I never really understood why Hawke was running around with the Greg Wardens and then reported back to Weishaupt after Stroud's likely death in the Fade. I had to skip a lot of dialogue because of the freezing issue, so maybe that explained things more.
While playing I head canoned it all as Hawke's boyfriend, sister and second cousin (Mage Warden) are all Wardens so of course he would have an interest in investigating the group's disappearance. I never could come up with a reasonable explanation for him reporting back to Weishaupt though.

Hawke was working with the grey wardens in an attempt to discover more about red lyrium and its operations, sadly Its been a while since I've been to that section and I'm not a huge fan of the emo hawke so its a bit of a blur now.
I'm on a second playthrough now so if there is no response I will come back to this when I'm at it again.
