Spoilers for later in the game I guess

So I've been wanting to break it off with Solas for awhile (yes, I kissed him in the Fade early in the game -- didn't realize that meant we're practically married in the eyes of other players, namely Cullen!). I read somewhere that my next opportunity to either advance the romance or break it off would be after the Well of Sorrows quest. I also saw a video of the Inquisitor/Solas encounter after that quest confirming that. So I finished the quest and went to see Solas, and we had a conversation in keeping with the video I saw (he asks me what I'll do with the power, blah blah blah), but then nothing. He doesn't take me to the Fade, I have no options to further or derail the romance. He's just like, "Okay, see you later!" and now I have no dialogue options with him at all. What happened??? I just want to break up with this damned bald boring elf!

(Note: I actually like Solas. I'm just pissed off that I can't pursue a romance with Cullen because I apparently welded myself to Solas accidentally early in the game and now can't Dear John him!)

I really, really don't want to start a new play through. Any advice would be awesome!

PS -- This is my first message board post. I apologize if this isn't the place to ask individual gameplay questions!

Did you ever get his personal quest where he asks you to help his friend? You should have gotten another cutscene after that where the romance could continue; the Well of Sorrows one is actually the third/fourth romance scene.

You are nearing the end of the game, isn't it too late to start a new romance? You'll be missing out a lot of content.

Believe me, I'd have broken up with him awhile ago if the damned game would let me! But you're right. I should probably see this one out and then start a new play through.

Hi! Yes, I did his personal quest and helped his friend. There probably was a romance scene after that, though I don't really remember. I'm definitely not getting anything after the Well of Sorrows though. Once I decided I was going to break up with Solas at the next opportunity, I stopped trying to keep him happy. Now I'm worried I've pissed him off enough that we're no longer in a romance, but, still, when I try to start something with Cullen, he reminds me that I'm in a relationship with someone else.

That's definitely strange... When you went to the Winter Palace, did you take Solas with you? If so, did your Inquisitor dance with him at the end?

Also, what does he say to your Inquisitor when you try to talk to him? Does he just say "Inquisitor," or does he say something else?

You may need to finish the story. You may find that Solas is difficult to locate after this which may or may not end the Romance. You also find out that Solas might not just be a boring elf and that his vast knowledge wasn't gained simply by reading books or exploring the fade.

No. She isn't able to trigger the final romance scene, where she would be able to break up with Solas and end up with Cullen like she wants. Please don't spread false information while also hinting at spoilers; it isn't very polite.

Just play it to the end....... You'll probably be really satisfied, when you finish the game with a Solas romance.

Well at this point I don't think I'm getting the Solas romance ending either. Whenever I strike up conversation, he just says "Inquisitor," and my only conversation option is Goodbye.

I didn't take Solas with me to the Winter Palace, so at the end I just had a nice talk with Josephine. Alas.

Solas says "Inquisitor," and my only option to select is "Goodbye." I fear I broke him. It's my own fault for being fickle, I suppose!

Did you ever flirt with anyone else...? It could be someone else messing with your romance stuff. That's the only thing I can think of--otherwise I think you're right and it got broken somehow. I'm sorry. :( You could try posting something here, but that won't fix your problem now.

Also, you're likely correct about the game not recognizing the romance as "locked in" since you can't get the romance scene after What Pride Had Wrought.

Yeah, I figure either I screwed it up by equivocating or the game glitched on me. It's okay! I'm going to start a new play-through. I didn't like my Inquisitor's hair anyway.  :) Thank you for your help!
