Hello,

Couldn't find any posts on hunters, so thought I would start a thread.  First of all, I think we are all aware that they are inferior to archers in terms of DPS, but damn does that upgraded armor look good.  I'm level 11 with a 139 dps blue bow, so far from an expert but just wanted to get the ball rollng on a hunter thread.

So far the skills I'm having fun with are Full Draw, Explosive Shot (Upgraded), Stealth (Upgraded) and Spike Trap (Upgraded).  So I try to start in stealth, lay a trap, and open with Full Draw.  You should have enough stamina for an immediate Explosive shot, then you are just auto attacking until the CD on Spike Trap is up.  You can have at least 2, maybe 3, spike traps out at once, try to stand on top of one.  The first time an assassin popped out of the shadows only to be flung in the air made me lol.  As far as passives go, the bonus damage after a trap is tripped is mandatory, still experimenting with the rest.

So what do you guys use?

Get the critical strike on attack that breaks stealth. Use stealth and full draw to kill a lieutenant mob before the rest of the team attacks it. Your weapon should do maybe 4k crit damage, with a griffon it would hit about 6k.

I never tried spike trap but if it can deal with enemy rogues I might try it someday. Right now I use leaping shot instead. It synergizes well with pincushion, helping you build up damage increase on a target, but it is finicky to use, and you may completely miss with it if you don't have the dumb targeting system sure about what you are aiming at.

Full draw, explosive shot, stealth, throwing blades. Upgrade everything but full draw.

Passives: Fury of the storm, throat cutter, strafing shots, fighting dirty, cheap shot, first blood, second wind, gaps in the armor, tricks of the trade, knife in the shadows, evasion, easy to miss

Use Stealth on every cooldown for free crits. Crits sunder armor with cheap shot. Combined with gaps in the armor, this ups your damage considerably. Use explosive shot and throwing blades from stealth to AOE crit groups of enemies. Use full draw from stealth on full HP elite opponents such as assassins. This combined with First blood will one-shot most anything. (~8k damage with my 180dps bow) Use stealth to evade opponents when under attack. Attack from behind whenever possible to decrease threat. (Easy to miss skill)

Keeping sunder on large opponents is key to group synergy. (Throwing blades, cheap shot)

If possible use a bow with +health on hit. If you do, using throwing blades and explosive shot will heal you for a significant amount.

If possible use a how with crit chance to maximize the number of sunders from cheap shot.

Stealth, Full Draw, Leaping Shot and Explosive Shot. All upgraded but Full Draw.

Stealth > Full Draw (tanky/threatening target) > Leaping shot (reduces Stealth cooldown significantly)

Stealth > Explosive Shot (group of archers)

I cant guarantee it, but im pretty sure my hunter build can out-deeps an archer.  Unfortunately it relies on using Longbow of the Griffon's triple shot mechanic to the fullest, which doesnt help in this case.

A bow assassin build works well.  Stealth, full draw, fall back plan, and your choice for the final (went with evade).  Pretty simple idea, place a marker, stealth, and find the most threatening unit up ahead.  Full draw under the stealth damage bonus + guaranteed crit.  Use marker to return to safety once you have taken enough hits  It tends to be overkill though.

Thanks for the feedback fellas,

I didn't know that each hit with leaping shot counted towards the CDR for stealth, that is gonna be worth a try for sure.  Penguin, that build sounds like fun, once I get a half decent bow I'll try it out.

Oh and I'm wondering, if any of you have bought the upgrades for the tier 2 armor, which color pattern you like the most? Trying to decide which to buy next.

Too true sadly. This one damn unique bow. But once you do have the bow it's a lot of fun. ^_^ I had stealth, leaping shot, full draw and spike trap but I promoted. Thinking about going with Stealth/Leaping Shot/Spike trap and Throwing blades this time because I hardly ever got to assassinate and make proper use of full draw. Would be different If I played the Hunter with friends but assassin shines bright with communication in your group.

Leaping shot does pretty nice damage if you treat your bow like a shotgun and stay close range. And with the upgrade you've got 600% weapon damage and knockdown on your next basic attack that I pop from stealth. You can do 5k+ with this. Throwing blades should help take down some lone targets faster and quite often that are too far away to shotgun.

I basically have the same, but kept fallback plan instead of full draw.  I like the added protection since being at point blank means you will take some hits.

True enough. :) Between leaping shot, the knockback on the basic attack after that, the spike trap and really fast cooldown on stealth I took it off my bar and seemed to do alright. Gotta love no threat when flanking. Hook 'n tackle may also be a nice one instead of throwing blades. Use it and then a basic attack I've got my 400% weapon damage right there no stamina no cooldown free gap closing.

True.  Closing the gap is the longest part of any engagement
