What makes yours? If I can't complain then why should you be able to praise?

Just gonna point out that defending something (against illogical and irrational arguments) does not equate praising it.

You think I would care if you said you hated the game or some aspects of it? That's your opinion whatever.

But if you start saying that the game sucks (objective statement) or that the developers are lazy (hilarious hyperbole) without anything other than wild conjecture to prove it, I'm going to call you out.

This is a usefull feedback:

His review (aka feedback) included the bad and good.

This is not:

I have to be honest,  I did like my feedback more.

1.) That is not how that works. A bug is not minor because it is rare. There are common minor bugs and major rare bugs. The two are not connected. If 1% of the players experiences a crash, and 99% experience some minor visual hiccup at some specific spot in the game, the bug that 1% of the players experience is still a major bug.

That's utter nonsense. A major bug is a bug that interrupts play for the largest portion of players. If 1% of players find that the game won't even start for them, but 10% find that a critical-path cutscene is not running correctly and players can't get past it, then the 10% is the major bug in that scenario.

And all of that aside, you don't have any statistics to back up the assertion that even 1% of players are having the issues you describe. Even these forums are too small a sample to be statistically significant. I expect Bioware has some idea of what the actual number is.

Sure, let me whip out my survey equipment and ask every player of this game if, when, how, and why their game is crashing.

All I know is even a quick glance at the Tech Support forum shows that crashes and freezes of varying sorts are pretty common.

Well, duh! Do you create topics there to say: "Everything fine here, good work"

It's obvious that it is common to place there complaints/problems.

I have a thread in there that i used to detail some issues i was experiencing, here i mostly discuss the game. I'd wager most people in tech support actually enjoy the game and just wanted to bring their issue to the teams attention as well. There's no evidence to suggest that people posting in tech support hate the game.

Not taking anything away from them but looking at the competition, it's obvious DAI would win.

But who is to judge which of what?  Do Bioware need yet another brown noser, or do they need to be told where some of us think they went very wrong?  Do they need more flowers stored in their attic, or a kick up the jacksy?

In  a congratulatory thread a kick up the jacksy i'm inclined to file as useless and rude.  It's not like there are not plenty of threads for the criticism to be shared.

To explain the position of people who have issues that make the game unplayable with relation to game accolades. (At least my position.)

I love the series, have played the games, read the books etc, even made a standalone module for Origins, you name it.

I'm playing DA:I on nightmare and really enjoying the challenge.

But, I've given up playing Inquisition for now (at level 7) because of really hard crashes and really long lag during cutscenes.

Is this my personal game of the year? Can't see how it could be.

Do I really, really want to play it, based on my engagement with the series and the fact that other people seem to think it is GOTY? Absolutely. But, crashes and lag.

I'm happy for designers that the game is getting recognition. It's a great series, well told story etc. I hope there are more games in the future.

But it still leaves me in the odd position of being the outsider who wants to play it. Other PC players I know, two of whom are harder core modders than me and various other devs and such are in the same position as me. It's an odd one.

But. Sounds like a great game. :P

I absolutely sympathize with you and those in the same position. It's incredibly frustrating and I hope the issues get resolved promptly, and you can dive in and enjoy the game as much as I am.

!! Thanks. That's a really nice reply.

(I've been looking forward to the game for ages. It'll happen eventually, I'm sure.)

From what I understand this was the successor. It's no longer on TV.

I'm happy for them. I have some issues with the game, but enjoyed it overall. It seems they worked hard on it. I'm glad they're getting recognition for it.

Successor, made by the same guy.  I believe these are trying to be the video game Oscars/Emmys: chosen by a select, professional panel and with a fancy trophy.

Game Awards will probably end up being the main awards show.  BAFTAs and CESA are too regional, GDC lacks mainstream appeal and Golden Joysticks are a popularity contest.

Either way, DAI won the very first one.  Good job devs!

*snip*

Did you check out the various fixes offered on this forum?

On my end, I had cutscene lag before doing the "Mouse Smoother" fix and playing around with the driver settings on the NVIDIA Control Panel fixed my infrequent yet irritating crashes.

Sorry you having issues though.  Hope the patch resolves any outstanding problems you have.

Have tried lots of stuff. I may now have spent more time trying to get it running than actually playing. Haven't heard of Mouse Smoother. Shall find.

Idk what happened. It was passably stable after trying most of the fixes on the forum, apart from a hilarious imaginary ladder climbing bug, but suddenly the stuttering got super bad again and - as of tonight - I can't even boot the game up.

I'll bow out of the GOTY thread, because "hooray BioWare" is a good thing. I am a very long term supporter.

But - like I said. Fervently wanting to play a game that people think is GOTY material, but can't due to other issues, is a really weird position to be in. It's given me perspective on how important this is to the consumer. (After reviewing games for many years myself and not necessarily paying this due attention.)

Forum: a place, meeting, or medium where ideas and views on a particular issue can be exchanged.

Cult: a misplaced or excessive admiration for a particular person or thing.

but to hate something so much to come to it's door step every other day to tell them that?

So mmo filler quests thrown in a singleplayer game with tacked on multiplayer with micro-transactions wins goty? Speaks volumes of this industry and just how easily game "journalists" are bought and paid for. Congrats Bioware, next time actually earn it.

1. DA was always like that and that mostly optional.Really, dao is like an off line mmo.

2.ME3 had that type of mp and you did not have to pay.
