We on PC aren't shackled by a separate company's QA process so why not let us opt in to beta test the patches?
Many games on that OTHER service allow this sort of opt in so it can't be that hard to implement and I think it breeds good will to know the patches are moving forward when people are beta testing them. Most people won't opt in cause they don't want to risk a broken patch, but it gives you a wide net to catch potential issues the patch might introduce. And it's not like we'd be beta testing new content, just fixes, so the traditional reasons for holding back aren't really present.
*my luck would be that you can do this and I didn't notice
