game is aprox only 20-30hours!? God damn, thats a freaking relief, these days games tend to last only 10hours or so...

40 hours for the main plot is long as hell for how detailed the story and characters are!!! what the hell! I beat ME1 in 11 hours and 58 minutes rushing a bit. Jeez ME2 is long! nice!

Um, no. Kotor was not a larger or longer game than ME1.

You say it when someone goes out of their way to rant or just talk about something, and frankly, nobody cares.

I'm sure that ME2, like ME1 is as long as you put into it. For me, Longest ME1 Playthrough: ~50hrs(didn't even do all of the sidequests); Shortest: ~15hrs (avoided most of the sidequests and didn't even pick up Garrus).

i would like to point out that dao wasnt to good in the graphical department as the environements feel repeatative and if you wanted to you could rush through it like you did with ME2, completeing it in the same time. ME2 is light yeears ahead of games that are shooters(im looking at u infinty ward and your game mw2) but i have no idea y people love this rpg element in MW1 it was very hard to work with and cluncky. Infact alot of rpgs have a very poor invetory system where u have to sit there for 1 hour just to do a 10 min battle. its not real life where you have to make all the right choices its a game and in the problem of people playing it dont have N7 training you cant really extent missions and make them more true to life as per say

lol, Jade Empire was 20+ hours long, with side quests completed, and at a free and easy pace.

Cool story well I played the game before any of you did and I know what I am talking about, if any of you are into RPG's and I mean truely into RPG's then you will know exactly what I am talking about. Its funny as soon as EA's name appears on any game it is instantly ruined.

Bioware why did you not just go to Microsoft instead??

Hey, genius. You said you thought Dragon Age:Origins was "awesome" in your original post. Now you're saying that any game with EA's name on it is instantly ruined. You do realize that EA's name IS on Dragon Age: Origins, right? You have officially just contradicted yourself. Next time, maybe you should actually think before you spout off like that. Here are two important distrinctions you might want to think about: ME is an RPG-lite shooter (and always has been),  whereas DA:O is a mostly pure tactical RPG (in the old-school tradition). Judge each game on its own merits, and if you don't like RPG-lite shooters, you shouldn't have picked ME2 up.

Sounds to me like you've just skipped dialogue and rushed through the game. I'm 35 hours in and I haven't even assembled all of the teammates, I've also got all of the teammate's personal quests left except for Miranda. It's all your fault for rushing.

No Bioware themselves stated that ME2 is 20-30hrs long.

LIAR! Bioware said basicly 30-40 hours... But i expect most of us will finish the game about 20-30 hours... I finish ME1 in about 25hours for first time. It will be same

I don't know how you guys finish your RPG's so fast. I crawl through every single area talking to every NPC that I can find. ME1 took me 60+ hours on my first play through. I imagine this will take around the same amount of time as that did.

I am surprised by how long people took to play ME1. My first play through took 22 hours (just looked it up) and I did all the side quests and never skipped dialogue. What were you all doing? Micromanaging maybe?

"italics for emphasis, Are you really that ridiculously inane, to suggest they get rammed harder by those thieving bunch of "Wannabe gaming humps?"

good god man!!! We already have to wait, thanks to those friggen' losers,(360).............and their intentional, delayed releases of IP from reputable software houses!

And yes, I do play on a PC, because I'm "playing,"the way it's MEANT to be played!!!" My videocard alone is worth more than your entire, *cough* "gaming" *cough* thing.

Oh sometimes I really have to ask myself," why even waste, the bloodpressure meds"
