Doublechecking World State

I'm sure this has been suggested before, but it'd be really nice if you could somehow verify that your world state actually imported correctly beyond the initial tooltip that says it did. Something as simple as showing the Hero of Ferelden's race/gender/LI, Hawke's gender and LI, and impactful choices like who rules Ferelden and what happened to this guy and the other dude.

I just spent a great deal of time going through a character and doing just about everything I could conceivably do up until Skyhold, trying to soak in as much as the content as I can. That's great and all, and the game is fantastic, but the Keep just doesn't seem to work all the time. After doing everything I did and noticing that every detail matched I was pretty comfortable - that is until Varric mentioned that Hawke was a dude, and not five minutes later I met him and noticed that, yep, he's a guy. I imported a woman. I checked on my choices, looked at the tapestry, all that. It just imported incorrectly. I know it probably seems like a small detail, but it means a lot to me. Doing as much as I did makes restarting seem like such an unattractive idea. I don't really want to go back and collect all those shards and connect all the star dots. I don't feel like exploring every map available at that point, placing all the landmarks, doing every grindy sidequest, none of it. I'd rather just move forward, but noticing a glitch like this makes it difficult because the world doesn't feel like it's actually mine.

Something really simple like a codex entry listing your choices would be great. I know a lot of people have had problems much like mine, but replaying isn't a good option. Who's to say it'll work the second time around? That could very well end up in more wasted time, and going back to the same areas and experiencing the same things over and over again wears out the game.

That'd be nice, yeah. Only way to know now is by asking Varric about Hawke at the beginning of the game.

I tried that first playthrough, but I figured when he said 'he' he meant the Arishok. I have two world states right now. My first character heard 'he' from Varric in Haven but met a female Hawke. I didn't think too much of it this time around.

Alas codex entrys only pop up after you pause the breach expansion

If not a codex entry, just a little menu that appears just before you go into the character creator. Anything that could prevent somebody from going through hours upon hours of content only to discover something went wrong with an import would be great.

While not as ideal as showing some major choices when importing, you can quickly check what was imported by going to playthrough states in the Keep (go to the world state manager, and they are one to the left of the editable world states). If you have no playthrough states then that means that your EA account is has not synched with your current playthrough (which likely means that you are not synching with the right account).

That's the problem, though. The import is said to have worked correctly in all fields. I see this reflected ingame. The one thing that didn't work - and I checked up on it - is Hawke's gender. I'm almost ready to assume that it's a matter of using a custom hero rather than the default femhawk, but that would still be a bug in the Keep that should be addressed.

Alright two questions then. 1. Are you sure you are checking Playthrough States and not Editable States? I'm pretty sure 90% of the time when I tell people to check their playthrough states they have no idea of what I am talking about so I feel compelled to triple check on this point. 2. What are some examples of decisions you have seen reflected in game?

If you check the playthrough state for your game, you can then save it to an editable state in the Keep - this will let you see an exact, editable version of what was actually read into DAI, as opposed to the world state you created for import.

If everything went correctly, there should be no differences, and you can easily check Hawke's gender (either with the preview images or by viewing the tapestry in its entirety)

There is a page on how to do this here: http://forum.bioware...through-states/

If your Hawke gender still shows as incorrect, I would re-set it in the Keep and re-import it if it's important to you - a new playthrough should show in the Keep as soon as you complete character creation, letting you confirm this quickly.  Custom heroes shouldn't matter for importing, but it may have been set wrong for some other reason.

Maybe they should have put at the start of the game an Opening Crawl like star wars. Detailing the major plot points of the past two games.
