Completed this game yesterday and I absolutely LOVED it! So many people criticize the previous games (mainly DA2) but I love all three games. People have said such nasty, disgusting things about the creators and the games but they selfishly forget that BioWare have to cater for ALL of us. We are all different and we all like different things so we have to deal with the things we may not approve or typically like, but this game isn't made for just you it's made for us all, things you may not like, others will.

But what I am really not looking forward to is waiting for Dragon Age 4. Hopefully there will be a 4th but how many years would we have to wait for it? Also when are the DLC's coming out? I hope they have made some and I'm really looking forward to purchasing them. I waited a year for this game and waiting 3, 4 or 5 years more for the next one I'm really not looking forward to waiting so long :crying:. But oh well there's not much we can do about that sadly. *Sigh*.

But yeah I rate this (and DA 1 & 2) all high marks, I just love them! . DA: O = 10 / 10, DA 2 = 9 / 10 & DA: I = 9 / 10 (only because I have 1 bugged quest on it. If that fixes it will go back to 10 / 10  :D)

Anyone else have similar or other opinions?

DA:I has become one of my favorite games but I wrote a review and scored it 3.7/5 since you have to consider this game isn't perfect and needed to be looked at it with a critical eye.

Since this game got GOTY, it's pretty likely DA 4 will happen along with some DLC before that but imo we shouldn't get DA 4 until 2019 assuming they spend some time on DLC before turning all their focus on the new game.

For personal enjoyment I'd rate it 6/10. Enjoyed the story and several of the characters but actually "playing" the game was a frustrating experience for me.

Giant glitched into the air and took 20k dmg 11/10. But in all seriousness I very thoroughly enjoyed Inquisition and would give it a 9/10!

Well, there's a hard one. Couldn't really give a general mark so here goes nothing:

DA:O

Story:7

Gameplay:10

General Feel:9

AVG: 8.7

DA2

Story:10

Gameplay:7

General Feel:8

AVG:8.3

DA:I

Story:10

Gameplay:8

General Feel:10

AVG:9.3

I'm a sucker for intimate storylines hence DA2s 10. I felt that Inquisition set out to right the wrongs of both Origins and DA2(or the Kirkwall Chronicles, as I like to call it) and succeeded in mostly everything. The only problem with the gameplay that I had was the tricky tactical camera and the ton of banter related bugs(but did not calculate the banter into the score, as it will probably get fixed). So there it is.

It's not all I'd hoped it would be, but I still enjoyed it. It fell short of the mark in a lot of places and it could've done with doubling it's companion/advisor interaction/content since the game is so big that at times it gets kinda lonely when you visit them and they have nothing to say/no new scenes, however the characters were all great, what interaction we did get from them was very well done and it's certainly left me curious to see where DA4 will go in light of those new revelations in-game.

DAO: 9.5/10

DA2: 4/10

DAI: 9/10

DAO is one of my favorite games of all time. The story drew me in like almost no other (KOTOR being its only equal). The gameplay was fun, exciting, challenging, and taxing.

I couldn't get past DA2's plot holes, the combat felt twitchy and poorly designed, and the whole game felt rushed.

DAI's story is as good as DAO's in most parts, but has a few weaker points. I disliked how little we know about our own character's history. DAO had origin stories, and DA2 had a detailed background reinforced by supporting characters, but in DAO we're just dumped into the story with a paragraph of text explaining who we are. Also, the ending felt like it was rushing. There should've been more buildup to the fight against Corypheus instead of just going to the war table and immediately going right to the fight. My LI also mentioned I was going to make a speech later in the party. I would've liked to actually get to do that. So weak intro and the conclusion was only decent, but the rest of the story was great.

Combat-wise, DAI's combat feels like DAO with some aspects missing. If I could just move with the WASD keys while in tactical camera, and if I could have the camera zoom out a bit further, and if the HP between party and enemies wasn't so ridiculously unbalanced, then I'd say the combat was as good. As it stands though, it's close but not quite there.

Rate it as worse than Origins, better than 2.

I think the open world wasn't great, it was mainly pointless busywork like in Assassin's Creed and not really full of meaningful content. Towards I end of the game I got a bit more and decided to just blitz the story content.

I liked the story overall but I wish there was jut more to it. I wanted a longer, more epic quest to stop Corypheus. Sadly after Here Lies The Abyss there's only 1 more story mission, which is a bit underwhelming. The exploration overall wasn't good and I think the world was far too big overall. Bioware are no Bethesda yet.

Plus there were a bunch of limitations like ability slots and terrible PC controls timed quests and stuff which I didn't enjoy.

So not Origins, but a step in the right direction.

DA:O: 8.5  (700 playing hours so far and counting)

The good

- the origins were excellent (personal investment)

- combat was tactical

- playable using the mouse

- actions have consequences

- personal evil opponent (arl Howe and to an extent Logain)

The bad

- generic evil opponent (arch dragon, dark spawn)

- bland main story line

- had some filler quests

- the way too long and boring deep roads

The ugly

- cheesy dialogue for Alistair and Zevran

- everything had a bland colour

DA 2: 6 (50 playing hours at most)

The good

- pretty? ah well

- I could play it using the mouse that counts for something right?

