Being a visually impaired handica[[ed individual, I feel your pain on the lack of accesability for ppl in our shoes. My issue is mainly SP on the codex's and smaller text like it, so my problem is quite different. I have played FF XIV: ARR on the ps3 with keyboard hooked up so that I could use the text chat and it worked for the most part.

I don't know  anything about the ADA thing that you were previously advsied about. But as this is the Intellectual property of a company and they stated before the games release that text chat would not be available, I'm pretty sure that a Lawsuit would not work. Most likely it is also too late for it to be included in this game, even as a patch. The only thing that (most likely) you would be able to do at this point, is make your concerns voiced and then hope for the best on the next installment.

Personally, I don't feel like communication is needed for DAMP, but that's just me.

The fun fact being that ME3 did have text chat because it was a UE3 game and a simple INI tweak would enable it. But telling people how to do that got me banned on the forums once...

And given that DAI is based on Frostbite I'm almost willing to bet that this, too, has built in text chat that has just been disabled/hidden.

That is all new to me. If they ban you for telling people how to enable it then I assume they didn't want it in first place. But even so, too bad for them. Text chat is MUST for PC. They know the better. I mean, why would I waste $500 on PC for PC games that has text chat and find out new game that does not have one disappoint me. I built my PC for that purpose. Consoles NEVER I mean NEVER have text chat in these multiplayer games. Even ps3/ps4/xbox 360/xbone always has keyboard support. I just think they don't think we'd buy a simple keyboard for consoles.

I feel your pain. I hate reading small texts even I have good eyes. It is really annoying how you can't adjust the text size for most of games. Lets say you have 4K tv...still no option to adjust text size is really dumb.

I am not aware that they did state about this game not having text chat.

yeah I will keep voicing even if I must keep bumping this thread till I get word from Bioware or EA.

Well to be fair, I just tried play controller for my pc for first time...it is actually lot easier with controller as others stated that since it is straight port from console. But I'd rather to have communicate. They make game more fun. They have voice chat so it is really not fair for deaf gamers and others who don't want to use voice.

Yeah, I can agree with this. I'm extremely shy, and although I'm literally sitting at my computer with a headset that has a mic attachment I cant bring myself to unmute it for multiplayer. It's much easier for me to articulate thoughts and explanations through words than it is through my voice, so I tend to keep the audiochat for Skype or playing multiplayer games with people I know.

I am guessing you have never played Final Fantasy XIV ARR. It will work like that. It let you play with controller. If need type something, you can just press a key to enter chat box and type then send. peasy easy.

FFXIV ARR also won game of the year from Ablegamers charity for being so disabled friendly, whereas Dragon Age Inquisition was pretty much black flagged for being unfriendly to disabled gamers.

I hope the dev team will pay attention to the amount of disabled gamers who love their games, but they seem to be preoccupied with the console generation to notice their customers. The same thing happened with Nintendo how they isolated their hardcore fan-base to go after casual gamers and look how well that turned out :P.

I'm with you, I did the multiplayer on ME3 silent throughout; but at least not having hearing issues I could follow instruction.  I think what people fail to realise is that those who prefer text chat can probably type pretty fast (I know I can); and would it hurt to make it an option?

Indeed! I love to play with bunch of randoms. I have like 4 friends on my list and only one of them do play DA: I. I need more friends to play together and use either origins or skype for text chat. They may be not best option to use but better than nothing. But problem is...You can't add randoms when you meet them in lobby...at least I don't know how to.

Yeah. They are still pushing Bioware to fix. Ablegamer told me that they also are pushing for text chat as well.

I played lot of ME 3 multiplayer on xbox 360 and PS3. Never played on PC. ME 3 didn't need "roles" to play right to win. But for DA: I, it is quite different. Each player dies at end (5/5), risk of losing increase. Enemies get more stronger that way. So it require right amount of team work (WHICH that also require communicate) to clear.

I was really surprised to realize there was no chat in DAI multiplayer. It's something crucial for all to communicate and play in online games, and the vocal they added is useless since you never know from which country your other teammates will be.

The question is, does bioware even care about the game anymore at this stage?

Considering the last Multiplayer DLC was free I'd say yes. I'd be surprised if they didn't pick up and start giving us a bit more info in the next couple months. A lot of people at bioware probably want to enjoy the holiday season and relax a little after getting the game out. Unfortunately the main game probably wont get a lot of support, Which is sad to me because they were so close to having one of the most amazing games I've ever played.

Can I say, please not only ADD it, but allow me to use my keyboard to chat and my controller to play. Maybe that is asking too much, but I would like chat, too, but to still be able to use my controller, because that's how I play.

Yeah since I decided to give controller a try and turned out it made everything much easier. I can see why you asked that question. I want that happen as well.

The reason EA adds multiplayer everywhere is to prevent resale. They know the battle against piracy is lost so they're going against the second hand market. Once you finish the single player part they want you to hold on to your copy of the game as long as possible. They will add stuff regularly to keep people interested for at least a year to lessen the impact of resale on first year sales figues, just like they did for ME3.

I am not deaf and I do speak English, but for my own reasons I usually prefer not to use voice chat.  In fact, I kind of detest having no option to turn off others' voice chat, too, especially when they don't have push-to-talk on and I have to listen to their background noise/the sound of the game--including my own voice--coming back at me from their speakers.

So yes, I definitely support the addition of a text chat to the PC multiplayer.

That said, I know a lot of people use controllers even on the PC, so maybe they didn't think it was worthwhile.  I'm still not sure why they didn't add it into ME3; there was actually a control for it, but it didn't work.  So obviously it had been there for ME3, but they took it out for whatever reason.
