Ah yes....the first time I explored the Storm Coast, I repeatedly stopped just to admire the scenery for a few minutes. It's really very impressive. All the maps are beautiful, but the Storm Coast stands out as being exceptionally alive. The Emerald Graves and the Storm Coast may be my favorite maps.

I know how it feels. It's a great example of the accurately recreated old area.

Some might not even remember the DAA sidequest about gathering the ship cargo,  but I do. I loved that stormy coast ever since, and I'm glad I had a chance to have more of it. The ocean is absolutely stunning!

I love watching the swell of the sea coming then crashing on shore...I was amazed as I never expected to see a  rolling sea...also in other parts of the game , how the trees and plants sway in a breeze. Super :D

While walking through the rainy areas I continually feel like my character is thinking, "This is really effing miserable." That said, I think they're gorgeous and provide great atmosphere. I also really like how wet everything looks. Shiny skin, hair, armor, rocks, plants; water lines pouring down buildings. It's just great.

I do love that reagion.

In general, I think the weather in this game is really well done.  I could swear I "feel" the wetness coming down in the rain, or the cold when my quizzy's running around Skyhold in only her payamas at the top of the world...

It's one of my favorite areas for just taking screenshots.

It made me feel cold and uncomfortable... which I found fantastic because it was pretty immersive. Saving it for later also.

Storm Coast is beautifully rendered, even on lower graphics settings.  Once I turned up meshes to get rid of the shiny hair effect, the glistening effect from the rain and spray was incredible.

However, I found the ocean animation to be unsettling.  The animation of the waves swelling up and down is incredible, but the water line on the beach does not advance and retreat the way real waves do; instead, the waves bounce up and down attached to a fixed shoreline!  I don't notice it from far away, but standing on th beach it's a bit disorienting...

Walk up to one of the trees and jump at it, It starts swing around wildly like one of those Wacky Inflatable Arm Flailing Tube Men. When I first bumped into one of the trees, I couldn't stop laughing. I know they have to make them exaggerated, but it was way over done.

It does make the game look really great, though, with everything moving like that.

The Emerald Graves remains my favorite region aesthetically, but the Storm Coast is at least top five.

Which may not sound like much, but I mean, seven or eight of the regions are stunning.

You'll make more than one pass-through of the Storm Coast -- so finish your business there, move on to other areas, and look forward to the next round of quests that bring you back.

I'll try that ;)
