The Dwarven puzzle box requisition needs obsidian but I can't find any. I think it's in the Hinterlands but I don't know where.

There's a spot to the east of Redcliff where you can set up a Camp that leads to Lady Shayna's Valley, you'll find Obsidian in there but (not going to spoil it too much) you probably won't want to go there unless you're level 11-12ish at least.

 

I believe Exalted Plains was one of the places where I found quite a bit of Obsidian too but I'll be darned if I'm not completely certain.

I suggest you leave that requisiton be at the moment. Obsidian is not in the Hinterlands, but there's plenty of it in other areas. Try reading the description of places, it has "materials found here" section in the end with a list of herbs and minerals.

There's plenty of obsidian in the Hinderlands as described by TheGreenLion. And I would actually suggest doing as many requisition quests as possible at low levels as they are more useful that way. At later stages of the games, requisition quests basically become obsolete.
