I don't get the constant Skyrim comparison.

Skyrim is an open world game with bland and uninteresting NPCs that gives you lots of exploration and the freedom to play your character as you want in a world that wont acknowledge many of your choices.

Inquisition is an open world game with NPCs that don't all share the same 15 lines where you mainly have to play as variations on BioWare's Inquisitor character that will acknowledge your major plot choices at the end of the game.

Other than the open world, they aren't all that much alike.

It's because of the Hinterlands. If it started in the Western Approaches, trolls would be calling it a RDR rip-off.

You will often run many minutes without seeing content in any Bethesda game. That's very boring. In DAI, the content is so tightly packed into the zones that even when I explore the absolute most obscure place I find content. Be it a treasure chest, some rarity or even a small untold story from a journal I find. I also enjoy adventuring more in DAI because I'm livened up by such rich personalities following me. It's simply awesome to listen to banter between Varric, Solas and IB as I move about zones. That's another thing DAI does so well. It's probably the first open game I've played that has amazing characters. That in itself separates it from any other sandbox/open RPG out there because I've never played one where I found the characters/story awesome. It's always a sacrifice in those games but is actually a focus in DAI.

... Bethesda games suffer from samesy in almost everything you do. It's a very repetitive style because their games have so much content they use the same assets over and over. Even the dragon encounters were the same in Skyrim. All the dungeon layouts were basically the same.

Bethesda can learn from a philosophy where they stop putting endless and pointless content in their games. They could cut 50% of their content out and nobody would care. They could tightly knit the world's content and make it all more relevant not to mention a more polished game. Bethesda's philosophy just seems to be let's give you as much as content as possible without focusing on polishing it just because. The end result is a samesy experience everywhere you go...

1st... You need to play at least 30-50 hours of DAI before you get a real feel for it.

2nd... yes its not like DAO and its not supposed to be

3rd... The game is bit buggy but I knew it would be so it doesn't bother me

4th.. The writing is sub-par compared to DAO and DA2

But overall it is a fantastic game. The thing about DAI is you have to play it a 2-3 times just to get an inkling of how good it really is. I am on my forth run through now and STILL discovering new things and am AMAZED what a HUGE effect making a few different choices makes even playing the same character. Also changing races makes the game seem like a completely different game.

You also need to understand you don't need to do everything in the game. The game is designed to give lots of variety so that you are not stuck to once course of action. if you don't like fetch quests, don't do them! If you don't like crafting, don't do it! The game is so flexible you make of it what you will.

I have one 80 hour run through and one 130+. BUT I finished the same level on both games. The games is designed to give you more to do than just "plot". Its designed so that you can play almost as long as you like or as short as you like and still accomplish pretty much the same things.

Don't get me wrong I have a few major gripes about the game but they are story/writing issues. But as far as playing the game...it's just bloody brilliant no two ways about. The thing is you got to get to Skyhold before it really takes off. Once you are there it is so much fun. My goodness and the High Dragon battles...EPIC!  I mean SUPER EPIC!

Here watch this, its a very fair review.

I thought New Vegas's companions were somewhat of a mixed bag, personally; I've never really understood the appeal of Boone or Veronica. Cass was the best though.

And I would murder a puppy for an Alpha Protocol sequel (or spiritual successor or what have you). I think I've played the original around 8 or so times.

Yeah, Cass was the best. I liked Raul, Veronica, and Arcade as well. I wasn't really a fan of Boone either, but there is also a few Bioware character that I don't particularity like so that's why I included him anyway.

Muh n-words.

Oh, I can explain the point of Boone!

You combine him with Eddie, and then you take out your sniper rifle, and then everything dies from over 2 miles away!

Bioware is not in decline. It only has 4 good games, that is baldursgate 2(with expansion) and mass efects.
