So, after playing close to fifteen hours of Dragon Age: Inquisition, I can safely say that I don't like it. Frankly, I'm sick and tired of the way these games are being made. When I play Inquisition, I think of the game being put together on an assembly line and at the end of that line, is a man or woman going down a list of every AAA feature that must be in the game. Just make it grand and epic because that's what Skyrim was and it sold a **** load of copies. We have to do that so our game sells a **** load of copies!
This game is essentially, a combination of Assassin's Creed and Skyrim, and there lies the problem. Developers should not copy another game just because it sold more units. This lead to Inquisition feeling like a cheap Skyrim wannabe to me. The world design is so uninteresting. It only adds support to my preconception that Bioware doesn't know the first thing about making open world games or making levels of this magnitude remain interesting without resorting to using cheap filler content, à la, Assassin's Creed, as an incentive to explore.
It doesn't matter if the game is beautiful to look at. It feels and looks artificial. There's no heart or soul in any part of Thedas I ever visited in my time with this game.
I could go into the characters and combat being utterly boring and how I feel Bioware has lost their touch, but I think I've made my point. I won't be buying anymore Bioware games while the company is still with EA. I feel that since EA acquired the company, the quality of Bioware's games has been on the decline. It's a shame since I've been a fan for many years, but I'm also doing the same thing with Ubisoft. Their games have also been on the decline in recent years. Although I did pick up South Park today and have been enjoying it immensely. But that was made by Obsidian.
What say you?
