How to use the revival spell?

This is probably one of those things that's staring me right in the face but for some reason I can't see it, so sorry if the answer to the question is obvious. ^_^

I can't get this spell to work. I play most fights in tactical mode and when I select the revival spell for the mage to use it shows it's queued up as his next action but he just returns to attacking and never casts it. I've tried using the clear commands option before selecting the spell thinking maybe it was an auto-attack thing but that doesn't work either.

So maybe I am just using it incorrectly. What I do is pause, select the mage and select the spell. The green targeting spell effect is displayed with the prompt at the bottom of the screen asking me to confirm the casting of the spell. I move the targeting effect over the fallen character, their name appears above their body and then I hit the "A" button on the controller to confirm the cast. But like I said the spell queues up beside the mage's portrait but then when I un-pause it goes away and he goes into a basic attack.

What am I missing?

Thanks.

You have to aim it on the ground where a dead companion is.

Also, if it's one of your companions with it, and you set it to preferred, they are pretty good about using it

Yeah. Maybe I didn't word it well in my original post but that is what I am doing. The problem I'm having is the mage is just ignoring that and not casting the spell.

Thanks, it is one of the companions. I will give that a shot. Like I said I play most battles in paused tactical mode just because I like to control everything. Because of that I play with the AI off and all abilities disabled. I'll try turning that guy's AI back on and enabling that ability.

Or you can throw those healing/resurrecting grenades on him, which schematic you can find under the castle in Crestwood.

Whoa, that's real good to know. I wasn't aware there were resurrecting grenades. Timely answer too because I was planning to go to Crestwood tonight for the first time. :)

To get them you have to:

- Capture the castle;

- Drown the lake;

- Defeat a big spider.

And finally you'll need to upgrade them after finding the schematic. I personally love them.

Edit: they are called: Healing Mist (in case you want to youtube it).

I have the exact same problem.
