Story justification to circumvent bug [mild spoiler for those who haven't reached Skyhold]

I'm stuck in Skyhold, with my Inquisitor about to meet Hawke. Why? 'Cause her voice changes from that of a young woman to a gruff old dame when she does. This bug is completely destroying my immersion and keeping me from moving on.

I've spent the time running around exploring Skyhold and finishing all available War Room operations and mini-missions. Mostly because it made no story sense for my Inquisitor to gallivant off to explore the world and keep Varric waiting. But there is no telling when a patch for this bug might arrive and I've finished all possibly Skyhold diversions. I find myself stuck; unable to move on, unwilling to wait.

Please, BSN-ers, give my Inquisitor a good reason to ignore Varric and just go out and get on with the game.

I think it has something to do with making a custom Hawke.

as for a reason to go on and ignore varric.... you cant. Seriously, Hawke has a couple of plot centric quests linked to her/him. so you have to talk to Hawke.

Yeah, don't customize Hawke and the voice will not change.

I know that, guys. But non-customized Hawke doesn't look like my Hawke. That's immersion-breaking too. I have two bad choices - keep playing with a Hawke who looks nothing like my Hawke or keep playing with an Inquisitor who's suddenly become another person.

That's why I'm asking for story justifications to keep Varric waiting. I know it's neurotic; most of you are going,"Why does it matter? Just do whatever you want!", but I hope someone out there gets my problem and can help me with it.

From what I've heard, this mostly happens if you're using the non-default voice for your race, like British on a Qunari. I think anyone's safest bet is to just stick with the default voice for whatever they're playing for now.

No idea if you can even keep Varric waiting. That part is kinda plot critical. Might just need to grit through something.

Well, if a patch doesn't come out for this, I'll have to try that for my next playthrough. I'm 25+ hours in and I'd really rather press on.

I wish they'd just tell us when a patch is coming. The wait would be bearable then. Now, I don't even know if this bug will get fixed.

If I have to just grit my teeth and move on, I guess I'd rather have not!Hawke over not!Inquisitor.
