Anyone else encounter this (what I'm assuming, HAS to be a bug)?

I gathered up all the mats to make her a set of armor. This armor was pretty specifically focused on resistances, as I was gearing her up for a couple of dragon fights. The armor has two restrictions: Rogue only, and Elf-Trained only.  I assumed this wouldn't be a problem since ... ya know ... Sera's an Elven Rogue. Alas, it recognizes that she's a Rogue, but not that she's an Elf, when I try to equip the armor. Worst part? She is currently WEARING armor crafted from the same schematic, but that armor doesn't have the resistances I'm after for the dragon fight.

Armor she's currently wearing:

"Eluvian's Grace"

232 Armor Rating

Item Level 19

42% Cold Resistance

+8 Constitution

+14 Cunning

+8 Dexterity

+15% Magical Defense

Armor that the game won't allow her to wear, because it says she's not an elf:

"Elemental Denial"

236 Armor Rating

Item Level 21

42% Cold Resistance

28% Electrical Resistance

28% Fire Resistance

Restriction: Rogue only

Restriction: Elf-Trained only

I'm only posting both armor pieces just incase anyone that reads this can see something that I might have missed, something that would cause her to be unable to wear it, outside of a glitch.

I've not yet reached the end of the game.  I've always wondered why it says "Elf-Trained", "Human-Trained", "Dwarf-Trained", instead of just "Elf", "Human", and "Dwarf". This lead me to think that there may be some quest I can undertake to allow character to receive training to wear other races' gear.  That's the only thing I can think of that MIGHT be a cause of this, but I'm pretty much at a loss.

If anyone knows what's wrong, how to fix it, or how to work around it, I'd be grateful.

Think its just a bug.

I've not encountered any quest which would lead to some form of "Training" in another species and I doubt there would be one.

Afraid I've not got a work around as I haven't experienced it myself.

Sorry to not be more helpful

Maybe she is technically human-trained? I noticed she couldn't wear Dalish stuff in my game and assumed that was why.

She doesn't like anything too elvy.  Its just the way she is programmed.

I think that's on purpose. She is certainly not elf-trained and talked to my elf about NOT being trained. My Dalish elf was slightly appalled. Perhaps you don't get similar dialogue if you are not an elf?

I guess thats why its "elf TRAINED armour" rather than "elf armour".

This. She is the only companion (I think) who doesn't have their training match up with their race, but she's also the only one with a good reason. She was raised by humans and trained by no one, after all.

I agree that the human trained restriction makes sense for Sera but in general I think that all racial restrictions on armor are dumb and limiting. I could wear Armor of the Dead Legion as a human in Origins or Templar gear as an Elf, there were no restrictions and everything was fine.

Such restrictions only limit the game and are a step backwards.

I remember seeing in another thread (I think it was the one about male elves) that Sera uses a human female body shape instead of the elven one, so that kinda explains why she cant use elven stuff.

Edit: Here's the thread -----  http://forum.bioware...oblems/page-27

Yep, it's obvious enough. She's taller than most elves and has more meat on her than a male elf. (elf body model is a bit disappointing in this game tbh)

The statement doesn't work. "Elf Trained" Versus "Elf Race" isn't relevant. She trained herself. She is an elf. Therefore she is elf trained. The armor should work. I claim bugged.

I think it is by design, tbh. Otherwise it would actually just say "[race] only" as previous locked armours in DAO did.

I think, realistically, how would you expect Sera - who hates elves so much even her 'little people' rule barely applies to them - to feel about being expected to wear dalish armour?

Sera hates the Dalish and gets obnoxious (more obnoxious) if you bring up her "elfyness". It's not a bug. She can't wear elf trained armor because she won't wear elf trained armor.

I believe people got into some tech or whatever and found that Sera has the human body type, so it graphically might be designed only for elves (The Elf Inquisitor and Solas).
