Okay. I am getting more than frustrated this time around. For some reason, Blackwall will always target the backside diagonal leg from where he is standing. Regardless of behavior settings, tactics set or what I want him to attack.
Is there any way to get the tank to attack the front leg, or the head? It's beyond retarded seeing blackwall getting tailswiped, or clawed at his back. It makes no sense!
From my experience, AI melee fighters only attack 20% of the time against dragons anyway. So I just go in with 3 ranged and 1 melee (shield), and don't even worry about any DPS from my tank
It's not the dps that is the problem. The problem is 2 folded:
1) As he runs around like an idiot, he get hit behind. Instead of getting hit by 1, he get hit for 250.
2) He spins the dragon around so I need to constantly re-position Varric and Solas.
I managed to get him to not attack the back leg by going into tac cam -- attack head. HOWEVER, now he turns his back every time the dragon breathes fire.
The tank AI is so unbelievable stupid it's just weird. I think I got a better luck soloing this as an archer, than relying on the tank actually not taking all my potions.
Set potion reserves to ALL so your tank won't yank all your potions, disable all tactics except for shield wall and have it on as prefered. It should improve his survivability. Either than that, no way around it from my experience.
The only fix I found was to choose target via tact cam. Any other way would make him run for the diagonal leg of his position. It isn't perfect, but it works -- there are only 10 dragons, so I only need to rely on this 10 times!
