So what's the earliest you can start killing dragons on Nightmare or hard and what class do you need for that? Archer? Mage?
I'm thinking of trying to kill dragons before Specializations as early as possible so some pointers would be nice.

level 4 right after prologue as archer. 20min

Got a build somewhere I could copy and paste? My originality died a long while ago.
Low level dragon kill: You abuse the range. Archers abilities, and mages abilities + attacks, got no range. So you can stand as far away as you can target the dragon and just spam until it dies.
Legit, however, I think the lowest level would be 8. That's the point your tank gets the Maserwork Vanguard armor, and you can reach 1-damage-mitigation.
Recommended level would be 11+ though. As an Archer I had to work quite a bit to take down the Ferelden Frostback pre-skyhold at level 11. But in the end I managed to work around the idiotic AI, and he fell ![]()

Thanks dood.
I think I saw your tank build around here somewhere and it should give me an edge for it.
As KE you need 8 skillpoint build and 55 dps staff you can get schematic for in Orlais. 8 skillpoints as a human is level 6 but you'll likely be higher level when you get the spec. Without specs and abuses S&B warrior is probably the best bet.
Afaik: you'd be level 10 at the earliest in skyhold. Given the Temple/Mage boss is level 7-9 I believe, and the last haven mission is level 9.
So you could go as a KE at level 10 and do it, sure.
I still don't think you could do it earlier than 8. Simply because the tank would take too much damage and drink all the potions in a heartbeat.
