Can't be taken at face value. Untrustworthy.

Furthermore, considering how things have worked out when he took his OWN advice I don't believe mindlessly following his words is the best option. He does know a lot about everything, but filters the information before it gets to you. Which goes back to the trust thing.

The bad guy for Dragon Age 4

I really can't see him as main villain material, though.   Maybe if Flemythal really did take over his body but other than that, no.

I think he is a very well written character. I am eager to find out the rest of his story. I also notice that somehow his facial animations and his eyes are more alive, sometimes I feel he sees much more that he says, and it shows on screen much more than for any other character. (Pardon my poor English I cant decribe it better. )Maybe that just me. :)

Not just you. His face is very mobile. I have a feeling they did it on purpose, to give you the impression that there's more to him than you first thought.

He's a very knowledgeable guy, but he made a terrible mistake. On my second playthrough its sometimes interesting to see the double meaning in what he says.

Like when he lies to me about not knowing what Cory used to create the breach.

if you get both him and Cole in a party he will get exposed but at that point the Inquisitor is clueless as to what exactly they are talking about.

Solas is a fascinating character and sexy as hell... so, as far as I'm concerned, he can lie all he wants. :P

He, given events, should return at some point.

I'm going the usual route of playing mage hero. Then there's 2 excellent mage candidates to pick from. Solas draws shortest straw.

He just doesn't interest me when compared to Vivienne and Dorian that instantly strike reaction, whatever good or bad. Solas is just kinda, meh. Reminds me of Merrill, being very harmless and by the book and thus, dull.

What I think about him? XD he has one heck of a vocabulary. He inspires myself to be more..smart and cunning towards people without them realizing it. Like a slow burn, like uhm..scotch bonnets? ;D oh qui qui. heheh but all seriousness Solas is very secretive. I don't know a thing about him besides his stories about the fade. I romanced him as a dalish and he was still secretive no matter how far in the story we went. dude's a hard code to crack in the beginning. towards the end though, if everything turned out how he wanted I've no doubt he would've opened up more to our inquisitors

Solas is my favourite fictional character since a long time. I don't remember the last time I was this obsessed lol. He's so awesome. He is thoughtful, gentle, and many things.

I had no idea how much I was going to love his character.I expected to like him from his "everything is more complicated than that"description and grey morality, but Solas turned out to be my favourite party members! He's so complicated, ambiguous and mysterious that I found him utterly fascinating.
The voice acting was also a major factor for me liking him.

I think Solas at face value from the beginning is already interesting. His insistence that spirits are people and that the veil helps create "demons" as we know them is truly terrifying to consider but not altogether improbable in theory (removing the veil or ripping holes in it? still not a good idea). I love that so many options to question near the beginning gain favor with him - you question him about things or other people about things with him around, and he'll often slightly approve. That particular quality piqued my interest from the start. I didn't do the romance but I'm definitely keen to.

I think Solas, in total, with all we know - I think he's truly captivating. It's so absurdly well-written. I didn't think a video game could pull a reveal like that off, with so many hints and wonderful foreshadowing moments that are so clear in retrospect but so not on the nose (unlike Blackwall's deal, which is like practically painted on his forehead). Beautiful, beautiful writing.

I don't like him, he annoyed the eff out of me when I decided to make the rebel mages the Inquisition's prisoners.

I even smacked him one. He bores me with all of his demon/spirit talk.

"It looks awful, but it works".

On a serious note, he was not charismatic enough (in appearance, voice acting, behavior and banters) to play such a role. May be it's a cliche-talk but I don't like a boring dusty clerk to represent a god. Even Superman in his RL incarnation looked more adventurous and interesting.

That might have killed the fun of the reveal, though. Which is probably why they went with bald hobo as opposed to dreadlocks smirky guy from concept art.

I wasn't really expecting to like him but I was proved wrong from the very beginning.

His opinions were always interesting to hear, made all the better because he had a really nice voice, I must admit.

Then, of course, came the ending and that turned him badass in about 10 seconds.

When he was revealed in game (that T pose concept of his basic clothes) I knew that they toned down his look to hide something.

So, so very ugly and weird. With the beigeness, awkward face and santa's helper leggings. I complained but I wasn't really serious about it,  I was already interested in him from the go. The table artwork. Why is he smirking while the whole room is in panic mode? We've got some tibits, images. Still hooked.

Then PW's interview was released. And how could you not know he was lying? The entire interview was suspicious as f.., Weekes spend the entire time trying to paint him as a boring, normal hedge mage that btw is also an autodidact fade expert. Yeah, right.

You know what I wasn't expecting? Him to be that well written, voiced and animated. To charm me the entire game as Solas and not the secret he hides.

Solas, the man, with all his strengths and flaws is such a beautifully constructed character.

My favorite part about Solas, personally. There is a ton of foreshadowing in the things he says, and the sorts of things that make him angry. [The Inquisitor claiming to be a demigod, for instance.]