- Fenris' voice

The bad

- recycled areas
- parachuting baddies
- bad paraphrasing
- press a button something awesome happens
- every mage turns into an abomination
- no matter which side you choose the same thing happens
- overall the game which should not be mentioned ever again, let alone base a sequel on it.

The ugly

- the nice/sarcastic/aggressive stupid tones in the dialogue wheel,

- it was actually released despite being an unfinished mess.

DA:I: 7.5  (120 playing hours so far)

The good

- lovely scenery.

- loved the more mature Cullen romance despite not liking Cullen before (didn't finish the Solas one yet, which is the only reason why i'm still playing)

- nice plot twist (too bad it happened after the credits)

- Cullen's voice

The bad

- generic evil

- bland main story line (until after the credits)

- actions have little consequences

- no personal investment (remember arl howe in DA:O?)

- the inquisitor has very little character depth, not fleshed out during dialogues/origins or otherwise

- bad PC controls (especially for those with a disability)

- bad tact camera

- horrible inventory management screens

- way too many filler quests

- missing evil path

- no storage space

The ugly

- the casual outfit in Skyhold

- the female hairstyles (really really awful)

- monotone female inquisitor voice acting (yes, both of them, do not confuse this with the more neutral dialogue wheel choices because I think those are good).

- it was released despite being unfinished.

I'll have to give it a 2nd playthough to give a final mark. Right at the moment i'd have to give it something like a 7.5/10 after just finishing my debut 100 hour run. The world is extremely beautiful but in some ways i think the main story could have done with more story quests and slightly less of the vast open world spaces.

Really chunky DLC story content would certainly nudge it higher.

Overall i'd consider it on par with Origins and whilst it hammers DA2 environmentally i've got to say i still prefer the DA2 story from a personal engagement with the experience viewpoint.

All in all a very good game.

To avoid typing a novel I'll just limit myself answering with the scores I gave each of them (with some explanation below):

Dragon Age: Origins + DLCs + Awakening = 9.5 / 10

Dragon Age II + Legacy DLC = 6.5 / 10

Dragon Age: Inquisition = 8.0 / 10

I've posted a detailed review not long ago on these forums, and I came up with a score of 8.4 / 10 for Inquisition. I did mention (and as I thought it'd be the case) that I would probably change my mind about a few things over the days that would follow (especially about the main story arc) since I would play the game again (with a different World State too). That I would make up my mind again with another score. And I did, so I'm now very comfortable saying that a score of 8.0 (instead of my initial perhaps a tad too generous 8.4) out of 10 for Inquisition is pretty much set in stone now. The only real downsides of the game are - for me - the forgettable, almost meaningless soundtrack (with only the exception of precisely three tracks, which I find to be alright), and how there's no real (not even potential) hardship and urgency nor direct danger after Haven (and how basically following Haven all that happens is the Inquisition being victorious everywhere, rendering Corypheus one of the weakest villain I've seen in recent gaming years). But the rest of the game, literally, almost everything else, is so good that it still manages to reach that score in my book.

But, yes, Origins is the true masterpiece of the trilogy. And as a side note, I'd like to add that I personally scored the original Mass Effect at 9.5 / 10. So yes, in my book, the first Mass Effect and DAO (including the expansion pack, which I also like a lot) have been the best that BioWare ever did. Very closely followed by Knights of the Old Republic and Mass Effect 2, of course.

I think it's the best thing they've done on consoles, I've been playing since Baldur's Gate and I feel like DA:I finally achieved the goal of the franchise - to create a spiritual successor to the Baldur's gate games.

I welcome the return of the epic story, the large free-roam areas (just like Baldur's Gate) and the tactical combat, all with the improved storytelling, character interactions and romances of their later work.

I'm amused by all the people who say Origins was the pinnacle of the series. Origins was a neat game and the origins themselves were a neat gimmick, but they changed almost nothing and the rest of the game was so small and limited compared to the epic scope of Baldur's Gate.
Inquisition is exactly what I've been waiting decades for - great, great stuff.

Bumping Oslanar’s score down to 10…

The mean scores in this thread so far are

DA:O – 9.3

DA:2 – 6.6

DA:I – 8

So overall a pretty decent return to form from DA2, which was *blah* :3

A message to the Bioware haters, have you read any of the reviews of DAI made by the grater reviewers in the world ? The very same people that attacked DA2 years ago is now saying that DA:I is the most beatifull and greatest RPGs of history.

But it's ok, you have the right to have your own point of view, but have you actually think deeply before speaking of this oustanding game? Really, let's review some features.

For example, there are 4 full differents voices sets to the inquisitor, that means that every single time the inquisitor speaks (actually tones of script) was recorded 4 times.

