After finishing the game on a human male rogue I can't shake the feeling that female elven mage inquisitors are in DA:I what the human nobles were in DA:O.

Like sure every race and class is totally valid but still I kind of got the feeling that fem elven mages would have a stronger connection to the story itself while going through it with my rogue.

Like I don't know if it's just my imagination but between the whole Solas business, the whole temple thing and I think one would have a way stronger stand on claiming the well as an elven mage...

Not that it matters had a blast anyway it was just a casual observation.

I think female elf [and if we want to go further, female elf mage] definitely seems to be the show stealer as far as content goes.

Yeah female elven inquisitor with a solas romance seems to get you the most out of the game's lore.

I think the female elf Inquisitor (+ Solas romance) ties into the plot really well. Now that I've done it, I almost can't imagine playing any other way. But in the end it's all about how you roleplay. I never felt that Cousland was the "best" Warden, for example, though evidently a lot of people felt that way.

Having played as both a Dalish and Human Noble Inquisistor, I still feel the Human fit best.  To each their own, I guess.

Honestly a Qunari Inquisitor feels like a better choice to me. All the other options just feel stale and predictable by comparison.

But that's kinda the point isn't it? Everyone will have their own version of what the ideal Inquisitor would be like.

Nah it not about best or anything rather just the background that ties in the most into the main plot. Because preferences and stuff.

I wouldn't trade my arcane warrior circle mage warden for anything still I can't deny that Cousland just ties in way stronger into the whole landsmeet thing which arguably had the largest consequences.

And that's kind of the feeling I got looking from my perspective despite not being and elven inquisitor asking myself "hey wouldn't I get special dialogue for event X  since this ties in so strongly with that background."

Like if anyone has the best chance of mastering the well I guess it's an actual elven mage instead of some human rogue :D.

Sure, the Cousland ties into the Landsmeet, while Aeducan ties into Orzammar, Mahariel ties into the Dalish, and the Circle mage ties into Kinloch Hold. Preferences, of course, determine how much the specific stories carry weight with each player.  It depends on whether or not you feel connected to the story, and whether the story beats matter to you with that main character. I never really cared about the Cousland arc or the "revenge" arc against Howe, and I haven't heard anything about the human Inquisitor that interests me in the slightest, while the narrative with my Surana standing as an elven mage hero of an entire nation, and championing mage autonomy, resonated quite a bit with me.

I thought that choice felt quite poignant as an elven Inquisitor, and the other story beats really made me feel quite connected to the Dalish backstory - helping Clan Lavellan and Wycome, proclaiming that you are representing the elves, helping the elves of Orlais, discovering secrets about elven history that are part of the premise of Dalish society: which is to uncover knowledge about Elvhenan that was lost after centuries of slavery.

I think you have to play female Elven mage at least once, imo, to get the kick out of the story. However, there is a reason why the Keep has multiple slots for save states - for multiple playthroughs. I mean there's no right answer on which combination is the right one.

For me the Cousland Warden fit the story as 'a whole' better, he knew the parties involed with Logahins rise to power alot more.

So it was more from a the big players invovled sort of thing. While with the others didn't have that. Not saying the story didn't fit with the other races its just that, the Cousland story had an extra fitting peice to the story.

And has the best romance. If you can handle tears ;)

I just started as a female dalish mage and plan on romancing Solas. My last play thru was an elf archer and I noticed it pays attention to your class, like for my archer it said she was a hunter, and as my mage it said she was the Keepers apprentice. Little things like that go a long way for me. Definitely lovin the elf story line ;)

That's what I think too. It's not necessarily the "correct" way to play (there is no right and wrong way to play, just what's right for you), but a female Dalish mage who romanced Solas feels like it's the most interwoven with the story.

Of course, it has the potential to be a truly amazing story depending on where the plot goes from here. I found it ended on a big "to be continued" note.

Well, 'canon' for DA isn't really what Bioware is saying did happen, or even should happen. It's just the default state of the world. The 'canon' Warden, for example, is a female Dalish elf who didn't romance anybody and made the ultimate sacrifice.

The story is so much more powerful to me as playing an elf. Considering you're a repressed race in Thedas, this adds much more emotion to the 'Dawn Will Come' scene. I think playing a non-human inquisitor in Inquisition has far more of an impact than it has in any of the other games, considering that the inquisitor is probably the most influential person since Andraste, this is especially powerful if the inquisitor is an elf or Qunari, given that they are either repressed or disliked. And then with the whole ending reveal, playing as an elf just really seems to fit. Add being a mage on top of that, with people believing that not only an elf, but a mage, could be the Maker's 'chosen one' (even if it may not actually be true), well it pretty much changes the entire world. I am not normally inclined to play other races, most often playing human, but Inquisition really changed my view on that, and now I don't feel as though I could play anything but.

Though, I should also mention that playing as a dwarf is revolutionary too, considering you are the first to have any type of magical power. It may not really affect Thedasian society, but is still ground-breaking, nevertheless.
