Only shows that the competition was fairly weak this year. TBH, South Park Stick of Truth was a better game if you are into the TV Show, but obviously it lacked the hype that DA:I posesses.

SPSOT was good for fans of the show, but I wouldn't recommend it to who isn't.

DA:I is a major accomplishment when it comes to art design, world building, lore, voice acting, dialogue quality and scope of its universe. However it is a flawed game, its combat mechanics regressed from first two games, encounter design is weak, UI management is a chore and finally tactical camera is pretty much a joke.

It is my favorite game of the year, but we are huge Dragon Age fans here. I don't think it should win any GOTY awards because it implies Bioware did a near perfect job, while there's a lot of stuff they need to improve either through patches or DLC.

Judges looking at the site for the award.

Anyway Golden joystick where it is voted has more weight than this 'game of the year 2014' where it can be bribed.

you mean that thing where ubisoft was studio of the year? :D oh and battlefield 4 won, and for this is the same grade of hate in the forums as for da:i

Tell me the last year where EA won VGA

The last time an EA game won Game of the Year at the VGAs was 2003, for Madden NFL 2004.

VGA, its judges that have been bribed by EA to win the awards to boost sales before Xmas.

If there's some kind of judge-bribing conspiracy going on, it's been working very poorly up until now. Why didn't they bribe the judges last year, or the year before that, or the year before that?

Congratulations! I have yet to finish the game even after 70 hours of playing (150 hours if you count the time in the character creator), but so far, so good.. mostly.

Thank you for articulating what I was feeling; DAI has great world design, characters, and story, but the actual gameplay feels decidedly lacking. It's a very good game, in terms of the overall package, but I just don't feel that it's outstanding enough to deserve to be GotY just on its own merits. Then again looking at what it was up against, I can't honestly say that any of them were better than DAI. Perhaps Inquisition was simply the best game of a less than stellar year in gaming?

The bribe comments... this is really the internet at its worst. Simply because it's a great example of 'I'll say what I want without any kind of thought if it's right or not'.

Anyway, congratulations to Bioware for their great work and to EA (really!) which seems to have given Bioware what they need, especially time. I hope the next Mass Effect have a similar development process.

I'm about 90+ hours into the game, I did have the party banter/music bug but clearing out my journal/codex seems to have solved it for me.

So far I've been absolutely blown away by the effort that has gone into this game. When going to a new area I always find it rewarding to go explore in a completely new different direction. For example, yesterday I arrived in Crestwood. I won't spoil it, but whoever designed that level deserves a pat on the back - the atmosphere was amazing, and running around exploring and solving the quests in the area was incredibly rewarding to me. Like when you go into a nondescript cave for no reason at all. There's no quest marker in there, it literally has no purpose. Then you notice how the walls are covered in elven wall paintings. I had to stop exploring for a couple of minutes so I could look at them, and I was baffled. "Why? Why would they put in so much effort into something that's so easy to miss? I almost passed by this cave and I would have been none the wiser."

Even though it's not perfect I've had so much fun playing this game, and I'm not even finished yet. I don't think it's perfect, but it's pretty damn great and deserves the Game of the Year award.

100% this.

It ASTOUNDS me that a game that a not insignificant portion of the people who purchased it CAN'T EVEN PLAY won any kind of award.

Any award show that does so is a farce. When one of the main bugs I ran into has only been shared, to my knowledge, with Big Rigs: Over the Road racing, you have royally screwed up as a game developer.

...but you are indeed relatively insignificant.

Most people don't have any gamebreaking bugs in their games. Almost all have gameplay bugs that are at most...annoying. No game is immune to this on release.

If you're taking this website as a measurement of how many people have problems, you should remember that this is where people go to complain to the developers. It's their forum.

Not that you are going to be ignored. They are working to provide you with the necessary repairs. No need to dramatize the issue.

I wonder how many of those people bothered to check the requirements...

Maybe, might be, could be working on fixing the more gamebreaking bugs (and one of the most common bugs people experience still makes the game freeze on the main menu). Or could just be working on the "annoying" ones. Of which there are a great deal.

Fact of the matter remains that the game has not been patched yet, so should be judged on its current state.

And in its current state, it is far from a Game of the Year.

But of course half of this forum is too busy working the shaft as hard as they can to recognize that.

OT I know, but the extent to which you seem to be invested in defending Bioware against any charge marks you out as someone not worth listening to.