Another example, every zone of the game was carefully design, they are all differents and all huge filled with content and lore, graphicaly amasing.

Another, we have tones and tones of choices to made, choices that we have been making since DA;O and all those choices are reflected in the game, have you any idea of the time and the work this required ? Any idea of how complex this was to make ?

Have any of you give just one thought to the gigantic work all theses amasing features required ? You really thinks that this games is bad, when every bit of ink in the video game industry is now aplauding Bioware for this marvelous piece of pure art.

Some people just cannot apreciate art. This game is by far the best game ever made by Bioware, it's marvelous and yeah, i could use the word perfect. Is not without bugs and gliches, but just name one game that did not have any bugs 2 weeks after the release.

But well, if you like actions games like Call of Duty or Fable well, it is comprensible that you are blind.

Umm I could give a rats ass what some reviewer said, you are asking MY opinion. I could care less if God came down and said it was 10/10. I will still rate it 7/10 for the following reasons.

Lets start with the positive.

++ Characters, they where all well done, even the ones I dislike (sera) And no I didn't mark down points because of personality conflicts.

++ Story, I will say that in reality it was your generic storyline. The only bad part is that they did a whole "Make a good Inquistion or a bad one" Yet I'm not sure where it fell on that scale so did I do a good job or not?

+ Scenery, alot of it looked great, very detailed.

- While tactical veiw was a nice comback the fact that the mouse keyboard controls where horrible didn't help

- Combat couldn't decide wither it wanted to be a action RPG or tactical RPG. DW rogue was a nightmare to playthough.

- Infi, quests and the shard quest. Honestly I can't be bothered to do it again you gain useless power. and the shards are just padding for gameplay.

- The MMO style grindfest of getting recpies... hated it in WoW, hated it in all other MMOs that had it, seriously dislike it in RPGs.

Yea it looks like there was more wrong with it than good but some things outweigh.

I loved Dragon Age Inquisition, I felt it brought together elements from the previous titles as well as introducing new elements that helped to make the story and world feel much more alive and fun. The story was good, the characters were great, the development arcs for said characters were pretty well done, the slow build up of the inquisition was awesome, and the decision to not plop you right into skyhold at the start was very well done, to illustrate an example of how good this game actually handled story events. The new mechanics they introduced for equipment is the best addition to the DA series to date, and I personally fell a sense of accomplishment in building my own armor and weapons, even if the game can sometimes troll me by giving me higher tier stuff immediately after I craft. The leveling system was new, and at first I didn't like it, but soon I was able to understand/navigate it well and it changed my approach to both ability and equipment choices for the better. Added a new element that connected spell trees, specializations, and equipment in a way the previous DA titles didn;t.

That said there are some issues to be found. The hinterlands being the first stage you go to and how vast it is has also proven to be somewhat of a mistake, as it gives the player too much freedom from the start instead of letting them ease into it as the first stage getting to the breach had done. IMO it makes going to other places like the fallow mines, forbidden oasis, val royalaux, etc feel a bit smaller though still grand. IMO the hinterlands should have come after you fixed the sky hole to really show the grand scale of the world. As good as some missions are for story content, others aren't as good, and the side quests being mostly fetch quests without cutscenes really bothered me personally. Some content felt rushed, others felt a bit too much like they dragged, but over all it was quite nice.

And of course the big elephant in the room, the PC version of the game. Boy did they mess up with this one, from the 30 FPS cap to the wonky controls for keyboard use, there were notable and serious technical problems and design problems going in. I myself play console and didn't have these problems, but I can certain sympathize with my PC gamers and would be pissed to if my copy of the game had these kinds of problems.

So if I were to use the standard 10/10 format, this game would start at a 9.5 because nothing in this world is perfect. The level design, quest system, and technical problems, would knock this down to a 8.2 out of 10.

It was a pretty good game, above decent in my opinion and with enough goodies that it pushes it just a bit beyond what was needed for a pretty good game.

9.5 god tier

9.0 one of the bests

8.5 awesome quality game

8.0 pretty good

7.5 its okay

7.0 not good, but not bad.

6.5 theres a flaw here that can't be ignored

6.0 the skeleton and framework for something okay was here.

below 6.0: Why did you even think this was worth our time?

Out of three DA games I'd rate Origins as the best one while DA2 was the most fun to play. I'm now on my second playthrough on DA:I and it is starting to feel a bit of a chore. Also the story loses steam towards the end. Especially the final mission was kinda disappointing. I was expecting a long and glorious mission and instead it just went straight to the final battle which also was kinda meh (apart from Morrigan turning into a dragon). The final cutscene after the credits was epic though.

DA:I could've used a bit more Dragon Age and a little less Skyrim.

Overall Inquisition was...good, I suppose, but as ambitious as it was, there really seemed to be an overall lack of impact on your choices, many of which I hoped would have relevance later as I plowed through sidequests(such as acquiring the avaar, refugee soldiers, etc) but had to deal with the same (personally) very unsatisfying, seemingly rushed finale regardless if they were completed or not.
