Who/What decides which armors I can craft?

I thought it was the number of promotions

But this is wrong because I've never promoted the Arcane Warrior and could craft the level 5 armor.

This was possible directly after having crafted the first new Armor after starting this class.

which brings me to my next mistake:

I thought that the number of already crafted armors would help.

But with my Assassin (who I have promoted 4-5 times btw) it stopped after having crafted the level 4 armor.

No level 5 available.

WTF ?

Only T1 and T2 armour exists for all classes; except Katari and Necromancer, due to a bug they can craft T3 armour.

All you need to do is: Craft T1 default (not the colour alternatives) and then you can craft the default T2, once you craft the T2 you can then craft the alternative T2 colours which are superior in defense to the default T2.

... maybe I have to craft all available level 4 armors with my Assassin to make the level 5 available??

(dusk version, dawn version, etc.)

I am talking about TIERS not ITEMLEVEL.

But that doesn't explain why the best armor I can craft for my Assassin is level 4

and the best armor for my Arcane Warrior is level 5 and actually a little better.

In both cases I had crafted the highest available armor and it doesn't get any better.

Tier 3 templar armor:

Spoiler

So it does exist, how and when to craft it, I have no idea.

That is not Tier 3 armor.  It's an alternate skin for Tier 2 (Knight-Captain's Regalia), which can be crafted... once you've crafted the Tier 2 armor.

Seriously, there are a dozen threads on this very topic.  This has been covered already.  There is no mystery or randomness to the armor crafting system.  I'd recommend taking a few minutes and reading through the forums before commenting further.

The best armor that can currently be crafted is what people refer to as T2 Alt/Alternate/etc.  It's that fancy item level 5 armor you linked above.  Until special events or new content is added, that's about as good as it gets.

It's just a bit confusing, I thought from reading a few threads that level 3 = T1, level 4 = T2 and level 5 = T3, except for those classes that start at level 4. Not a too strange assumption, but then again I thought tiers were meant as quality differences, not visual differences.

Bioware already cleared this up.

There are T1s

Alternative skin T1s (let's call them 1.5s)

T2s

Alternative skin T2s (2.5s)

T3 shouldn't and doesn't exist yet as per say, only for the classes that are unlocked in T2s.

It's why the look of T3 and 3.5 for those classes is no different from their T2 & 2.5s because they are place holders and shouldn't have been in.

Why some folk are reporting them giving 0 Armor rating
