What is a typical load time on the PC version?

I am seeing between 30sec - 1 min for most of mine.

Seems waaaay too long.

Some users are experiencing 5 mins or longer on loads. 30 secs seems on the really small end.

Why are load times variable on the PC? What can you do to minimize them?

My shortest load time on my PC was 3 mins, 17 seconds.

Yes, I'm actually timing them now. Not like I have anything else I can do while staring at the "celtic" swirl.

My longest load time was 15 mins, 47 seconds.

This is absurd, Mass Effect on max settings runs perfectly smooth on my system and load times are usually under 5 seconds there. THIS is getting to the point that it's nearly unplayable.

Fortunately I have a nice system, so my longest load time was about 5 minutes...but still...5 freakin' minutes?

This is my one biggest complaint about the game. Everything else is awesome. But come on...loading times are just crazy ridiculous.

shortest load time, 2 seconds. Seriously, although I entered small store. BTW, NOT using a SSD.

Normal load times for me are around 15-20 seconds.

MikeCentral 123: load times differ because of different setups. Some hard drives are faster and some are slower.

I think there is a memory leak because when I first load up the game from scratch the transitions take less then 20 sec to load but if I play for over an hour the load times gradually increase up until it gets to around 3-5 mins to load. I noticed when it got to that point the game was using over 1.5GB of RAM. Definitely something worth looking into for sure!

It does seem to start sucking down memory (although I didn't notice long load times until something like 13 hours of on-going program operation; and "long" has been nothing over 45 seconds, which I find interesting since my system is a 3.2 GHz Hyperthreaded running OC'd to 4.9 GHz with 2 GB of RAM on XP Pro)... I'd be interested in seeing some of the system specs on comps having problems

Same here. Then theres the crashes.

I expected better from you, BioWare. I have come to expect this from EA however.

Looks like a memory leak somewhere to me.

I experienced loading times to get slower and slower for me, during a game session. Starting at about 10 seconds and after 1-2 hours playing going to somewhere over 1 minute, even for small areas.

And although I got 3 GB RAM it soon grows my pagefile to some 2 GB.

Restarting the game seems to help, but is, of course, an unneccesary hassle.

either a memory leak, or a redundancy error in the coding, so the loading ends up going in loops, rather than being fast.

and yes i experienced this issue as well, it happens after extended play, a 5 second loading time dungeon ended up taking half a minute eventually due to this glitch, i imagine it is in only certain areas that have not been tested thoroughly . I hope they fix this issue.

From what I've been reading about this issue, it seems to effect similar types of systems.

Mostly slightly (a year or more) AMD cpus.

I have a Phenom X4 9600 (2.3ghz quad core).

AMD's have the memory controler on the chip, not the mother board.

I'm assuming that these slightly older CPUs might have a small memory controler issue with the game.

With a fresh reboot I get 10-15 second loading times. After about 90 min to 2 hours. They are over 1 min and if I push it to 3 hours, 4-8 min load time.

Reboot and she's back to normal.

I'm just not a fan of having to reboot every 90 min.

Hopefully a patch or even a file to edit isn't too far off.

Long load times are an issue, probably a memory leak, Bioware have stated they will look into it.

If your getting between 30 seconds to a minute then consider yourself lucky!

I played the game for bout 15 hours straight when I got it. The load times were long ranging from 8 seconds for nearly a minute for larger areas but I never experienced a memory drain. Wish there was a way to put the CD onto my hard drive. (Via the installer)

Yeah, I have gone out for a smoke break while it was loading, come back and its still loading.

I have an AMD qud core, 2.2ghz, ATI 3870 512megs, 6gigs of memory, running Windows 7 64 bit.

Windows 7 was a fresh reload when it came out.

Updated Video Drivers.

Defrag drive... no love.

I'm trying ultimate defrag to move the game, bioware folder in mydocuments and the windows folder to the outer track of the hardrive to get better seek/load time. But if theres a memory or resource glitch ingame I doubt it will help as time goes without having to restart ocassionally, except reduce stuttering as it loads stuff when you run and look around etc in areas already loaded.

Tried playing some before I started defragging and the load time wasn't bad and the game went smoothly with highest detail setting, and high textures. Ok I was only in the Fade with my mage and the areas were smallish, will see how it runs later if I have to reduce details.

Noticed same problem as above.

I have an AMD quad processor Phenom at 2.2 with 3 Gig of ram.

After the critical 2hrs or so the 10-20 second loads become close to 5 and yes, as bad as 8min.

Noticed with my processor and memory loggers that when "loading" there is little drive use and only 1 processor starts going like crazy and the other 3 do not kick-in until the music starts and the level is loaded.

I am leaning toward less a memory leak and more some loop it gets stuck in until something times out since just look at your drive use, nothing going on. The leak is another symptom but I think it is something in particular with processor allocation during loading.

See if anyone else notices.

Thanks!

Loadtimes takes for me about 5-10 seconds...

Running on Vista 64.

I never get to read the text on load screens, wish it could load a little slower.

my game actually stops responding for a while, then I have to wait till it decides to work, probably why my load times are so long..

This thread seems to indicate the problem is background programs, as usual...
