Serious question, because I never follow this stuff, but are the "Game Awards" supposed to be a big deal?

Like the VGAs, but more professional and definitely a better understanding of gamers.  This year was actually watchable and the way GOTY worked lends it more credibility.  I was impressed, because usually I only watch for the reveals but the nominees were mostly decent choices and the musical performances were on the spot: that DA violin segment was probably the best thing on the show it was so damn good.  ANd they had some good reveals and DAI won the GOTY.

Congrats Bioware! Now give us a modding tool!  I will wait until this game is patched than I will pick it up down the road.  I'm 14hrs in replaying Mass Effect 2 right now.

I am ridiculously happy and pleased they both won Best RPG and Game of the Year.

It feels like I won, almost.

Congratulations to the development team- you've deserved it.

One man's mess is another man's 20 million copy best-seller?

Both great games. DAI was heavily influenced by Skyrim. Even the new footage of the next Zelda game is heavily influenced by Skyrim. It's clearly a game changer.

Congratulations to BioWare Edmonton on their hard work. Four years of hard work and effort to put Dragon Age back on the path it deserves. I raise my glass to you! Cheers.

By mess I'm talking about the bugs not that its a bad game. I have ran into so many game breaking bugs in skyrim these bugs in da:I are nothing.

I love how Cullen is all like, "Laaaaaaadies," as he casually strolls through the frame in the nomination clip

easily the best AAA RPG this year.. but game of the year?  what about shadow of mordor or divinity original sin?  imo, both games rank higher.

DAI is great, but I still can't take anything serious with the Dorito Pope involved.

Just my opinion but...

Mordor got dull quick and relied heavily on borrowed mechanics, it played like an Assassins Creed game. It was fun at first but i can see how anyone but a LOTR fan would a bit 'meh' about it. I loved the ability tree's though big strong point. But it takes more than that and some impressive kill animations to really hook me in.

The fans did win. This just means we have a very good chance of receiving an equally, if not better crafted RPG for our next DA entry.

The sales have to be right, too, for that. Last I heard, they weren't impressive. No disaster, but not really good either. Hopefully this award will give it a boost.

I agree though, the fans did win. Most of us, anyway.

Can't say if it is well deserved yet as i didn't finish my first playthrough, but i really love the game. One of the best Bioware experience since Baldur's Gate 2 in my book.

Sure the game is not perfect and some things need to be fixed asap or added (hair style ?); but as it is, the vanilla version is a very fine product and i can't wait to see DLC expend the potential of the game.

Very well done Bioware, especialy after DA2. I hope EA is now convinced that letting more time to the devs result in a vast improvement from the community and players opinion toward the game and the company.

Keep up the good work, and thanks again for this game.

Indeed. Mordor is a fun game with a neat system, but it has little depth and is basically just a hack and slash. Divinity is super impressive for an Indie game, but the writing is a bit iffy. Basically it's carried by the tactical combat system, which is by far the best part.

Great news! I feel so validated now that I always believed this game was going to be beyond amazing. And my friends all thought I was crazy...

My personal GotY for this year is Alien: Isolation. But we also did not get a "flawless masterpiece" this year, even the best entries had some annoying niggles or too many bugs on release. Anyway, good on Bioware. Keep working even harder and hopefully any expansion you release also patches up some of the weaknesses that remain in this game.

As far as I'm aware we don't have any reliable sources for sales at the moment, so it's too early to say. But I sincerely doubt they'll be ending the series. Sales seems to be more of a motivating factor for DLC rather than successive titles. But even then, DA2 received 2 pretty good story based DLCs and I'm certain this game sold better than that.
