He must be one of the most responsible Mages I've met so far (apart from Wynne and Morrigan). I respect people who have respect for their culture strangely enough, I dislike my Nigerian heritage. Other than that, I don't have muich to say.

It was kind of hard for me to get along with him since he had kind of a lax view on blood magic and spirits... still, he wasn't the worst companion ever.

He's a liar, and a manipulator, all for his own ends?

For all that, I still can't bring myself to hate him.

Best written character of the game in my opinion. Intelligent, caring and wise but mostly using his knowledge and wisdom in an effort to connect with others more so than hurt or belittle them. Morrigan is an exception because she keeps making false claims about the ancient elves and their gods of which is his people and himself as the dread wolf. He has made mistakes in the past but is trying to atone for them and help his people.

He has made mistakes, and is in quicksand for some of them he keeps trying to fix it but makes bigger mistakes.

He always seemed like an adviser, and I heeded his advise.

Even knowing what I know about him, I still love the character. Listening to him talk about the fade and history is something that I truly liked. I honestly wish I could talk to him more. He's so seeped in history and if he read the codex to me I'd be all for it.

He may have started the mess but I still like him just the same. I'm going to miss him when he leaves.

I like him and he can be a good friend once you get to know him. He makes mistakes and tries to fix things but he carries a heavy burden that he can never let others know about.

Even though I always play as a Male character his romance for female characters so far blows away any other romance in this game due to how well designed it surrounds the plot twist at the end in the Epilogue.

Though it also leaves Bioware with a level of expectation for them to properly develop Solas' romance if they create a DLC where we can have Solas return to the Inquisition.

After the ending I really like him, but sadly he's rather quiet in my party most of the times. I've realized that his character is probably best utilized in certain situations like going to elven ruins or the fade. Dorian is my absolute favorite and always first pick as much as I now like solas, so I will run with two mages if I don't need a rogue for locks (that's really all I use them for as they die very fast and don't do enough damage to warrant their use for me personally unless it's small foes in which case Cole is pretty good with daggers but nearly dies half the time - mages are actually less squishy due to keeping them ranged). But I do really like Solas. He's just not very interesting a lot of the time. I've had him with varric, cass, cole (with cole doing crestwood was great!) and blackwall. So far, dialogue/banter has been pretty much not worth having him except for crestwood. But I roll with two mages lately and two champion shield warriors (myself as one of them) just to see what he brings to the party. So far, it's very situational.

I thought he was pretty interesting character and did feel for him, didn't trust him from the very beginning however and knew he was going to be something evil.

"Ohai, I saw you guys need some help with that thar hole' in da sky and I got vast knowledge of the fade and elven lore yet not dalish and- *holds up Quzzy's hand to close breach* my theories just so happen to be right! : D"

Wat. That just smelled of hidden agenda.

I found Solas rather boring. But i suppose that's partly the point. With Morrigan and Flemeth you could always tell they were up to something but there was nothing to say what it was. With Solas, it's like he's so ordinary and uninteresting. He really just kind of faded to the background for me. Imo it all makes him one of the best characters the series has had.

If you read more into who Solas is and what his true motivations were, you'll realize he is not evil at all.  He rebelled against the elven pantheon because he disliked the way they were abusing their power and the people.  Unfortunately, by banishing them in hopes it would have helped, it made things worse because the people went astray.  There's more to Solas than meets the eye.  Just takes some digging and investigation.

Love Solas.  Kept getting a Spock vibe from him as I played.  :P   I enjoyed talking to him in the game, he was my Quizzy's advisor (not counting the other 3).

His romance is the best one Bioware made in years. I feel some recent Bioware game forgotten the best part of the romances was the cute moments/flirting that gave the game meaning and made us want to advance the plot and see what comes next. Not just rush to a sex scene as soon as possible.

The sex scenes were never even needed at all. Solas romance scenes though gives actual meaning to the player character and gives motivation to go on. His kiss in the fade and vallaslin scenes were the best in the game. Without these things Inquisition would still be a good game for me but lack a bit when it comes to allow me to flesh out my character. With them it became one of the best games this year.

I didn't like him..  He seems very odd throughout the game.

Of course looking back yes it's very well done by the writers.

I don't think I can properly articulate how much I love Solas. I probably shouldn't say some of it on the internet anyways.

Wolf Hunt DLC please.

Very well written character, but if my Dalish Elf who romanced him ever found out the truth about him (actually Dread Wolf, and GAVE THE ORB TO STUPID CORPHY), she'd slit her own throat (as she may now be bound to him- eh, creepy, creepy, creepy!) and have her companions make him dead.

I like him well enough though- fascinating character- though I'm deliberately trying to ****** him off on my current jackass character.  Controlled him and made him kill his friend, even.  That should get me a punch, right?  Right?

That sounds quite likely, still though he is responsible for the breach and all the misery that came with it. That doesn't necessarily make him evil but I think the untrustworthy trickster reputation he has does have some truth to it all things considered.  :P

He's a grey character with an unknown agenda, just like Flemeth.

I thought he was interesting, but forgettable. It was obvious that he was up to something and he knew more than he let on, but you're never really allowed to question him about it. It was much like Anders, you knew he was up to something, but all you could do was sigh and let the pieces fall where they may.

I did love how he outwitted Sera quite a bit though, that was fun.

Solas breaks my heart. Not even talking romance, just in general. Everything appears to have gone wrong for him, and yet he's one of the most compassionate and understanding characters in the game. He always seems so lonely, even though you can tell that he cares deeply about the world.

I know I've posted this banter before, but I believe it really encapsulates his character.

Spoiler

Solas and Cass are probably my favourite characters in the game. They both have so much integrity.

I think he is a very well written character. I am eager to find out the rest of his story. I also notice that somehow his facial animations and his eyes are more alive, sometimes I feel he sees much more that he says, and it shows on screen much more than for any other character. (Pardon my poor English I cant decribe it better. )Maybe that just me.:)
