Yep.

The whole event is handled rather poorly as you can see, lol. It's an issue of it triggering too quickly, wonky camera placement and general disorientation. Would have been much better served as a cutscene of some sort.

Again, this just goes to show Bioware should stick to what they were (used to be) good at: cinematics.

Allocate resources better and use cinematics more frequently. I think they think cutscenes are not "engaging" enough, but they really are as long as we can interact in them with dialogue wheels every now and then. It's a tried and tested formula and the last 2 games have skimped too much on them (ME3 in the sense that it had too many non-cinematic convos)

I did the mage side in my first playthrough and never noticed this at all, I'll have to see if I can notice it on this run.

i heard the line, something might have flashed in the corner of my eye, had no idea what was going on, looked around the room for a few seconds, then ignored it and moved on

i also never even saw connor on the docks, what is the specific timeframe in which you have to go down there to meet him again?

I saw it the first time I played this quest, for a second I was confused what did happen and then the dialogue wheel shows up and I picked the "CONNOR !!" option and then Dorian talks about how courageous it was for him.

Maybe I'm the sort of person who looks for every details and go and back to every room if I had a doubt that I didn't explore them :P

And the fact that the entire dark future in Redcliffe castle reminded me a lot of Leoric's dungeons and torture chambers from Diablo III, I explored it with very attention :)
