I get told that a lot more than I would like.
Seriously though my favorite soundtracks this year are definitely Ar nosurge and Persona Q it's too bad they probably won't win any awards.

And yes, Persona Q carries an excellent soundtrack, with gorgeous and awesome tracks, as can be expected from Meguro. Might actually get the 3DS for the game after all.

2014 was exceptionally terrible so not at all surprised that DAI got GOTY for this year since there were really few strong competitors. At least 2015 can't possibly be as weak as 2014..

I don't expect 2015 to be any better. Or 2016. Or 2017. The well of creativity in this industry is bone dry.
Maybe another video game crash is warranted.

Possibly, but I do care about more than 3 titles that's released in 2015. That alone beat 2014 quite soundly

The only games I've played and enjoyed this year that aren't ports, remasters, or less recent games I simply hadn't played yet are TWD Season 2, Game of Thrones, and Five Nights at Freddy's. The first two are made by a "smaller" developer (not really) and the other was developed by a single person. I have The Wolf Among Us also made by Telltale but I haven't gotten around to playing it just yet.
In truth I haven't really even looked at what's coming up next year. I know they're porting the Resident Evil remake to Steam in January but that's about it. And of course there will be more episodes of Game of Thrones. Other than that...

Although, to be fair, I didn't get around to playing Bayonetta 2 (which I still need to get) or Smash Bros, I feel I need to get some games for the Wii-U because it did have a few I want, then I need to finish the Wind Waker remaster, possibly get Xenoblade yadayadayadayada-ya
The Remake is the best Resident Evil -- Can't wait to complete everything all over again on all the difficulties. Gonna see how many of the puzzles, door ways and zombie spawn locations I remember.

Damn right. I haven't played it in years so it will be a fresh experience. I'm also gonna pick up RE4 and 5 when the winter sale hits. Hopefully they'll get around to remastering RE0 as well.

Oh right, I forgot about Kingdom Come. I'll have to keep an eye on that one. I liked the gameplay they showed.

Yes, Zero was pretty good actually. The AI partner wasn't quite as thick as pigshit like in RE5, where she'd consume all your healingitems if you even dared to give it to her, or if you were even the slightest bit of hurt she'd use a First Aid Spray instead of just one herb.Damn right. I hope Capcom does a better job of remastering the Remake than they did with RE4 -- That one was incredibly weak, they basically just ported the Gamecube version and the sub scenario with Ada from the PS2 version and you can easily spot the laziness in the resolution, when playing the sub-scenario. It implies they didn't really do anything with it at all, not even applying the slightest bit of polish. I hope it's different with this game.

Yeah I always thought it was lame that they didn't implement the same partner system for RE5 that they did with RE0. I thought that was an interesting twist on the RE formula and they should have stuck with it for more than just one game.
Do you at least get the slick Italian suit for Leon and knight armor for Ashley in the PC remaster of RE4? I always missed those since I only got to play the PS2 version of it once and mostly played it on GC.

I don't remember. Will check that out, the next time I'm on the Xbox, since I bought it for that at the time, along with the Code Veronica remake. I didn't mind that one too much but there's only so much you can do with a game that was originally for the Dreamcast, anyway.Yeah I always thought it was lame that they didn't implement the same partner system for RE5 that they did with RE0. I'm pretty sure you get the alternate costumes, come to think of it.
EDIT: I heard the PC re-release has some serious framerate issues, and technical difficulties, that make the game play incredibly slow and unresponsive, along with the visuals.

I haven't played CV in a long time. I don't remember it being as good as RE2 and RE3 were, and I think the only unlockable weapon was just an infinite ammo rocket launcher. Which is BOOOORING.
Still better than RE6 anyway. I tried so hard to like that game and even defended it but in the end it was just a total dud. Capcom just ain't got it anymore.

Hmm I see. I looked at some reviews online and they confirm this. Oh well, there's always PCSX2.

