Now I know that the title isn't 100% true but in some cases it really is, especially when playing with a full pug team with no communication with something as simple as "lets lure them around this corner to cluster and kill them", so what happens is that even as a Reaver that has heavy armour on (apparently) you still get completely wrecked by archers within a few hits almost as if I'm wearing paper armour, but the overpowered archer debate can be for another time (even though it's a cause of this games multiplayer problem).

So in MassEffect3 which was biowares first attempt at multiplayer with their RPG game set the table for how they wanted to make this games MP, problem is it simply doesn't work because even though they took out healers they still left in the fact that you need a tank, so instead of having the holy trinity were left with the holy duo which has just made this game worse instead, if we had a healer/support class in the game that could replenish health, armour buff etc then that would make the game more enjoyable for players like my self and we wouldn't be left with this cluster **** of everyone wants to play DPS and barely anyone wants to bother with tanks because for the most part they're fairly boring in comparison and 4 skills really doesn't help for tanking efficiency.

So I thought to my self perhaps nerfing enemy archers damage would actually help as with no tank there is no fun in having 1/4 of your life ripped off by a single archer in 1 hit and that's providing they didn't use a skill in which some cases you can do nothing about it to avoid, so unless you have a coincidentally good 4 classes that can manage to work without a tank with no brain dead players then you're left eating too much damage and inevitably the floor all because a tank is required and there's only 2, that being a tank that can efficiently tank leaving you with just your boring auto attack and the templar that's more of a mini tank and a line holder which mainly helps for if you have at least 2 ranged DPS, I find my self wanting to play MP less with pugs and only want to bother when playing with a friend at the very least, all because a tank is needed and bioware took out healing which I can only pray they bring back into multiplayer.

Played six consecutive 4 Katari runs on threatening with some friends last night. We started with 1 lvl 20, a lvl 11, a lvl 5 and a lvl 1. We didn't fail one run til we tried taking our act to perilous, putting us in our place.

Yes, I wasn't pugging, but our communication consisted of shouting charge and then constant laughter as four bull charges hit the group and the mighty blows, earthshaking strikes and massive aoe cleave that followed.

Not only was this pretty easy with 4 of the "worst class", but also the most fun I've had on this game so far.

With decent gear, and a solid understanding of your class, the only thing you need role variation for in this game is to open doors.

I think, especially on perilous, it's pretty much mandatory to have both keeper with barrier and a dedicated non-reaver tank to even make it past wave 2. On threatening you can usually make it to wave 5, occasionally even complete it, without a tank though.

Yep.  Katari is pretty effective in threatening; perilous not so much.

Well, until the devs put armor in the game thats higher than level 6, we all will continue to take high amounts of damage from all sources, especially archers.

It's not the enemy themselves, its the fact that we got weapons over level 20 but armor at level 4.

From what i hear, lot of features haven't made it to the full game, including lots of gear for multiplayer, so I just held off on playing the multiplayer for a while.

I think the archers do so much damage because you're meant to promote to get cunning up for your characters to get their ranged defense higher. The amount of promotions needed kinda makes me sick to my stomach though.

People also don't work together very well either, let's be honest, lol. Even where there is a tank and a keeper, nine times out of ten, the keeper doesn't even try to use barrier in random matches on the tank, hardly anyone wants to cc anything around the tank to help the tank survive and in turn help them survive, much less use cc on the archers off to the side that the tank hasn't agro'd on them yet. This makes random matches hell. Not even worth it on perilous.

I agree that you need barrier for perilous, but you can get that from ele. The easiest perilous runs for me have been Ele + Necro for the damage and control both bring + whatever other 2 classes.

Actually I think the missing healing brings in an interesting twist. And let's be honest - you don't even need a player for healing - a bot could do this stupid task better and it would never get bored by doing it also.

In general the problem you have here is:

Scenario 1: The tank is needed and people get annoyed at needing one slot to be used up on the tank, which is probably not a terribly popular role since it doesn't have big numbers and gets blamed often for wipes.

Scenario 2: The tank isn't needed, and people get annoyed at other players who want to play tanks because their lack of big numbers slows down the run.

If you want to fix #1, you've got to be careful about causing #2. You don't want to end up in a situation where tanks are getting kicked from lobbies because they don't do enough DPS and their durability doesn't mean anything.
