Might as well leave some feedback FWIW.

I loved DA:O & DA2 (slightly less). I am a fan of all 3 ME games.

I pre-orderd this and have been looking forward to having a free day to play it. Now I doubt I will be doing so again.

It started badly - after all the promises there is no way to import past save games although if you are willing to take the time to wade through an abysmally poorly designed we site you can sort of recreate the choices you made if you don't resetn the fact that evern after the ME3 debacle they still haven't grasped the vbalue we put on the journey and the shape of the world our choices leave behind us. The only suicess is that it sets a new bar for future failure.

Then I got into the game itself - on the upside I encouhtered no bugs.

On the downsides:

- Character creation was a terrible interface and those stupid colour palette things never work properly.

- The character I spent some small time crafting did not remotely resemble the waxwork zombie-like monstrosity I was then supposed to play (and bear in mind I'm running at ultra graphics here).

- The movement and combat system, are an offemce against gaming that should lead to the designers being expelled from the industry for their sake and the sake of gaming itself.

- The simple act of trying to pick up and object or focus on a target in combat fgelt like a massive chore.

In short there was nothing in this game that felt 'fun', no acknowledgement that it was part 3 in a series and no feeling that this game was made in 2014 rather than 1984. Even the graphics which clearly were using up to date tech turned out looking ugly.

I truly hope other people are actually feeling like they made a good purchase and have fun but I am done with DA3 and done with Bioware.

I'd say one hour is not nearly enough to judge the quality of a game as big as DAI. But then, all I needed was to read the topic title and I knew it would be terrible, so maybe you have a point.

I doubt he even played the game. Just read carefully what he says. There's no way he is legit.

OP, if you are trying to troll, at least put more effort into it.

First of all you can import a save... as long as your previous saves were uploaded to the keep.

Second, character creation is one of the best I personally have used in a long while, and yes there were restarts because dammit my eyelashes were 1mm too big in game but thats part of games like this, lots of people will remake it till it looks perfect.

Third... yup pc controls suck.

You've waited this long to play a game you got on day one (or near enough) and have only given it a short amount of time before quitting.
You have not asked for help, you just blasted the game while spitting your dummy out.

You. Will. Not. Be. Missed.

So what I'm getting is:

-You're impatient
-You suck at character creation
-You weren't alive in 1984 and have no idea how games were back then

To be honest, one game can ruin a franchise for you. In my case, that game is Mass Effect 3. Don't get me wrong, it is an awesome game, but with the ending it has, I am not getting ME4.

But with this thread, I don't really agree with the OP. The character creation is very, very robust and well made, the only complaint I have with it is the lighting. That could be better.

The PC controls, especially for movement during fights feel a tad sluggish at first, but when you keep playing, it gets better. No, you get better, with the controls.

- The character I spent some small time crafting did not remotely resemble the waxwork zombie-like monstrosity I was then supposed to play (and bear in mind I'm running at ultra graphics here).

I assume you are referring to the ultra shiny hair - you can fix that by setting, in your graphics settings, your mesh setting to "high". As I understand it, the shine problem occurs both in the highest settings and settings lower than high.

And one hour of playing is clearly not enough to form a reasonable opinion on the game. Initially I found the controls very frustrating, and I still think they are sub-optimal, but they no longer detract from the story or my enjoyment of the game, after I had a chance to get accustomed to them. The tactical mode still sucks though, but as I understand it, they're working on improving that with patches.

Also, I'd recommend a ranged character to start out with. Much easier to control while you're learning the ropes. I'm on my first playthrough, playing an archer, and enjoying it.

If you DO choose to actually give the game a chance, rather than throw it away after an hour, I'd give, as a hint, a recommendation against being a completionist. There's SO much content here, that a completionist attitude may have you stay in the Hinterlands for hours, doing side quests - don't be afraid to leave the hinterlands when you've gotten enough of it, and advance the main plot. You can always return later.

If you truly are done, then it's your loss. You are allowing a very initial impression to prevent you from seeing what is a very, very good game.

I have a feeling I'm probably wasting my time and don't need to bother but Bioware said several times long before the game came out there would be no direct import. That shouldn't have been a surprise to anyone. The keep is the next best thing. It doesn't cover every single side quest but it covers a good number of them. I don't get why you pre-ordered if you knew that and didn't like it. Also, this game looks light years ahead of games from the 80s in my opinion...the environments I've played through so far have been very good graphically speaking. It's not perfect but it's far from being a 1980s arcade game.

Fine. Leave this forum be. Go a walk outside. Play something else, get social.
I dislike skyrim but i never went on to bash it.
Bash =/= critisicm.
your one hour of gameplay is not a critisism. it is bashing.

I played for 2 seconds and uninstalled.  All I saw was the same two character models used for *everyone*, and it was just the same walk animation looped over and over for all the npc's.  Gameplay was completely linear. "Click to Continue", really Bioware?  Just ripping off the funeral scene from Call of Duty? That's your idea of interactive gameplay??

Screw this, I'm out...

@OP

You made the right choice, it's even worse after 50 hours believe me.  I must be stronger than I thought to put up with it this far without uninstalling and sending Bioware to Coventry.

Wasn't intended as a troll and probably should have spellchecked... but I'd anticipated for this for a while and the trailers looked very good so I had probably raised my expectations too high. I didn't play on release day because I was in the middle of a campaign in ESO that I wanted to finish first.

I have no doubt the story of this game will be at the worst interesting and at besat great - I'm sure there is some great dialogue to be had and some choices to agonise over but I really can't get past the controls and the weird waxwork look of the characters.

I did not rage over ME3 like many but was irritated by the lack of attention ot the overall story arcs in the thrid game, my understanding (clearly mistaken) was that DA3 would import choices to some extent (and maybe I am just not finding the option but if it is there such a key option shouldn't need to be dug out). After DA:O being an old scholl 4 man top downer many didn't like the console style of DA2 but I actually enjoyed the feel of it as you ripped through the trash mobs. This game seems to have tried to implement something of each and got something that does not feel as good as either - when a game throws you into combat from the start it is quite important that combat is responsive and intuitive which this was not.

One day I may try it again but that day will not be soon.

I am sorry if the fans find my opinion so offensive they need to see it as trolling but so be it.

I also have abandoned games after one hour.  So thats not new.  However I never bashed a game for it because to critisize a game devs put effort in making needs to be played fully or at least half.  Besides Bioware games I buy them at bargain prices and youtube them to make a better judgement call.  Even this is not waterproof.

Research before buying never hurts, but you didn't even do that regarding your import saves remark!

Main reason people can't take you seriously is the complete lack of precision ; you don't give your specs, you don't give anything to backup your claims (why does the combat sucks in your opinion ?) and one hour is definitely not enough to judge a game of this scale, intensity and depth. That, and the shiny hair is a thing that can be easily solved, if only you bother to change one slider in your options...

Dragon Age Keep is an overhall good compromise between saves imports (not giving you any chance of edition) and pre-etablished worlds like in DA2 in the case of your save being bugged/not flagged properly. It's working well, considering it's still labeled a beta, and the tutorial is nice. My general impression is that you're either very impatient or ridiculously exigent.

Now,  maybe the grabbing system isn't flawless, and the lightening in CC is poorly representative, but your review isn't constructive and is clearly not going to give you any credit here.

I'm not even counting your dramatic title.
