I'd love it if we had something like this, although the only way I could see such a character existing is in a world-state where the Warden is alive and researching a cure for the Calling, you spared the Architect in Awakening and Avernus was allowed to continue his experiments (ethically). With all those plot points active, it'd make sense to find a darkspawn or two who've perhaps been experimented on so they're no longer Blight-contagious, as part of their joint efforts?

Sadly, because it'd be so plot-specific, they'd probably only be a temporary companion, but it'd still be cool if we had something like that, since we already had Justice in Awakening and no-one seemed to raise too many eyebrows about the walking, talking corpse following us about.

My only concern about a heroic Darkspawn is that they might end up being revealed to be a double-agent, since;

And as I forgot to mention them last time, it'd be great to see the Bull's Chargers appear in a cameo in another game, especially Krem.

See, that's a good example of how you should always make the Dwarf happy, because it'll pay off in the end.

The Awakened Darkspawn are an inevitability after the Awakening crisis (genie out of the bottle and all that). Better to take them as allies in their formative years than as enemies because you slaughtered their messiah.

I also wouldn't mind seeing Hawke return. Let's face it, the character doesn't really get all that great an arc over the franchise thus far; s/he engages in some fights that amount to nothing, s/he ends up making everything worse accidently, or at the very least has all of his or her successes backfiring, and then the character either

. Having Hawke back to complete some great quest/conquer Kirkwall/generally be a badass would be a nice change of pace.

Yeah, Hawke's character arc really seemed to have been screwed over by the not-so-great reception of DA2 and cancellation of it's expansion. I'm cool with Hawke getting put out to pasture along with the Warden so that we can make way for another character, but I'd much prefer Hawke be busy ruling Kirkwall than stuck up at Weisshaupt?

It'd make more narrative sense to keep Hawke in Kirkwall as well. If Hawke was already Viscount, they return to take on Sebastian for attempting to steal their throne. If they're married to Sebastian, they help him run the place. If Hawke wasn't made Viscount in DA2, they return to free the city from Sebastian's annexation and are elected ruler by the grateful nobility.

Plus with all the complete misfortune they've suffered, they really need a solid win at this point.

Assuming the next game moves north Dorian would make the most sense as DA4's Varric. He is Tevinter and stated a desire to return home, so he makes a bit more sense to cross paths with a northern protagonist than some of the other companions.

I'd love to run into Carver or Bethany Hawke if they are Wardens. You could always have them show up at Weisshaupt.

I'd like to see Duke Otranto return as a minor character. His cameo in the Josephine romance arc was interesting, and he is an Antivan Duke.

I like Otranto and wouldn't mind him making an appearance.

Rapiers need to be a more prominent feature in Thedas. Might play a rogue more if I could use one of those instead of a pair of daggers.

Because it's fair to blame the victim who suffered through a ton of bad things that were completely outside their control?

Spoiler

Not trying to make excuses for Hawke, but really a lot of the stuff they are blamed for really is undeserved, as it often was the result of other people screwing up and leaving Hawke carrying the bag at the end of the day?

I didn't say Hawke was responsible. I said he was useless. As "leader of his merry band of misfits" as he puts it and later as Champion of the city-state he should have been more proactive in stopping bad **** from happening instead of reacting, failing, and then getting popcorn.

But before s/he became Champion, Hawke didn't have any official job or position in the city and afterwards, Meredith had already consolidated power to the Templars (and was trying to muscle in on the Kirkwall guard), so it's not like Hawke was really in any position of authority even as Champion.

Most of what we hear they do as Champion is attend banquets in their honour, deal with things for the city that no-one else wants to do, or great foreign heads of state because, as shown by Meredith's meeting with Alistair, she's a poltical disaster in the making. In effect, we never really saw Hawke get the chance to lead, as they were stuck as the Intern/Almighty Janitor/Mascot.

But I think we're derailing the thread, eh?

Bianca, Sigrun and Scout Harding for DA4, as part of an elite cadre of female dwarven rogues, who answer to a boss named "Charlie".

Well, I think a lot of names have been dropped in this thread that either make obvious sense or wouldn't require too contrived of an explanation to make sense.

Abelas needs to return at some point, his backstory and character seemed like it had too much weight to simply discard in a casual exit, stage left...

That's because there's some kind of anti-Dwarf conspiracy at work, I swear...

Look at Varric and Bianca, even dwarves aren't able to romance their paramours anymore! It's not like lore doesn't say that dwarves have enough trouble breeding normally, without star-crossed lovers being added to the list!

Seriously guys, what's up with all the rock-blocking going on in Dragon Age?

Okay, third time, can't promise it's the last.

I'm almost expecting Harding to be a companion and LI in the next game.  A lot of people are wanting it.

I really want Dorian back for a Tevinter story.  He really wants to help change his homeland for the better and I'd like to help him do it - he probably won't be a companion, though, due to the fact that he was an LI in Inquisition.

Mae would be a pretty bada** companion.  I vote for her in next game as one of the mages.

Cole feels like he has more story to go, so he could be as well.

I also vote for Abelas  :bandit: as companion and......LI!  :P

I wouldn't want Abelas as a companion unless we got him fairly late in the game. Understand that character levels don't actually mean jack, storywise, but it always feels odd to me when we get a character who's significantly less powerful than they should be.

That's one of the main reasons I don't want any returning companions.

Abelas as LI in DLC for those who want to kick Solas to the curb after the crap he put us through.   :D

The choice between them would be hellish, wouldn't it?  But oh so satisfying on so many different levels.

I'd want to see a whole new cast. For cameos though, I'd love to see any one of the old companions again. And an Anders/Justice DLC would be awesome! I seriously *squeeed* when I saw Alistair's cameo in DAI.

As someone who spared Anders, I'd like to see him back so we can properly free him from Justice, who never seems to get any of the blame for his role in Anders going off the deep end in DA2. Since our Inquisitor has the power to punch a hole into the Fade and can seemingly banish demons at will, it'd be nice to see if they can also seperate the two of them and punt that meddlesome spirit back into the Fade where he belongs?

Don't you mean free Justice from Anders? I mean Anders is kind of the one who caused the whole problem in the first place. First by inviting him Justice in, and then his constant wangsting turn poor Justice into a demon. Also even though he was influnced by Vengeance, Anders still blew up the chantry out of his own volition.

Hoping they stay away from Tevinter; writing more "blame the mages" bullsh*t is not what we need. Even though that's exactly what they'll do because of "artistic integrity".

They should have a heavy focus on Qunari vs. Chantry and bring back non-mage companions, preferably Isabela, Aveline, Sera and the Bull. Either or shall do, unless they wish to top that.
