An in-gameplay response you can make in Hushed Whispers quest. What the hell? Where is Connor when this happens, what am I supposed to be looking at, what is going on here?
"Connor, nooo!"

You might have gotten the bug where enemies and npcs turn invivislbe for that bit.
Apparently based on comments he turns into a demon or something. I've yet to replay it to see.

I walked into a room where Connor presumably killed himself in the fire or became a demon. I believe it was the former, but the event triggers way too early in my opinion. There wasn't much lead up and I walk into the room to just barely hear him say something about a demon and POOF.

I had that problem too. I said to myself, "Where the f--- is Connor?"
Bloody bugs.

I don't know if this is a bug. If you head straight there, you can totally see it. It's just that if you're looking around AT ALL as you go down the hallway, you'll be a little late on it. The event triggers early, and by the time you get in there, it's hard to see much more than him on fire.
Here's my issue with the writing of this event - I got that once when I hadn't MET Connor in Redcliffe or heard of him to my knowledge (my first playthrough - didn't know there were docks before that part or that he was there) and I was wondering how the Quizzie knew who Connor was. My PC at the time was a noble from Ostwick (rogue) so maybe she knew of Connor, as a nobleman's son (but seems doubtful since so far away, and he's a mage out of inheritance, etc, etc) but it definitely seemed off to me.

Dear god, the game is a huge bugfest.
I have to admit though, I'm glad that my biggest complaint with Inquisition is its bugs. Way better I feel that way than feel how I did about DA2 again.

I had the same problem. I heard "Connor! No!" and it took me several times reloading a save to figure out what I maybe was supposed to be seeing.

Does anyone have a video of that event happening as intended? I've still yet to see what happened to Connor in that sequence.

Yeah I think this is what happened. What I saw when I entered was something like the spirits you see in old crestwood before you deal with things. But it was more faint and I had no idea it was connor except for the scream.
Now what is more curious to me is that I remember the cards if you help him live. I think it was circle or to study with tevinter mages. And both implied he was happy or okay with it as if forward in time enough that this present should not be. I can understand if his mother died (which I let happen rather often as she was a shrew) that he might feel as he did about magic and himself. But apparently, the only good outcome is to let him die based on me trying both with his mother dead and alive unless it didn't import right. This makes the cards at the end seem like a lie. You aim for a certain ending, for him to live and be okay and it seems killing him would have been best.

He's standing around at the docks in Proper Time Redcliffe (at least he is before you do Hushed Whispers), so it's possible to talk to him. He seemed mostly alright. A bit put out by current events, but most people are.
I don't have a way to record, but if you've ever tried to spare Ketojan in DA2...that's what happens to Connor.

Yeah I've had that, can't tell if it's a bug or not but I HAVE had the invisible NPCs thing. Worst was with Hawke outside the war table. He's supposed to talk with Varric but I only had Varric appear and no Hawke or even subtitles for what he said. Reloading a bunch of times didn't help.

so its impossible to save him then? its "scripted" cuz I can't see him or anything either.

It might have been a poor choice to let the event trigger so early, but I do enjoy the effort that BioWare has put into the ambient reactions and player choice in those situations. For example, when party members are close to death and/or die. You'll hear someone yell, "Solas needs help!" or (when they die) "CASSANDRA!!!"
It really helps each battle have a certain weight that the previous games lacked.
And to the OP: I think the outcome depends on how you treated Connor's quest in DAO. He still dies, but the manner in which he dies is what changes, I think.

I just hate that that's even a response. I mean, it just doesn't make sense. Why would the Inquisitor react that way. S/he's met Connor 1 time. I think it may even trigger if you didn't speak with him, too. It's just ridiculous.

Death is death. It may not make sense to you, but there are a lot of really empathetic people out there that care. Besides, it was also a nice slice of fan service. We knew Connor for our small amount of time.

It has nothing to do with empathy. That particular wording is the reaction you have if something horrible happens to someone close to you. Not someone you just met yesterday

Yeah I never found him at the docks so I just wound up opening a door in the Bad Future, someone disintegrated in front of the fire as soon as I opened it and Inky screamed "CONNOR NO".
Like wow, some fantastic eyesight right there.

I really do like the combat chatter, it makes it feel more urgent and alive when you hear the members and the inquisitor shouting to one another. Definitely one of the best parts.

Happened to me too, opened the door and heard the dialogue and response but nothing was there, no connor and no demon so made no sense at all to me at the time.

I actually saw what my Inquisitor was reacting to, but my question was "how the **** does she know who Connor is?"