Lol at thinking a JRPG would get nominated for anything. This is the VGA's it's practically just time for the big publishers to pat themselves on the back with the occasional indie off on the side.
It would of been crazy for something like Bravely Default to win big, for sure.
Honestly though I was just thinking about this whole "Video Game Awards" and how bizzare it all is. First of all, it seems like it's just copying Oscars type things. Why not make have like a twitch does ceremony, or what if all the best developers like Miyamoto and whoever all design a single level or hallway in something you download to play and discover the awards for yourself, wouldn't that be funny and different? LIke, I don't know, video games are relative to movies and stuff?
Or maybe just a super smash tournament with a bunch of famous video game people or something.. I don't know... just anything, that kind of reflects the change in medium. it's kind of like at the end of New Super Mario Bros. and you can smash all the names in the credits if you want.
Or what about like a world wide smash game? Have like Dragon Age and Mass Effect characters next to Snake, Sonic, and Pikmin. It seems like there are a lot better ways to celebrate the global reach of video games than a stuffy awards ceremony. The western obsession with stacking things up against each other is undying and ever-present.
Adding insult or injury it's kinda just reflecting all the big agreed upon movies and games like Blizzard etc. Middle Earth. Assassin's Creed. Which means you can probably know way in advance what the winners and losers will be for the most part.
I already did my spiel on eastern vs. western games, so I'll just note that there also appears a kind of distinctly western tilt here in the nominations.
This kind of metastasizing and idolization of many games in a kind of video game canon, with accompanying kind of factionalization, has already been going on so it doesn't really surprise me. Gamers used to be all kind of one category (in my mind, anyway), and now there's a bunch of branching off that are just kind of melding with Hollywood to create a similarly vertically integrated type of industry, and who are mostly set on the games and things that they like for the most part.
I mean really, you could argue most of those sequels were the worst in their respective series.
Or maybe at least just have a giant Pikachu bounding down on the stage, something, anything, to relieve such a trite idea as an awards ceremony.

I couldn't find any of Mcintosh tweets about TB? Links?
Also I could tell that that King's Quest guy immediately felt bad about taking off that hat, the booing definitely knocked his nerves. It was a douche move though.

So anyone care to give a quick summary of the trailers and game reveals shown this year? Did not watch the show.
Also Nintendo as developer of the year? What did they actually release this year that was worthy of the award? Games for Change? What the hell does that even mean?
As for game of the year while I know this year was the year of the duds in the Video Gaming industry with one of the worst lineups in recent years Inquisition winning Game of the Year still feels undeserved, would have liked to have seen Divinity take it's place as RPG of the year at the very least but unfortunately I doubt it was popular enough among the masses to even be considered.

Divinity has a lot of problems notwithstanding the love it gets from people that liked the old school control scheme and style.
The more you're a fan of a game like IWD the more you'll like it, but like Wasteland 2 it's really a niche project.

I liked this year more than last year.
A big thing they need to remember (and thankfully somewhat DID remember this year) is that games are for fun. Even the most serious games have to be enjoyable for the players to willingly participate. They're extension of reality, and almost always there to put us somewhere (whether its a story based game or not) that isn't just a reminder of the bad parts of life. Games are positive reinforcement.
Unlike the narrative I've gotten from the Internet gaming media lately, this award show seemed to want to inspire that feeling. Yeah, its for corporate dollars. We know that. But what irks gamers is the sellout feeling; we're mostly fine with big money being big money in itself.
Geoff was still Geoff, but this time he looked like a Geoff that actually learned from PR lessons for bloody once. The whole show still had an awkward air, but FINALLY you see enough people relaxing and just enjoying the industry they're a part of, instead of dwelling on crap.

Divinity is definitely a better Rpg than inquisition. By better I am talking about it has more options for influencing character interaction with the world. So anyone care to give a quick summary of the trailers and game reveals shown this year? Did not watch the show.

Dragon age usually uses dialogue to influence the way the character interacts with the world. This usually means they are two ways to solve a problem, fight it or talk to it. They are other things like "collect these items to solve this problem" but that will also include fighting along the way.
This is mostly due to the cinematic nature of the game, you have to click on an actor then initiate the conversation. The actor in this case is typically shielded from the rest of the interaction. You can't burn him, heal from him or use any of the abilities are good at on him.
One has to ask if it has something to do with the way flags fire, are they initiated after a conversation for easier placement? "
Crpgs do not really have the cinematic approach problem because no cinematic angles need to be shown and the actor is just like any other character of the world but just with dialogue options. That my friend is reactivity.
Another thing is why is it that my abilities in skill trees can only be used in combat, that to me is shallow. My dialogue options rarely even solve problems if they mention my abilities. No advantage or anything cause the person without my abilities can get the same ****** response.
The amount of things I can do with high computer science literacy in wasteland is amazing. Which I'd another point, environmental reactivity in bioware games. Falls extremely flat. New inquisition has falling structures but for the most part these are just bells and whistles for a more aesthetic add on.
I did like I inquisition but I hell do not think it deserves Rpg of the year. The bioware format is basically an mmorpg format in this case which it is expected because when one of your resources spreads you thin(voice cinematics) you can only do so much
