We certainly have a colorful bunch this time around. What I'm curious about though is if they are deserving of a place in the next game's cast. Of course not all of them are worthy of it. But some are defiantly interesting enough.

Assuming the next game is about Tevinter/Qunari as most of us suspect, Bull or Dorian are the obvious choices for the Oghren/Anders/Varric spot.

I don't want any of our companions coming back again as companions. Varric IMHO, did not work due to him seeming more like Hawke's bro who just hangs out with us.

Now, I don't mind companions coming back as advisors/NPCs or advisors/NPCs coming back as companions. I thought Leliana coming back as an advisor was awesome, and Cass becoming a companion was awesome as well, but the recurring companion thing just doesn't work for me. The only way I could see it working would be is if they kept the same Inquisitor.

I would love to see, say, Harding as a companion and/or any of our current companions as advisors/NPCs though.

Varric didn't work very well because he's not a very good character begin with. He's always been a disaster when it comes to writing because they focus too much on making him likeable and a "bro" rather than making him interesting and complex.

Scout Harding because you can't just ship tease her and the Inq and then follow up on it?

The Black Templar in Val Royeaux, who seemed to be the only who who seemed willing to hear out the Inquisitor despite their being a "heretic", questioned the order for the Templars and Seekers to abandon Val Royeaux and looked angry when the cleric was punched in the face by "Lucius". I don't know what happened to that guy and I hope he deserted the order before he was Red Lyriumed up, because I liked the cut of his jib.

anyways, If we are going to tevinter in da4 I would like to see Dorian and Calpernia, both indicate that they are going to tevinter or possibly indicate in Calperinia's case.

Assuming we are going to Northern Thedas I would like to see Iron Bull or Dorian back as a returning companion (both preferably), and maybe even Isabela (due to her ties to Qunari) or Fenris. And Sten needs to be a main character, definitely not a companion though.

Edit: I forgot about Maevaris, she should definitely be a companion.

I assume that's only if you side with the Templars, because I went pro-Mage (as per usual) and never saw him after that scene?

yea you only really see the awesomeness of ser barris if you side with the templars.

Yes. It's one of the reasons I consider siding with the Templars superior because he's a more interesting character than anything you get with the mage side, except maybe Alexius himself.

Anyway, on topic. Personally I don't want to see any companions returning as companions. That **** needs to stop. If for no other reason than I'm tired of these people who I leveled to ungodly amounts of power need to stop showing up as level five or lower. But also because it takes up a spot on the roster that they could use to develop another new character.

Also, throwing another vote behind Scout Harding.

I'd like a whole new group of characters with maybe only one or two characters coming back full time. Don't get me wrong, I totally love it when old characters come back for a cameo or whatever, but only when the story allows it and it makes sense. It's nice to have old ties linking the new material, but I also want to explore new characters and experience new journeys with them.

I'm afraid letting Solas join would be a terrible idea(beyond terrible), because my dialogues with him would probably go like this:

My protagonist: Why did you leave me?

Solas: I'm sorry?

My protagonist: (a long tirade in Elvish)

Solas: I just met you, actually. And, no, I'm definitely not a romance option.

My protagonist: (headdesk)

I personally think Solas' story needs to be wrapped up in DAI DLC. Assuming they are going to stick with the "new protagonist each game" plan - which I hope they do - then that is a storyline that needs the Inquisitor involved in it's resolution, not whichever random hero we're going to be next game.

agreed, not to mention almost every single person who has romanced solas is asking for a witch-hunt treatment for him :P

I vote for Maevaris so much. It will be interesting to have a trans companion. Mae ftw.

Also i'd prefer to not see any companions from previous games returning. Maybe one, but that is.

I would support Maevaris' inclusion in the game.

I would adamantly oppose Cole's inclusion in my party again.

Yep, Varric's cousin was Mae's husband.
