Andraste's dimpled buttcheeks, the other games this year must have been complete garbage.
This game was good, but GOTY? It doesn't really deserve it.

Good on them but to be honest, with the state the industry is right now and the amount of crap that was released this year it seems more like a consolation prize.

Now that they won Game of the year, can they do Patch of the year so we get a RPG, not that farce of Offline MMO grind fest.

Right, because you are basically Roger Ebert of gaming, and your opinion is the most important, and the deciding factor of how good games are, and that games are created specifically for you ![]()
Blasphemy!!! How dare they disappoint the draining dragon ![]()

Congratulations to Bioware. I'm sure the recognition of a GOTY award is awesome.
But 2014 was the drivelling shits in terms of Triple A releases. So many over hyped, garbage games.
DA:I won by not totally sucking balls ![]()
It probably is the best game I played this year that was released in 2014 Even though it did nothing spectacular IMO & large parts of it really grind my gears and ****** me off.
Disappointed by Triple A games this year, but that's just me. A cynical ****** who is impossible to please. ![]()

Nomination was deserved. The actual award?
For a design crime grinder with hideous controls and horrible inventory?
Not.
Did those people at GA play anything else this year? Or past 10 years?
Next year: GA GOTY goes to Farmville 2. Grind, grind, grind, all day long.
Still. Congratulations EA.

Actually critics do kinda disagree. Both Super Smash Bros 4 and Bayonetta 2 were both rated higher on Gamerankings and Metacritic than DA:I.

Who cares?
They are good game in their little niche but putting them against more complex title as DA:I or dark soul 2 (a game i personaly despise for the fame it get, and i think is based only on a clever brainwash of the gaming comunity) they pale.

Didn't have a whole lot of competition though. There were some good more niche titles, but nothing that quite approached it. On the whole DAI is a solid quality game, and it distinguishes itself from a lot of AAA game releases this year by actually differing substantially from its predecessor.

Oh wow, where to begin with this. I guess I'll just start with the obvious and work my way from there.
First of all Super Smash Bros is not a niche title. It's one of the most popular fighting game series out there, and has a gigantic following. I know a lot of people who don't like video games, that play Super Smash Bros. It is a well crafted and widely accessible game franchise.
Secondly, when did how niche or complex the game is, become a factor on whether or not it should win GOTY? Tell that to Walking Dead Season 1. A good game, is a game that accomplishes what it set out to do, and does it with flying colors. That's it. How complicated it is has nothing to do with it.
Furthermore RPGs are a niche genre, especially the Dark Souls series. So it makes no sense that you're accusing Bayonetta 2 and SSB of this.
