Am I the only one that thinks that this game is lacking that one, clear "obvious choice" for Manquisitors?

In DA:O it was pretty easy for me, Leliana or Morrigan (I was always torn between them). Morrigan was hot and all goth-ey, Leliana was hot in that overly adorable kind of way. (Leliana also happens to be the ONLY Orlesian that I can stand to listen to ... at all ... let alone at length.)

In DA2, the 'go to' love interest for me was the pirate/rogue chick, whose name I forget, because DA2 kinda sucked, except for combat, so I only played through it once.

Then we arrive at Inquisition, and this is the situation, as it pertains to me:

Cassandra: Can't stand her accent, or her demeanor. She sounds like a man, she looks like a man ... just doesn't work. Good figher though.

Sera: Surprisingly, she would be my go to option, if for no other reason than that she is (in my opinion) the BEST rogue in the game ... and she's utterly hilarious at times... But she's a lesbian, so that's out :c

Vivienne: Not a romance option ... which is fine, because Orlesian.

Josephine: Nice girl, and the one I went with on my first playthrough, but still missing a feeling of connection, since she's an advisor, and not a playable character. No adventuring together, no frolicking through hordes of demons and red templars ... she just sits at her desk all day, and plays politician. Also, Orlesian.

Iron Bull: NOT doing a gay scene ... listening to Bull tell Dorian he's going to "conquer" him, is uncomfortable enough.

Dorian: Same as above.

Leliana / Morrigan: Neither one are available as romance options (SUPER sad face for that, since Leliana would've been my first choice ... especially considering how bad-ass she looks in her Inquisition gear)

I may have missed one or two. I know you can flirt with Scout Harding, but I never bothered to play with that to see where it goes.

All in all, DA:I has simultaneously created some of the best, and some of the worst playable characters I've seen in Dragon Age.

Bull is absolutely hilarious "So, the giant attacks us, because OF COURSE it does..." (laughed for 10 minutes, awesome voice acting) but going down the Reaver path with him just sucks.  It's the Glass Cannon paradox ... you can't DPS if you're dead, and Bull is so damned squishy when he goes reaver that my potion stocks tend to just evaporate. Haven't even attempted to go one-hander/shield with him, planning on trying that in my next playthrough.

Sera is a bit off her nut, but in a funny way. It's also pretty endearing the way she sticks up for the little guy. Also, she's probably the BEST rogue in the game (except for the whole "can't wear Elf-Trained armor, even though I'm an Elf" thing.).

Varric is classic, and as good as ever, as far as voice acting goes. Still don't like his character in combat though.

Cole: .... ugh, Cole. In all honesty, considering what he is, his voice actor did a superb job. But, his character is dull, boring as all hell ... and double-daggers are TERRIBLE in parties, unless you want to spend the same amount of time micromanaging JUST HIM, as you do the entire rest of your party. The only way I play rogues are at range.

Vivenne: ... Orlesians aggravate the holy ****** out of me.

Dorian: Can be funny at times, the rest of the time he can be a bit pompous. I kinda view him as the "Conduit to the punch line" since, in every piece of party banter he's a part of, whoever he's talking to tends to deliver the funnier parts of the conversation.

Blackwall: Good fighter, honorable and all that. Though my opinion of him severely changes after his inner circle mission.

Cassandra:  She and Cole are the only ones whose conversations I just speed my way through, because I just can't stand listening to her speak.

Solas: While not generally funny, and often predictable for an elven mage, I still kinda like Solas ... especially after the ending scene. Plus, mages are fabulous.

And yeah, that's about it. My main gripe is the romance options, or lack thereof.

Also, totally random side note: So, in DAO, Sten was Qunari ... and had no horns. Then in DA2 ... BAM! Qunaris have horns, and the story just goes on like that was always the case, and this massive change in the landscape of their faces needs no explanation. Am I the only one that is bugged by that? Or did I miss a ridiculously obscure codex entry somewhere that discusses it.

Funny how you said you felt a lack of connection with Josephine, but would have wanted Leliana and Morrigan, you never exactly bond with them in the game.

I personally loved the options in this game, especially Josephine.

If Harding was a full romance I would go with her.  Think it would be an interesting dynamic and she is well written enough for me to look forward to conversing with her to flesh out the romance.  Just started a Qunair Malequisitor Sword and Shield and I am finding myself at a loss for who to romance.  I don't mind Cassandra but her piety gets in the way.  Don't like Vivienne because she seems to hypocritcal to me.  If they had toned back on her political agenda and given her a few more redeeming qualities I probably would have gone for her.  I shall wait until her companion quest to full judge though, there might be more there than initially meets the eye.  My main playthrough is as a fem elf mage though and I had plans to go after Sera because she seemed like the best option pre-release.  Having had some conversations with her though I find myself not as interested as once I was.  So as it turns out I might actual go for a straight relationship with Solas who I am actually liking more than I expected.

Also Josephine I lack interest in mostly because she isn't a party member and I don't like the game.

So yeah, definitely a lack of interesting romance options for a hetero male in my honest opinion.  The only characters that I like as people are gay or straight males.  Oh my god!  Was this Biowares gay agenda?  I have heard talk in the forums.  This must be it!  They want to make all us hetero guys gay...

They get you by giving you the option of playing a lesbian in the first couple of games, cause they know your perverted mind will gravitate you towards it.  Then on the third game, once you've been primed for homosexuality, they only interesting love interests are the men!

Haha won't work on me Bioware, won't work on me.  I've seen through your plot!

((Got a little possessed for a moment there.  But honestly.  Why couldn't Dorian have been a chick?  Doria should have been a thing.  And I like Bull as full ****** because...he likes Dawnstone...and its pink...and contrast between non-flamboyant appearance with some flamboyant tendencies is mathematical ;D))

Josephine is a new character.  Even if the Inquisitor is new to Leliana and Morrigan though, we the players are not.  So being more interested in them makes sense to me.  Personally though Dorian is my favourite character.  Wish he was a she though.  I would have my Male Inquisitor ruffle her feathers for sure.  But as it stands Scout Harding is the most desirable lady friend in the game for me.  Wish it was a full romance though and not just some flirting.  Unless someone can verify that it can be something more?

Yeah for me it's just the opposite: I wasn't fond of Leliana in DA:O or Isabela in DA2 and Merrill comes off as very young. So this is the first time I actually like both of the female choices. Both Josephine and Cassandra seem awesome. Once I'm done with Dorian, next playthrough I'll have to go for one of 'em for sure. (Dorian is fine as he is, btw. fem!Dorian would have made me sad. (; )

If you like Sera, don't like the other female options and plan another playthrough anyway, how about making a female character that time around? That would solve the issue with Sera.

I romanced cassandra, she is a lot deeper than what meets the eye, she is fragile and wants the love she sees others having, plus she is a strong and fierce lady, i loved her. Other than her i won't romance any other, none interest me, i thought i'd like josie, but she seems so gullible and naive, plus could she please, just for once, close that mouth of hers? jeez, so yeah, i can see your point and agree. Sometimes you don't need to romance anybody, may leave the door open for something else in the future.

PS. Mass effect, always liara ;)

PPS, How come the kissing in DA:I is soooo subpar compared to ME? it's so much older now, how hard can it be.. urgh..

Is there a "How Many Threads Can We Make About The Exact Same Topic" bet out there somewhere?
