Immeasurably disappointed. Why did he have to be an elf? As if they needed more reasons to be labeled as selfish idiots who care for nothing but their own ambitions.

I don't think I can properly articulate how much I love Solas. I probably shouldn't say some of it on the internet anyways.

Yep. We have to fill in our imaginations with the rest. I understand why Patrick wrote the romance the way he did, but still...

He must be one of the most responsible Mages I've met so far (apart from Wynne and Morrigan). I respect people who have respect for their culture strangely enough, I dislike my Nigerian heritage. Other than that, I don't have muich to say.

My first playthough was as a female elf mage, who looked up to Solas as a mentor and guide (she romanced Cullen though). For my second playthrough, I will make another elf that romances him. These two experiences roleplaying have shaded my own personal opinions of Solas as a character I like. I appreciate a character who prefers cunning over punching people in the face like Sera to solve things. 

 

When I finally get around to my qunari female who romances Sera... we shall see how her interactions with Solas changes my own opinion of him, if at all.

He's rather different. Seems to have a lot of empathy and compassion for spirits but a strong dislike of mortals of any race, or at least their cultures and worldviews.

I think in times past he was a power hungry tyrant or some sort of trickster but reformed which is why he's nicer. Or it can all be an act. The problem is we know Solas for how he presents himself (remember he talked about perception, so the wise old elven hermit display might be one of his acts where as his Fen'Harel persona might be colder and more brutal.

He's not among my favorites BUT I am interested in seeing the role he has to play.

 I respect his knowledge and experience, but think his views are crazy.

 

 

Sadly, this is a prime example of where approval system made for a lesser experience. Solas would have been an excellent "rival" to my character, but since we're back to the Origins system, his approval never went anywhere solid with me and thus the no special interaction.

 

I too wish there was a rival system, I imagine the come-backs to be amazing.

 

I liked Solas well enough, but his unknown intentions and power happen to terrify me.

Hope he becomes the main villian in da4 tbh. After cory's very blegh motivations and 1 dimensionality, solas's complex motives will be so refreshing...he's gonna bring down the veil, not just put a stupid hole in it...watch and seee

Well you can punch him in the face. Unlike other characters, he doesn't ever leave the inquisition even after you do though

I really enjoy Solas as a character but Maker that man can be an annoying ass. First playthrough I had him in a party with Varric and Iron Bull, and he wouldn't stop bugging Varric about how the Dwarves should be trying to revitalize their people (despite the fact that Varric agrees with him), and keeps fighting with Iron Bull over the Qun (despite everything IB does to try to defuse and agree to disagree). Now I'm playing a Dalish rogue and have him in a party with Sera, and he keeps condescending to her for not being elfy enough, and condescends to me for not be the right kind of elfy.

 

At least he gets along with Blackwall, what with both of them being conspicuously ambiguous about their pasts.

He's different, to be sure, and I like the ideas of his backstory, how the Fade isn't so scary because he doesn't think the demons are going to possess him. It's like a self-fulfilling prophecy. 

 

That being said, he's too elf-supremacist. He mouths off about how bad humans were, how they are "trying", but the elves, dwarves, and qunari are just as bad: The only good works seem to come from humans and the rare Dalish elf. He keeps talking about everything that was lost. When it comes down, the elves lost for a reason. Maybe they were warring among themselves, maybe they underestimated the shems, but it's been over a thousand years, and they lost. Get over it and move on.

My favourite companion in the game. Really hoping BioWare don't drop the ball with him going forward.

 

Also really disappointed I couldn't romance him on my fem Qunari.
